Wonder why they decided to stop leasing, what can Redtone even do with it.

Maybe the agreement between Maxis/Redtone has expired - hence they choose to stop leasing/renegotiation is in process.

And if Maxis is not leasing, what can Redtone do with their spectrum? Are they are going to let it idle? Letting it idle is just a waste of spectrum - Unlike Yes or Unifi Mobile, Redtone is not going to build a mobile network, just like Altel.

That spectrum is not useful U Mobile, repurposing that spectrum will require U Mobile to move its spectrum as well.

I use uplink for easier depiction
MHz            Owner
2500-2510 Redtone (Was leased to Maxis)
2510-2520 Maxis
2520-2530 U Mobile
2530-2540 Celcom
2540-2560 Altel (Leased to CelcomDigi)
2560-2570 Digi
*
It is definitely useful for U Mobile - without having to move that spectrum. For Maxis, maybe not so much (they have to add carrier - but extra spectrum is always good). The regulator may ask REDtone to move anyway so that Maxis also get 20MHz.

Are digi really cap 100mbps?

Some of location still very good, download software update still over 20MB/s, so is not fake speed

try speedtest on fast.com, or choose server from other country like singapore
there is no speed cap using speedtest app with Malaysia servers

Maxis will soon have 25MHz X2 on 2100MHz. Maxis already have pre existing 15MHz X2, and recent news have reported they have accepted/secured 10MHz X2 from MCMC.

This probably explains why Maxis stopped renting spectrum from REDtone.

It is likely that Maxis gets the spectrum that was released from CelcomDigi - resulting on contiguous 25MHz spectrum - Maxis will very likely soon expand their 2100MHz to 20MHz X2 and 5MHz X2 (or 15MHz X2 + 10MHz x2).

Well, that settles it. Will keep an eye if they bump up the bandwidth for B1.

Either they'll need to upgrade equipment to broadcast 2x15 and 2x10 respectively, or just use the 2x20MHz alone

I might it is wireless, it will just serve as a "Guard Band".

You don't need such guardband to exist, since 3G. The only guardband that is necessary to exist is between TDD and FDD

I think it makes more sense for them to do 15 + 10. Using 20 alone leaves you with 5 MHz of wasted spectrum.

So that means finally Maxis going to offer better indoor coverages? Which is where lacking for many years

This spectrum will not bring any improvement to 4G coverage, but speed. Based on such spectrum portfolio, they could finally offer 5CA 4G+

Well, it is possible to use 20MHz + 5MHz (the 5MHz will be primarily used for CA).

You guys heard of any update or movement in the C-Band spectrum?

Other than the current DNB and UM 100MHz each.
