I'm planning to buy the centrino 2 asus laptop with an ATI 3650 3d card. I just hope that i can play fallout 3 on 1280 or 1440 resolution with high settings at least above 30 fps. Maybe i would scraifice draw distance or some HDR setting.

Do you guys think its possible? or do i have to purchase a more powerful machine?

Unfortunately for me, money does not grow on trees so i have to settle for medium range unless they reduce the price or have a graphics card which is just abit better then the HD3650.

My budget is around sgd 2.5k or RM5500. But i dont like the benq brand since it doesnt look like it was made very well. So far im planning to get the Asus brand.

perhaps u wanna customise a Zepto Nox A15?

SG$2560 comes with:

Core 2 Duo P8600
9650M GT 512MB GDDR3
15.4" LCD 1280x800
DDR2 800 1GB x2
250GB HDD 5400rpm
DVD Burner
6 cell battery
Draft N WLAN (not Intel's)
Vista HP 64-bits
1yr global carry-in warranty

http://mucro.asia/index.php/vmchk/Zepto-No...l-products.html

u can also choose to go OS-less, HDD-less and RAM-less and buy them urself...

but i heard that if u want 9650M, u'll need to wait till Sep or Oct...

I know that a HD3650 can play oblivion at 1280x800 at high settings at around 30 fps. Since fallout 3 should be around those requirement, it wouldn't be far fetched.

Isnt there little diff in terms of 3d performance between the 9600GT and the 9650GT compared to the diff between cost of those 2 cards?

on 3D Mark 06, abt 1000pts different... but they re also SG$100 different...

and 9650M is a 55nm GPU (9600M is 65nm), so by rit it should be cooler too...

CS:S is not a very demanding game in terms of graphic... so any graphic card can handle it well

hmm, i tried playing CS:S on my old laptop with a GMA900, and i can maintain >20fps most of the time... that's y i said most graphic card should be able to handle it...

for COD (COD4 rit??), u can definitely play it... but depending on the power of the card, u will have to tweak the video settings to get better frame rate... some ppl with Nvidia integrated graphic said that they can play it at acceptable frame rate too...

First of all, I'd like to say that I'm surprised to find Malaysians that are interested in Zepto products. We usually monitor clicks to gauge Advertising effectiveness and we generally find clicks coming from different sources.

For us, the main issue is the Servicing and Support in Malaysia. We would need to find a decent network of Repair shops or a partner with a decent network of repair shops that can help maintain Zepto computers in the event of failure. If not, they would have to send it to Singapore, which would incur travel time and shipping charges. It is, of course, generally not interesting unless you are technically proficient.

Currently for purchases, the best way is to buy from the site, Malaysians will have to have Zero rated the GST as it is considered an export. In place of that should be a shipping charge. The customer is responsible for Sales Tax in Malaysia and you are at the mercy of Customs control in Malaysia. Later, we'll need to find out how the system works in Malaysia to make it more and more interesting for Malaysians to own Zeptos.

As far as 3DMark06 scores is concerned, our first customer in HardwareZone got 5.7k stock speed@1280x800. This is a very common score for a 9600m GT 512MB GDDR3.

In the future, customers can purchase individual GPU cards like the 9650m GT for upgrades. This is why we prefer to use local Malaysian repair shops, that way they can do the upgrades instead of us doing the upgrades, which will incur shippings charges like 50-60SGD.

Zepto brand was on of the brands which i was looking into to make a purchase since it has the 9650 card. Too bad they dont have an ATI equivalent.

I've done a few benches for DMC4 to compare 8600M GT at default clock vs overclocked...... running on vista home premium 32bit.... using Dell XPS M1530 laptop and the spec as in my signature....

DMC4 constant settings as below:
Resolution: 1280x800
DirectX :9.0c
MSAA: OFF
Fullscreen: On
Display Frequency: 63Hz
Vsync: OFF
Framerate: Variable

Changes of settings as below:
1. Texture Resolution
2. Shadow Quality
3. Quality

Note:
1st Picture = Default clock (3dmark06 = 4.6k score)
2nd Picture = Overclocked (3dmark06 = 6.1k score)

Hmm never heard of zepto before till i visit this thread. The service they offer is awesome. We're able to customize almost everything in the laptop according to our preferences. Well too bad the warranty is an issue... Better wait for it to open up networks in malaysia first before considering it.

@vincentlaw
how much did u pushed ur 8600GT? A vast difference between default clock and overclocked speed in ur 3dmark scores le

Originally i get 3k 3dmark06 score for my 8600M GS. After overclocking it, i only manage to get 3.8k =.="
