QUOTE(babyscouts @ Nov 10 2023, 08:22 PM) QUOTE(hksgmy @ Nov 10 2023, 08:28 PM) My Maybank Prestige/Privilege RM was one such banker. She knew we were super conservative and really bided her time. We had so much money locked up in low yield FDs while she was with Maybank Prestige. Then, she got upgraded to Private Banking, took us long with her and showed me what I was missing out - and by this time, I was ready to listen. I bank privately with Maybank, UOB and DBS (I'm based in Singapore), and I've since made it clear to the RM at UOB and DBS I expect the same respectful approach that my Maybank Private RM showed me - and they've been more than happy to agree. QUOTE(dwRK @ Nov 10 2023, 09:37 PM) depends on your rapport and relationship with RM... its not all about buying banking products giving them commissions... no doubt they will try to introduce new stuff, its part of their job... but if you let them know what your interest are, etc., they can look out for you and not blanket promotions... Good inputs above, bros,...RM can really make life easier... a lot of banking stuff we just text her and she does all the paperwork... even comes to the house on saturdays or sundays for our signatures... a lot of the token gifts, like moon cakes, CNY stuff, etc actually comes from their own pocket... so we usually tell her NOT to give us anything, but she dun listen... lol... so usually when she comes around, we take her out for brunch or lunch, we pay... waifu sometimes bakes cake/bread as gift for her... lol... treat them nicely as human beings pls... not leaches trying to get you... On my side, I look at RMs in a different way. I am very independant in my trading and in 'earning from the mkts'. I am polite to them if they call me, but I don't really need anything much from them. If I have to call the RM every now and then or if there is always something that the RM needs to do to interact with me to do so,... then there is a problem with their system. They can send me updates, invitations or annual meet-ups, but I seldom do,... I'll go only if my wife(s) want to go. But if I don't tell my wife(s) there is such an event, they wouldn't know too and hence, wouldn't want me to go... 'forcing' me to go with them. |

Sorry just a quick question.
With my cursory research, in Sgp, DBS (and I think SCB) allow shares to be part of the AUM for privilege, priority status. The shares are held under custodian, but easily tradable via their respective online platforms. Is there something similar with the local banks here? |

Hi. Would like to check for Maybank Premier Account AUM. Based on the below statement, does that means I need to always maintain the AUM each month for the past 12 months? Can I miss one or 2 months of the minimum AUM?
The Account will be charged an annual maintenance fee of RM800 or whatever amount Bank Negara Malaysia deems fit which will be debited to Customer’s account with prior notice to the Customer if the Customer fails to maintain the Minimum Qualifying Criteria for the past 12 months as stated in 5.1 above. QUOTE(BenChiew @ Jan 29 2024, 08:34 PM) Oh, that’s interesting… that the same banks would calculate AUM differently? I know Maybank in Singapore takes into account shares held in trust via their CDP as part of AUM. I also have shares held in trust by DBS that go toward total AUM. BenChiew liked this post

I know Maybank in Singapore takes into account shares held in trust via their CDP as part of AUM. I also have shares held in trust by DBS that go toward total AUM. Perhaps this could be due to the diffence in the rules by the regulatory body. BNM and MAS may have slightly different views on this. If you are a premier customer in HSBC Singapore, you can get a reciprocal status in HSBC Malaysia without having to meet the AUM though. hksgmy liked this post

Many banks besides DBS and SCB do not accept equities as part of AUM for the 250K and the 1,5mil brackets. The banks can still accept mutual funds, unit trusts and of course, cash, but not equities.
