Wonder why they decided to stop leasing, what can Redtone even do with it.

QUOTE(Epic_winner091 @ Sep 29 2025, 07:55 PM) Maybe the agreement between Maxis/Redtone has expired - hence they choose to stop leasing/renegotiation is in process. And if Maxis is not leasing, what can Redtone do with their spectrum? Are they are going to let it idle? Letting it idle is just a waste of spectrum - Unlike Yes or Unifi Mobile, Redtone is not going to build a mobile network, just like Altel. |

QUOTE(jasontanky @ Sep 29 2025, 05:19 PM) That spectrum is not useful U Mobile, repurposing that spectrum will require U Mobile to move its spectrum as well. It is definitely useful for U Mobile - without having to move that spectrum. For Maxis, maybe not so much (they have to add carrier - but extra spectrum is always good). The regulator may ask REDtone to move anyway so that Maxis also get 20MHz.I use uplink for easier depiction MHz Owner 2500-2510 Redtone (Was leased to Maxis) 2510-2520 Maxis 2520-2530 U Mobile 2530-2540 Celcom 2540-2560 Altel (Leased to CelcomDigi) 2560-2570 Digi |

https://www.thestar.com.my/business/busines...trum-assignment Maxis will soon have 25MHz X2 on 2100MHz. Maxis already have pre existing 15MHz X2, and recent news have reported they have accepted/secured 10MHz X2 from MCMC. This probably explains why Maxis stopped renting spectrum from REDtone. It is likely that Maxis gets the spectrum that was released from CelcomDigi - resulting on contiguous 25MHz spectrum - Maxis will very likely soon expand their 2100MHz to 20MHz X2 and 5MHz X2 (or 15MHz X2 + 10MHz x2). Well, that settles it. Will keep an eye if they bump up the bandwidth for B1.

I think it makes more sense for them to do 15 + 10. Using 20 alone leaves you with 5 MHz of wasted spectrum. prosibu liked this post

You guys heard of any update or movement in the C-Band spectrum?
Other than the current DNB and UM 100MHz each. |
