I joined water rafting in KK once, and I thought it was a very dangerous sport.

I would rather sunbath in swimming pool

A lot of Malaysians join these activities, will assume

1. the organisers must have thought of safety, if not won't organise one
2. the white water rafting operator experienced, sure no problem one

It's their responsibility though. They should know when the water rised high enough to be dangerous. It's called professionalism

slightly off-topic.

please advise your malay female colleagues/family/friends to take off their tudung or wear proper swimming headgear while playing in the water, especially active water like water rafting.

having cloth covering your face during water rafting is like waterboarding. yes, people died during water rafting due to the tudung, not entirely the main cause, but certainly suffocates and drowns faster.

Honestly I don't understand with companies that always organise high risk teambuilding games for their staffs.

Some of the companies never asked about each staffs health conditions before proceed to book the teambuilding activities.

The most frustrating part is they force the staffs to join. If you don't want to join, need to provide proof of documents that u can't join. Other than that, u will get a risk of not getting good increment and bonus if u don't want to join the team building.

It happened to me in the previous company that I worked.

I think it will fall under the camp owner responsibility to advise if they should do the rafting or not due to the weather. in this case they failed to give proper advise and caused death.

Maybe the guide knows it is dangerous to do it.

But his boss say "kalau takda worang turun sungai, company mana nak dapat duit? Siapa bayar gaji lu? Boleh tahan ka kalau 2 bulan musim hujan tada gaji?"

Same situation here. Senior mgr said all staff must participate. Compulsory. Paintbor & zipline were 2 of the activities.

Bali’s rafting scene under scrutiny after tourist deaths

Indonesian island’s regulation of rafting is facing criticism after the deaths of five tourists since November 2021.

But when the group stopped for a break at a riverside kiosk, the river rose dramatically. A female vendor advised the two rafting guides to abort the trip but the advice was ignored, according to a member of the search party that followed.
