Can anybody tell me which brands supply the Ati mobile 3670 graphics card since i'm looking to buy a budget gaming laptop with that particular card.

I was looking to buy the asus f series but it comes with only the ATI 3650 which i am afraid will not be powerful enough to play games like Fallout 3 at medium to high settings.

Plus i heard that the nvidia 9500 mobile card has some issues with realiability and thats put me off getting an nvidia card but i see most laptop companies provide either the 9500 or 9600 whereas ati offers the 3650 but i cant seem to find the 3670 which has much better perfromance.

My budget around RM5k++. But then again i am planning to buy the laptop in singapore which comes around SGD2.5K which is my absolute limit.

I would prefer to get an Asus but i'm more concern on the graphics card, since i heard the performance between the 9500 and the 9600 is ok.

The brand that i would avoid is Acer since i have had alot of bad experience with it.

So far i notice only the high end 3d cards come with screen upwards of 17.4 but i prefer a 14.1 or 15.4 but thats really pushing the size.

The only reason why i am not in favour of nvidia cards is due to story's where the current 9 series of cards have some problems with reliability and heat issues, plus the platform for it is based on the old 8 series which means the performance increase isnt that great.

Unfortunately its abit of a hassle to buy a desktop since i currently renting and it would be a pain to move a desktop whenever i want to move house or when i go overseas for work.

you willing to spend tat much just for slight convenient sake when u moving house??? how many times u can move eventhou u are renting houses... yes there will be problem bringing it to overseas work... but isnt that going for work??? slight entertainment still can be achieved in 14/15" lappy...

if u buy 17" lappy... its extremely low mobility and high end gaming.. since its extremely low mobility.. why not go desktop for top performance + save money...

if u buy 15" lappy... its low/medium mobility and medium gaming.. save about 2k-3k compared to 17" system

if 13/14" lappy... high mobility and low gaming..... which u save around 1.5 - 2k compared to 15" system and save about 3.5 - 4.5k compared to 17" system

once again just my personal opinion... if i were given option for 17" lappy... i will reconsider getting midrange dekstop(mainly for gaming/multimedia purposes) and mobility lappy(mainly for work only)

its all up to u..... i havent seen any1 bringing his/her 17" monster gaming lappy to coffeebean/starbucks/mcdonald and etc.... 15" also kinda rare sight already.... 13/14" ALOT....
*
I wont be bringing my laptop to starbucks unless i'm overseas and thats just for checking my mail and doing my reports. But i want the convenience of being able to play games on the go and i will not rely solely on the laptop battery for gaming purposes.

I am not looking for the best performance laptop, just one which will suite my needs for being portable but istill be able to play games at reasonbale frame rate and i will not be lugging it around coffee shops.

I know a desktop is a much cheaper and has better performance but my job requires me to move around and stay at one site for maybe weeks at a time and it would be a waste that i have a gaming machine which is collecting dust at my room when i'm overseas.

hmm, if it's really like this, isn't Asus's F8 with HD3650 wat u re looking for??

good mobility with acceptable graphic performance

Reference:
HD3650 - http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-...650.8839.0.html
HD3670 - http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-...670.9595.0.html

this site rated the cards, by perfromance, in the following order:

HD3670 > 9600M GS > 9500M GS > HD3650 > 8600M GT
*
From what some ppl have said, the HD3670 is just a overclocked HD3650. So theoretically i could get the same performance from a 3650 to a 3670 just by overclocking it.

I currently split between nvidia and ati since nvidia cards are getting the bad rap of being less reliable but may have a slight performance boost over the ati cards.

I'm planning to buy the centrino 2 asus laptop with an ATI 3650 3d card. I just hope that i can play fallout 3 on 1280 or 1440 resolution with high settings at least above 30 fps. Maybe i would scraifice draw distance or some HDR setting.

Do you guys think its possible? or do i have to purchase a more powerful machine?

get DEell xps m1730 with 8800gtx u can play at 1920x1200 resolution, u wont regret, it will serve u well
*
Unfortunately for me, money does not grow on trees so i have to settle for medium range unless they reduce the price or have a graphics card which is just abit better then the HD3650.

My budget is around sgd 2.5k or RM5500. But i dont like the benq brand since it doesnt look like it was made very well. So far im planning to get the Asus brand.

Rm5500 Laptop want to play Fallout 3 in high setting and over 30FPS is impposible.  This kind money enough get Mostly are 8600M GT or 9500M GT standard Graphic card only which cna play games n low or medium setting smoothly
*
I know that a HD3650 can play oblivion at 1280x800 at high settings at around 30 fps. Since fallout 3 should be around those requirement, it wouldn't be far fetched.

Never heard of brand awareness doh.gif

Zepto brand was on of the brands which i was looking into to make a purchase since it has the 9650 card. Too bad they dont have an ATI equivalent.

hmm... perhaps me being a S'porean explains everything?? biggrin.gif

well, more choices is always better, and Zepto is definetely one of the few in the top of my own list for gaming laptops... read quite a lot of good reviews abt their products in overseas sites...

too bad Zepto didn't come to SG until recently, else i may have grabbed one of their laptops...

I am working in singapore at the moment so its convenient, but i'm worried about their warranty since is it international or local since i may move to either the states or UAE.

IC.. what do u mean by theres more ATI can offer later? do u mind explainin more about it and should i wait for abit more??
*
I think he's talking about the ATI 4000 series since the desktop version are very good. So it would be safe to assume that the mobile series would be equally as good. Unfortunately have 2 wait till next year.

Does anybody know how much the Asus G50 A1 cost since i checked out a few websites in the US and they arent that expensive and much cheaper then the Zepto laptop which i was considering and have more additional things such as an e-sata port.

In the states it cost only USD 1639 whereas if i were to buy in singapore would be more then SGD3000 which is a big ripoff.

I wonder if i were to ask someone 2 buy that laptop and bring it over to singapore, will that person incur any charges or tax?

Is there a difference in gaming performance between a 5400rpm notebook HDD and a 7200?

Or the increase in RPM will only affect loading time and not fps?

Is it worth it to pay more for a lesser capacity hdd but with higher rpm compared to a slower but more capacity hdd?

Im split between a 250gb 5400rpm hdd and a 160gb 7200 rpm hdd, the faster drive is more expensive by 200 dollars, if i go for the 200gb 7200rpm drive, then its 300 dollars more compared to the slower drive?

Do you think its worth it? Im currently split between 160gb 7200, 200gb 7200 and the 250gb 5400.

AMD Turion x2(2.0Ghz),4GB DDR2 667mhz ram,ATI HD3200

HD3200 is just an average 3d card. Dont expect it to play dx10 games like assasin creed or crysis. But your laptop should be able to play Red alert 3 with not much problems.

is that possible to config the share memory for the display?cause i could not fould the share memory for the display in driver even the bios option.... hmm.gif

I'm not 2 sure for the newer cards like the HD3200. But the amount of memory isnt the important issue when gaming since its all about the speed of your card, not how much ram it has.

Even if you have a HD3200 with 2GB graphic ram, a HD3470 with 512MB will still beat it since it faster by nature. The only solution would be to change the graphic card but most laptops 3d card are permanently fix to the motherboard so you cant change it even if you wanted to.

Can. Just not at high settings and at high resolution. I think you can play crysis at 1024 resolution at low-med setting.
