QUOTE(Sam Ho @ Sep 4 2015, 11:02 AM)
Hi guys,

Need your kind advice here.

After reading all the comments here and I have almost bank with all banks , I have decided to select Citigold or HSBC.

This is my monthly usage:

1. I am transferring funds very frequently from US and SG, therefore I need a better exchange rate and free hassle transfer of funds globally.
2. I spend more than RM10K monthly, therefore I hope they could offer me a credit card that has a credit limit of at least RM30K.
3. I like to travel, therefore I am looking for free limousine and lounge services.

I have read thru forum and their websites, both of them offer almost the same benefits.

Which one would you suggest? smile.gif
*
Their accounts may be good but their credit card is not. Since you spend like >rm10k/month, better choose maybank 2 premier. If you know the trick, you can get free tickets from them.

And beside you need to be able to open account in the respective country you want to.transfer money. Open first. Then think about which priority banking you want.

CIMB running promo for PB with only RM150k placement.(not sure if this promo is still valid tho)
Once you are PB customer, get your RM to reco you to CIMB Spore to open account there.
No need to be PB customer in CIMB Spore.

After the Singapore account is open, can we remove the priority banking from CIMB? tongue.gif

Sudah capai objektif..don't see why not.
AFAIK, there's no commitment period for PB  smile.gif
*
So one does not need to go down to Singapore right? They will send you the atm card, everything right?

If like that, that's going to make my life easier. laugh.gif biggrin.gif

Put priority banking, open SG account, one month later remove priority banking. rclxm9.gif thumbup.gif

May I know why you need an account in SG?
*
Simple. As a backup plan. As Unker dreamer said, one should not hold lots of MYR and don't keep too much cash in malaysia. Having a foreign currency account in Malaysia is still the same as having a normal account in malaysia. The money is still in malaysia. You never know when they can restrict how much you can bring out like what happen in Argentina. If that were to happen, is too late.

Don't forget that now MYR is in a low value, so if you are going to transfer your $ to SG, you are buying SGD with a high price.

Note: You may also want to engage the RM in Spore got a good florex rate.

It won't be now. Maybe 3 years time. Need to gather my money first.

that's my understanding as well but i have heard of stories that it can be done entirely locally provided one's connected well enough. shhhhh...

I do not know which bank allows you to do that. Some don't. You still need to go Singapore.

OCBC RM can do it for you locally. However transfer in funds in batches only as BNM is monitoring.
*
Sorry for asking. But what's wrong with say transfer one shot rm500k and write purpose for investment? There's paper trail and it's your own money. (sorry if the value is rm500k - too small for you guys here brows.gif) What's bnm going to do? Stop your transfer?

Btw, what's the max limit you recommend if one have a PB status and intend to transfer in batches?

For those CIMB Preffered customers who would want to open a SG account, you don't need to travel to SG for ATM card collection. The ATM will be sent to you directly. Everything will be done in MY itself. I have opened a CIMB SG account through my RM anyway.
*
Cimb have this rm50k PB right? Can someone with the rm50k PB gets cimb bank to create a bank account for thrm? Or application of the Singapore account is only applicable to those with >RM250k?

he's quoting "prime" status against your "preferred" status.

hhmmm..... interesting.
any link for me to refer please?
does the cimb sg account does anything?
i have like pos and ocbc in sg but they require min amount and without interest. if you drop below the threshold, they actually charge me for maintenance of the account.  cry.gif
*
All Singapore banks are like that an of course no interest. If you already have 2 accounts in SG, that's enough as the more SA you have with them, the more money you will lose. No interest, needs min amount inside (your money is not doing anything)

Their savings and FD generate virtually nothing. Even their epf version only pays like 2%. They said retirement fund should not be given as high as what our EPF give us as it is a safe investment. If one wants to get more than that, they need to get into riskier stuff. Malaysian EPF is giving too much returns. Not my words but words from Singapore retirement fund officers.

A person here already shared how to get 1% p.a from Singapore banks. One will need to transfer back and forth between ocbc and scb every month to "trick" banks into thinking it's new funds.

Hi, does anyone know whether they really enforce the minimum cash/fd/etc to be available in account at all times. <-- After getting priority banking.

I wish to get, but I'm afraid sometimes I may withdraw a big sum in the future
*
Not all banks enforce that. Check out sifu Gen-X blog post on how to get free priority status.

With the present of ASM. I think hard for me to lock 250k with them lol 50k also struggle.

Still have to thanks them for the 15xx for smooth asm transaction lol by cutting in

But can ASPIRE enter the lounge?
*
Just lock RM50k with them in eGIA-i. After all according to bbgoat they won't withdraw your status if your amount fall below the limit. See his example.

Anyway though they still tag me as their Premier customer, I do not consider myself to be one as like nothing in there. Also their Penang PB lounge is not convenient for me to go  laugh.gif  laugh.gif

Wow. Didn't know that. Well soon you don't need to pay them anything for buying if you can archive it. I thought you must buy into their investment product.

I don't really see Citigold being any better than other Priority banking services to demand a higher AUM.

At least HSBC Premier immediately issue a credit card without having to suit anything - Citibank it took me multiple applications and a couple of months!
*
If you are citigold, from what I read, toy get the best exchange rates.

But if one got transferwise and SGD account, better than priority banking.

Just my 2 cent.

QUOTE(drbone @ Aug 7 2017, 11:35 PM)
Is it easier to open a sg account if one is a premier banking customer in mbb?
*
Not needed. The opening is determine by maybank SG. Maybank MY have no say in this. If you want, you better hurry. According to Hansel, you better hurry. Door's closing.

There's a stir on opening SG account thread that maybank implemented some new rules. Whether it's real or not, I don't know.

For me personally, if I want to use my priority status (if I have one), I will pick these 3 banks
1) ocbc
2) uob
3) standard chartered

Reason for 1) & 2) = sg banks are much safer than malaysian banks.

Reason 3) = access to worldwide brokerage without any commision and maintenance fee
