I am trying not to invest in another display monitor for the mini and furthermore my work station has limited space. I was hoping to alternate between using my iMac and the mini depending on the task I am doing. Duet is a software option right? No need to buy another dongle from them?
DUET is software. I use it on iPad as a monitor for my mac mini last time. It works really well. But have not tried if it possible for mac & mac. You can try research a bit. The app is not expensive.
There is few methods for connections. Wired different pricing, wireless different pricing also. But of course cable will be better as it's more stable and less latency.
Not sure about resolutions. For iPad looks great. I don't know why those youtuber is not doing any videos about this more than those luna, capture dongle..

Oops my bad. It is one time payment. Sorry. Any lag when you use with your iPad?
I don't feel any lag on ipad. Latency is very good. U use with ipad magic keyboard and able to fully use with mac. trackpad and keyboard works perfect. Perfect portable combo with mac mini.
Getting the base model. The status changed to processing now. Hope it changes to preparing to ship soon....lol 24GB of RAM is good upgrade but not sure about the extra 256GB storage for RM850, I bought WD SN850X 2TB nvme with good enclosure for less than 1K.
wah so fast.. can't wait!
oh just checked mine. same!!

I don’t know if one education account can make multiple purchase, never tried before. But I do know for sure you can make multiple apple accounts and use the same unidays verification account, as in the unidays is not tight to one particular apple account, it’s just used for verification.
oh then that will work then. just use other apple account
Apple routinely audits the purchases of customers at the Apple Store to ensure that only eligible purchasers have ordered and that all purchase conditions have been observed. Should an audit disclose after delivery (or should Apple otherwise discover) that you were not an eligible purchaser at the time you placed your order or that you have not observed all of the conditions applicable to your purchase, you authorise Apple:
- If you placed your order by credit card, to charge to your credit card the difference between the amount you paid for the delivered goods and the price that Apple charged the general public for the same goods at the Apple Store, in effect on the date that you placed your order; and
- If you paid by a means other than credit card, to (a) invoice you for the difference between the amount that you paid for the delivered goods and the price that Apple charged the general public for the same goods at the Apple Store, payable in fifteen days from the date of the invoice, and (b), should you fail to pay the invoice when due, institute legal action against you in a court of competent jurisdiction, with the prevailing party entitled to attorneys’ fees.
Should Apple not offer to the general public the specific products that you purchased at the Apple Store, your credit card will be charged or you will be invoiced the difference between the amount you paid for the delivered goods and the price that Apple charged the general public for the closest equivalent goods at the Apple Store, in effect on the date that you placed your order.
But I think chances of getting audit is low la. They just put the condition out only.
In US, you can buy edu price without any verification at all. Since they can be so relax on this, don't think they really will go all out to check it after.

your machine guy chot gao u or he just dunno anything. I check all my e invoice of apple purchase.. all singapore office address. But its in MYR. I think all ship from singapore also.. I bought with or without edu same thing...
Well no need upgrade every year, every 2-3 years also good enough. M1 was 2020, M2 2023, they skip M3 and M4 was 2024.
So upgrade every 2 years is sweet spot. So sure you prefer spend RM4000 (upgrade ram/storage) all in one go now and keep 5 years that's up to you.
Personally I rather spend RM2000 today for base model, and 2 years time upgrade again the next base model at RM2000.
that’s what I thought
I bought the m1 mac mini with edu also and cost 2779, retail price 2999. Then launch m2 mac mini 2499 and edu 2079. So I thought I can still sell my M1 at decent price and only add 100-200 to get the M2. So I upgraded to M2 again. Same thing happened again when M4 launch… I think as long as the upgrade price not too much, for me under RM400. I think ok to upgrade la.. M2 to M4 is quite significant upgrade.
I've tried ollama on m2 mac mini previously. It was working great for 8b parameter model. So I am hoping 16GB M4 can run at least 13b since it was slow as snail on the base m2.
