Unfortunately its abit of a hassle to buy a desktop since i currently renting and it would be a pain to move a desktop whenever i want to move house or when i go overseas for work.
*
you willing to spend tat much just for slight convenient sake when u moving house??? how many times u can move eventhou u are renting houses... yes there will be problem bringing it to overseas work... but isnt that going for work??? slight entertainment still can be achieved in 14/15" lappy...

if u buy 17" lappy... its extremely low mobility and high end gaming.. since its extremely low mobility.. why not go desktop for top performance + save money...

if u buy 15" lappy... its low/medium mobility and medium gaming.. save about 2k-3k compared to 17" system

if 13/14" lappy... high mobility and low gaming..... which u save around 1.5 - 2k compared to 15" system and save about 3.5 - 4.5k compared to 17" system

once again just my personal opinion... if i were given option for 17" lappy... i will reconsider getting midrange dekstop(mainly for gaming/multimedia purposes) and mobility lappy(mainly for work only)

its all up to u..... i havent seen any1 bringing his/her 17" monster gaming lappy to coffeebean/starbucks/mcdonald and etc.... 15" also kinda rare sight already.... 13/14" ALOT....

I wont be bringing my laptop to starbucks unless i'm overseas and thats just for checking my mail and doing my reports. But i want the convenience of being able to play games on the go and i will not rely solely on the laptop battery for gaming purposes.

I am not looking for the best performance laptop, just one which will suite my needs for being portable but istill be able to play games at reasonbale frame rate and i will not be lugging it around coffee shops.

I know a desktop is a much cheaper and has better performance but my job requires me to move around and stay at one site for maybe weeks at a time and it would be a waste that i have a gaming machine which is collecting dust at my room when i'm overseas.

hmm, if it's really like this, isn't Asus's F8 with HD3650 wat u re looking for??

good mobility with acceptable graphic performance

Reference:
HD3650 - http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-...650.8839.0.html
HD3670 - http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-...670.9595.0.html

this site rated the cards, by perfromance, in the following order:

HD3670 > 9600M GS > 9500M GS > HD3650 > 8600M GT

From what some ppl have said, the HD3670 is just a overclocked HD3650. So theoretically i could get the same performance from a 3650 to a 3670 just by overclocking it.

I currently split between nvidia and ati since nvidia cards are getting the bad rap of being less reliable but may have a slight performance boost over the ati cards.

feel 15.4" is best for u.... medium in mobility and gaming........ but i personally feel 15.4 still isnt very convenient for taking out to cafe and so on which i do most of the time... feel abit big and heavy bout my lappy... its all depend on individual preferences anyway....

This is my laptop specifications:

Acer aspire 4920
Intel core 2 duo, 1.8GHZ, 667MHZ, 1.8MB L2
2.5Gb ram
Intel graphic mobile accelerator X3100(up to 358mb graphic memory)

I was addicted to the game Crysis while playing on my friends pc and now
i cannot play in my laptop, saying that "graphic card is not supported"

Is there any way that i can do to allow me play crysis on my laptop?

nope except for getting a new laptop...

GMA X3100 is an integrated graphic card, or in another word, lousy...

only sufficient for Aero and normal day-to-day work and some old games...

and unlike desktops, u cannot upgrade it...

sry to say that Intel GMA X3100 isn't for gaming purposes.... even it have directx10 and SM3.0.. it still lack of power to run games in those settings, not games nowadays... according to "http://www.notebookcheck.net/Mobile-Graphics-Cards-Benchmark-List.844.0.html" intel GMA X3100 is in place no.102 which only score 524 in 3dmark06... even the 8400M GS at place no.73 score 1365 is at its knee for crysis.

Crysis is known as the highest requirement game which retail released up to date.... the next should be farcry2..... even 8600M GT at no.42 is hard to cope with this @#$%^&*( high end game.......

1 recommendation for nice FPS game + not so high requirement game = Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.... to me this game is alot better than crysis... this CoD4 is better in gameplay while crysis is better in graphic...... maybe u can try but i dont ensure u it will run as im not familiar with integrated graphic solution

u are wrong shakehead.gif .. u cant judge by series alone ... 8 series doesn't always mean better than 7 series.... for mobile pc, 6800 Ultra, 7800M GT, 7800 GTX, 7900 GS, 7900 GTX is is better than a 8600M GT......

1 common mistake of pc end user is rclxub.gif rclxub.gif , higher series = better... where i always heard ppl say "eh i tot 9600GT better than 8800GT" for desktop... doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif which they make me always sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Crysis is a freakingly high requirement game that it literally pwned all graphic cards in the world when it was first released...

if u want everything in max settings with min 30fps, u'll need a desktop 9800GX2, GTX260 or HD4870 to do so...

thus u can imagine how it will pwn all mobile graphic cards as well...
