Thanks for the reply bro.

For context im upgrading from a P30 Huawei haha so at this point i think any phone will be a better phone.

Dont think i can wait till Q4 for the discount and the reason i put telco factors aside is because i dont foresee changing telco or plans anytime soon. Meaning I will be paying the same price with or without the phone.

So meaning i could be saving up to about RM1.8k compared to buying from honor direct if i get it from a telco and sign 2 years lets say.

Hence was wondering if im missing something coz I feel its a good bargain.

If you are very sure to proceed with Telco offering, then can consider to wait for other brand to launch their new model, for eg s25 ultra is around the corner and will be followed by pixel 10, fruit and most of the brand.

Telco price doesn't really fluctuate much so I guess no harm to wait. Popular model from Samsung, pixel and apple might even got a better deal. If price is close better get those brand.

Honor software experience cannot beat those popular brand. Someone might argue better hardware this and that but that's not translated to user experience directly.

Personally for me from my experience samsung and apple has not been able to give me a "worry free / minimal worry" satisfaction as compared to Huawei, thats why Honor being previously a sub brand i am willing to consider it.

No doubt the brands that have upcoming launches are perceived to be better / premium, but personally i havent had a phone from them that lasted this long (Huawei P30) for me.

Im referring to green line, battery, phone start to lag after awhile (like maybe after 2/3 years).

I do agree with your point that I dont have to rush it, coz the freebies aren't something to shout about as well.

That being said, I would love to hear any thoughts if there is any flaws to my logic too.

Hi guys, wanna clarify, am thinking of upgrading to M7.

Noticed that if i get from telco the outright price is RM3k+ when compared to RSP RM5.2k.

Putting telco itself & telco plan pricing issues aside, would this be the better option?
*
telco pricing not an issue (assuming like company pay, etc), then yeah, it's worth getting.

but i have read that telco now have got some SIM lock in place, so, do check if you plan to use other telco SIM, etc...

and if got SIM lock, make sure they release upon full payment.

The taste for looking is very subjective. For me it doesn't look good. Camera section was way too big and thick. I think honor should engage a better designer.

like earlier reply, i guess taste very subjective. at times, i like those bold designs. when everything else looks so normal, the RSR stands out quite a bit.

Oooohhh...new model. Mahal lo
ayam thinking of looking at Vivo X200 or X100.
What you think my fren?
*
you looking at non-Pro version? then how to compare coz we talking about Magic7 Pro.. biggrin.gif

if look at launch price, Vivo X200 Pro was about 4699.

as for specs wise, i will admit i am biased towards Snapdragon processors. regardless of how impressive mediatek seems to be now, i still somehow veer towards SD processors. i need something reliable for my work and gaming. and SD has never failed in that aspect when it comes to their flagship processors. just like how GPU got NVidia and AMD, but somehow, NVidia is the more popular one.

i guess in the end, depends on preference and budget.

for me, i'd still go with HONOR. having used quite a number of brands, i think HONOR has got the good mix of everything, even the software. some ppl say still not good, but i find it to be actually quite good. like all things, got pros and cons.

for context: i've used Samsung S series, Note series, Xiaomi and Poco flagships. Huawei and Honor. not as varied as others, but it does give me chance to compare. and i still do check out new phones as well when i happen to see test units around.

Huawei was a good phone those time before they got sanctioned. Before the current phone, I got a mate 10 pro that work without problem for many years until the power button switch fall off then I changed to my current phone.

The green line problem is still ongoing for many brands like vivo, oppo, Sammy etc etc. The brand that I always heard about line problem is Sammy but I guess is because user based is very big so we keep to heard about it and no people ever calculated how many % of each brand facing this problem. Some do claim is a natural flaw of OLED display and it happened randomly to some device.

Lagging wise I think nowadays shouldn't be an issue. The soc of flagship nowadays got so powerful that it's unlikely to lag unless some bug/poor optimisation of software. Having said that, you can just go to a mall and tried all the different brand to see which 1 you prefer before proceeding. I guess the price will be very close for all major brand.

yea I have already tried the demo unit at Honor TRX and i think all in all am happy with product. Apart from the fact that i want the free wireless phone stand charger, theres really no need for me to rush.

Might just delay abit more and see the sammy offerings or if my phone's lifespan permits, even the pixel ones.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

one interesting feature is the Eye Tracking. i was playing around with the demo set. after setting it up, you can test it out. it will display a bit dot at one part of the screen and you look at it.

front cam can quite accurately detect i was looking at the dot.
