SUNGAI BULOH, July 4 — The Health Ministry said it is aware of the high patient load at referral hospitals such as Sungai Buloh Hospital, following concerns that its doctors are overworked.

After it was highlighted that the hospital’s Orthopaedic Specialist Clinic had to see 300 patients on June 30, 2025, the ministry said the number had also included family members or caregivers.

“We understand the difficulties faced by patients and their families, especially concerning waiting times,” it posted on X yesterday.

“The Ministry of Health is aware of the high patient load at referral hospitals such as Sungai Buloh Hospital and continuous efforts are being made to improve patient flow.”

The ministry said that its review showed that 158 patients attended the clinic that day.

“This is a common practice in public healthcare facilities, particularly for elderly patients and children,” it said, referring to the presence of family members and caregivers.

It was responding to a social post with a photo of a notice for clinic staff, saying that merely three medical officers and one specialist were present to attend to 300 patients.

“The clinic was staffed by three specialists and three medical officers, in accordance with the existing schedule and capacity,” the ministry insisted, contradicting the clinic’s notice.

Theres nothing free in life. Something gotta give. Gov run on a limited budget. You want a utopia in kkm singgek public healthcare? Be prepared to pay more in SST…. Probably 10 to 12% next year onwards:

Yes — Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim explicitly linked the SST increase to funding public services like healthcare and education.

On June 20, 2025, while addressing Finance Ministry staff, Anwar explained that expanding the SST is a way to reclaim subsidies and redirect that money to schools and hospitals:

“What we’re doing now is removing those subsidies… Through this, we save RM4 billion. And what is that RM4 billion for? It goes to the schools and hospitals.”

He further clarified that the move isn’t about penalising citizens but about broadening the tax base to support crucial services — including increased funding for the Ministry of Health — as part of broader fiscal reforms ().

So yes, Anwar did say that the SST expansion (raising service tax from 6% to 8%, along with a broader sales tax) is part of the government’s strategy to boost revenue to support the healthcare budget.

The Ministry of Health received approximately RM 45.3 billion in 2025, up from RM 41.2 billion in 2024—a RM 4.1 billion increase, equivalent to 9.8% .
• PhillipCapital and BMI forecasts also noted this jump: a 10% increase, with annual health spending expected to grow around 8.7% annually through 2028
.

So if you heard “8% increase,” it’s likely a rounding down of the actual ~9.8% rise—or referencing the projected annual growth of about 8.7% in healthcare spending.

In the future with national healthcare keep increasing at an average rate of 10-11%. Expect your golden tongkat ron95 subsidy woso to be abolished almost fully. To fund your dream of rm1 free healthcare more doctors and hospitals in malaysia

as i mentioned, raykat are stupid . marehsian raykat deserve the govt they have. whether it is madani, mahathir or whoever, all those are just an extension of the raykat's brain.

they cant see beyond the superficial...that's why, decades after decades, all our politikus can play around with them .

doctor see them for 5 mins only, while they waited for 3 hours... then they say doctor makan gaji buta

while theyre the one buta didnt see outside so many other people waiting also. it didnt register in their brain that instead of using that 4 minutes to vent to the dr and hence only left with 1 minute of consultation, that they should think of how to make the system better by making those who they voted in take action.

write letter of complaint " dr wasnt patient at all, interrupted me when i was telling him how 20 years ago i started to have some headache on and off and after that i saw bomoh and it was cured forever. " . then dr have to spend more time writing a reply instead of seeing patients.

and then they say "must punish doctor because they taking shortcuts... they only care about money..they ask govt to raise consultation KKM fee from RM1 to RM5. they dun care about raykat."

then doctor more frustrated and leave. and then from 5 minutes per person, it becoems 3 or 2 minute

all this is because of stupid raykat who dont see root cause of problem.

Pipur think gomen budget unlimited to support your personal ideal dream of a more higher standard free universal healthcare?

Bruh, national healthcare and education eats up a huge chunk of malaysian gov budget.

National healthcare is a huge cost centre blackhole for gomen. IT IS NOT A PROFIT MAKING ENTITY unlike PETRONAS

Be realistic. If you earn rm5k a month do you drive a honda civic? Tesla? Bmw?

the problem goes deeper than lack of doctors.

It's the retention problem.

KKM similar to other public service job. The management dominated by old dinosaurs that doing serious gatekeeping, all they want is auto-pilot everything until the day they retire. During the time up to retirement, they shaped the department into such ecosystem where passionate ppl who wished for change get pushed out to private sector. Which is why by natural selection the whole upper management is predominantly the type that like to goyang kaki tak apa attitude do minimal wait retirement.

Those that passionate and work like normal human being rather spend their effort in private sector, at least they get paid accordingly there. And most of all they wont get discriminated.

retention is one issue
lack of doctors is even more serious

the UITM and cardiothoracic surgeon issue until today haven't resolved and they seem to not bother to resolve
