Guys, studio offer WLED instead of CCFL screen.
Some other reason is, XPS using NV 8600M GT which NV having problem on their graphic card, that's wat worrying me.
Or do u guys suggest that I will for dell to come out the Montevina P serie?

Attached Image Attached Image Recently I did a lotof survey online and read a lot of review.
I found that Samsung R710 is having the best spec so far with reasonable price (RM 6000)
T9400 2.53Ghz
320Gb HDD
4Gb DDR2
NV 9600M GT 512Mb
17" WXGA (1440x900)
Best thing is only 3.08Kg !!!

I was told that samsung quality is poor? can someone tell me how poor samsung is if compare to other brand ?
Do samsung provide GOOD service after sale?

depending on what resolution u are playing(which is the most important factor in affecting fps)..... pls state ur budget too, we can recommend u a 10k laptop too if u didn't mention it...
1. determine ur budget limit
2. determine what screen size u want
3. determine what resolution u want.
4. then only determine what hardware is compatible with the above selection

M1730 with 8800GTX with SLI
Brand: Dell XPS m1730
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 @ 2.50GHz
Memory: 2GB 667MHz DDR2- SDRAM
Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce 8800M GTX 512MB SLI
Ageia physics accelator
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Home premium

Quick benchmark on COD4

When I deactive and active SLI the performance increase by about 60%, this game really support SLI well same as crysis and grid

Setting:1920x1200 4AA MAX setting Fps from 70-130

On Crysis 1920x1200 0xAA All high Fps 30-40

Between Asus G70 and Dell XPS M1730, which consider a better choice? In terms of performance, warranty and services. I'm trying to weight these two beasts.
The benchmarks here show good thing about XPS with dual 8800M GTX. However I'm not going for the dual 8800M, haha.
At least the two meets the condition between of mobility (not that much for 17 inchers but still movable) and high performance (I'm not expecting the best though).

People saying Dell has good warranty and customer service, how about Asus?

And yeah, any good and trustworthy places around KL to get any of them?

Thanks. smile.gif

SLI got improve like 50-60% if the game support it well, for example like crysis, COD4, GRID .

But for old game like war3 doesnt support SLI well and devil may cry 4 and assassin creed have no much improvement in SLI mode , i hardly see the diferrent when i active and deactive SLI mode, fear has a good support with SLI,

In conclusion, Dual 8800m GTX better
better than a single 8800mgtx by 50%, because i have try deactive and active the SLI mode in nvidia control panel

Nowadays nvidia release better driver support SLI, last time the drivers were suck
They dont support SLI well

Not point playing Dota, haha, nvm that. Now there's good thing about the SLI part.
Wish could wait for those with Centrino 2...

I'm comparing the spec for these two, they somehow look the same, but, Dell has the option for Ageia PhysX card.
Thier default graphic card:
XPS M1730: Dual 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8700M GT graphics with NVIDIA SLI Technology
Asus G70: NVIDIA® GeForce® 8700M GT, External 1GB DDR3 VRAM (512MB X 2)
Dual VGA (NVIDIA SLI Technology)

u dont like play war3 mini game? i mean if u choose gaming laptop u wont play war3, i still play lol

Hey guys, was wondering if they started selling the ASUS G50-A1 in malaysia. And now with the XPS studio 16 coming out, im not sure on what to pick. Should i be impatient and purchase the G50A1 first or wait for the studio 16 with its hybrid graphic card?
