i plann to use the lappy 4 watching hd video with my 42" plasma via hdmi. so does the graphic card has significant effect? or which graphic card would be better?
*
the newer graphics card are designed to handle HD formats more efficiently but it should be fine with even an older 8400m gs.

I do know that the ATI card starting from the 3000 series and beyond oledi have support for HD format, not too sure about nvidia but it would rather stupid to have a notebook with HDMI socket but your graphics processor cant output HD video to a display unit.

So i wouldnt be too concern about it.

Nvidia supports HD playback since GeForce 6, but it was a broken one...

proper support since GeForce 7

ATi stole the limelight with Radeon X1000 series, being the first to come up with proper support...

but now ATi is still the better one as it can achieve almost full CPU offload... Nvidia still need the CPU to do some work on some HD formats...

Hi there..i would like to ask a few question regarding mobile GPU. currently my laptop using 9600GT and i've played Crysis wars with 1024X768 resolution with medium setting (mainstream). With high resolution (gamer), there was noticeable lag..i would like to know, with my laptop, i'm planning to play COD4, is it playable? stuttering is very frustrating..second question, my laptop can't run GPU-Z and i don't know what's the problem.is it my laptop or the program itself? thanks in advance.

CoD4 will not have any problem on yours.

Even mine run on mid-high with my 8600GT.

9600M GT... it would smoke the HD 3450 totally...

by CPU offload i mean the decoding of HD videos is offloaded from the CPU and the GPU does the decoding instead... not a necessary on systems with high-end CPU, but works wonders on budget CPU...
