Regarding public bank red carpet, anyone know the "Preferential foreign exchange rates" ?
Normally how much % better rates would it offer eg for USD/MYR comparing to the rates published by their website? ? |

hey guys sorry I'm new here. Just only reached the minimum to open at some of the bank for priority/premier account. Any suggestions for a first timer? Which one is good to start with to grow the account? I've been with HLB for quite a while.

QUOTE(bbgoat @ Aug 6 2017, 04:47 PM) Talking about the 'million' ringgit statement, does anyone know the difference in benefits / invitations, etc between priority banking (RM 200k, 300k, 400k & above) & private banking (1 millon & above)?Usually only hear about lunches / dinners / talks invitation but is the first time I heard of wine tasting invitation. By the way, finally got an invitation to Maybank investment talk at Aloft Hotel. |

SCB Penang invited me to wine tasting about 2 yrs back. I have reported about this in FD thread. Anyway, already pulled out everything from SCB. QUOTE(drbone @ Aug 7 2017, 11:35 PM) Not needed. The opening is determine by maybank SG. Maybank MY have no say in this. If you want, you better hurry. According to Hansel, you better hurry. Door's closing. There's a stir on opening SG account thread that maybank implemented some new rules. Whether it's real or not, I don't know. For me personally, if I want to use my priority status (if I have one), I will pick these 3 banks 1) ocbc 2) uob 3) standard chartered Reason for 1) & 2) = sg banks are much safer than malaysian banks. Reason 3) = access to worldwide brokerage without any commision and maintenance fee This post has been edited by Ramjade: Aug 7 2017, 11:42 PM |

QUOTE(drbone @ Aug 8 2017, 12:11 AM) Okay I happen to be in desaru currently and am planning to go to jb town tomorrow , and am very keen to open a SG account with my wife. Which would the most convenient to open ? Convinenent without leaving malaysia, maybank lo.If you want the challenge, cross the border and try your luck. Ask for trading account (DBS/OCBC/UOB). If you said bank account, guaranteed they won't let you open. Tell them you want trading account. Then they will ask got bank account? Say no. But want to link bank account to trading account. Don't think standard chartered will entertain you. DBS at MBFC OCBC and UOB at Raffles place. If all else fail, tell them you want priority banking. Guaranteed boleh. From lowest to highest UOB - SGD100k OCBC & Standard Chartered - SGD200k DBS - SGD350k If you want to hold multicurrency account, OCBC does not have fall below fees while both UOB and DBS have fall below fees of SGD5/month. (this is not a priority banking feature). Good thing about multicurrency account: - Able to deposit cash - Able to withdraw cash - Able to pay in other country currency when overseas (DBS - major currencies and standard chartered - USD only) without conversion but need to use debit card. Bad thing about multicurrency account - Deposit and withdrawal in cash incur min 1% fees (standard chartered can waived the fees - which means you get to deposit and withdraw USD for free - required RM to waived the withdrawal fees, no fees for depositing USD for Standard Chartered) PS, if you choose to cross the border, bring your proof of income (income tax filling). Very important. |
