on the M5P, yes.

iinm, another use of the TOF is the improved performance at night. i can actually unlock the phone fairly well in dark areas. those phones with just front cam (no extra TOF)... same place, harder to unlock and i usually end up unlocking with fingerprint instead for those phones.

Thanks for you clarification, i saw in the soecs of x9c and honor 300 pro/ultra, the front camera us equipped with depth sensor that why the pill shape, whats the function of that depth sensor?

3d tof sensor is like face ID on iphone. Unlock with 3D images instead of 2D. In theory, is safer and can't be unlocked with just picture of the owner. can be used for banking apps biometric unlock (android apps are not optimised). Usual 2D sensor also requires light to unlock in dark area, that's why the usual phone often crank up screen brightness to max for unlocking. 3D sensor using infrared to scan your face instead.

I may be wrong, but those are using the normal 2D sensor. On Android phone, 3D unlock is consider a premium feature only reserved for flagships

for me.. i didn't really feel that much difference with the X9C. i can go ask around and see if anyone else figured out what it is really used for.

official sets sold by HONOR Malaysia will be the global version. meaning it will have differences compared to CN version. global versions come with google play and certified for use locally --- MCMC cert and the compatibility of the local networks.

also nowadays not much diff between performance and usability of a 2 yrs old flagship versus the latest. minuscule evolutionary improvement so can wait easily 2-3 generation to upgrade

I think this year model there is significant differences already. Silicon battery alone is a big tech up compared to previous flagship. And the new elite chip more AI focused Vs 2 years ago. But again it's up to user usage, but that battery upgrade I feel worth it.
Using a s22ultra myself and thinking about upgrading this year.

The taste for looking is very subjective. For me it doesn't look good. Camera section was way too big and thick. I think honor should engage a better designer.

i am looking at honor magic 7 pro to replace my s23 ultra... wanted a huawei with harmonyos which is not available outside China.

to me honor is actually global huawei with half step down in terms of premium'ness.

also convenience to pair and collaborate with my honor magicpad2

?? Just buy it online then. It's available for pre order now. Huawei cannot pakai already, at least in short term. Poor soc at premium price, I think only those with true love to china will buy it to support the brand. As a Malaysian, I personally don't see any reason to get a Huawei device without gms.

Yup, waiting for telco bundle on the magic7pro.

Huawei is alright for ME as far as GSM etc is concern. I am not tied in with google stuff and all their phone have microg running so majority of google stuff works - but still this is not for everyone. Huawei global phones are on EMUI which is neither here or there, Huawei should just move to HarmonyOS China version with microg and then everyone get the same OS updates like in China. Huawei Global OS updates ... really not consistent

Ya everyone got their own preference. Gsm not replaceable by microg. For eg mcd app, one click Google login, Android auto etc etc

Hi guys, wanna clarify, am thinking of upgrading to M7.

Noticed that if i get from telco the outright price is RM3k+ when compared to RSP RM5.2k.

Putting telco itself & telco plan pricing issues aside, would this be the better option?

Best option is wait till Q4 if possible then you can get it at 3k or below without any Telco commitment or else can consider x200 pro. 2 days ago I saw the promo price is 3.8k in L platform but I think now no more already. Btw the price is 4399 now at L platform not 5.2k.

Next sales should be able to get a similar price but then that 1 is dimensity soc while m7p is snapdragon. I think the current price of m7 seem like not worth it. Anyway this is just my personal opinion, feel free to proceed if you need phone urgently and happy with the model.

Thanks for the reply bro.

For context im upgrading from a P30 Huawei haha so at this point i think any phone will be a better phone.

Dont think i can wait till Q4 for the discount and the reason i put telco factors aside is because i dont foresee changing telco or plans anytime soon. Meaning I will be paying the same price with or without the phone.

So meaning i could be saving up to about RM1.8k compared to buying from honor direct if i get it from a telco and sign 2 years lets say.

Hence was wondering if im missing something coz I feel its a good bargain.
