It is very very noisy, max speed is around 7,200rpm and a leftover from my overclocking days (originally fitted to a Thermaltake Volcano II) biggrin.gif I don't have a good fan for now so I mounted this instead and had it right onto my Zalman fan controller.

The airflow is straight down and it produces very strong air - just like those Vizo Windstorm. Nevertheless, most of the time it's running around 20%-25% only.

It's connected to the fan controller and running 20-25% would give you only a tiny buzzing sound smile.gif It's my 12cm fan which is making louder noise than this little one. I'm playing C&C with that 3dmark settings and GPU temp is around 48-49C

the buzzing some for long term is bad for ur ears..... dont la... so cool and so noisy.. its a nono for me.. i'll seek out the balance or at least unoticeable noise from ˝meter away.. anyway that is a good temp.. but C&C and 3dmark just dont stress full load on ur GC... ATItool still the best for GC load stressing...

yup i agree, the balance between noise and performance is important.. and atitool seems to be the best for gc load stressing..
btw bro clawhammer.. how do u fit the cpu hsf on ur 88gt?? is it by using cable ties?? or did u mod the hsf itself?? hmm.gif

vincentlaw, I've told you it's connected to a fan controller smile.gif Maybe you want to try using one to know how it functions and btw, there's no silent yet good performance fan. There's normally a trade off.

ben_panced, ATI Tool is below 60C load as I'm in an aircond room. I mod it and the HSF is mounted via screws with proper washers to prevent the PCB from getting damaged.

hurm very innovative bro.. nod.gif
but i think that artic cooling s1 is better than the cpu hsf that ure using.. hmm.gif
because i saw the ati tool artifact scanning load temp was only 51c on my frens 8800gt with modded bios with vcore @ 1.22v and shaders at 1838mhz..
btw, he used vizo dual propeller fan to cool the s1 heatsink

Yes, I do know after market cooler could be better especially Thermalright ones but I'm modding the HSF out of my interest and most of all, it's FREE in a way as I don't have to buy something new. Nevertheless, it's not meant to encourage people to do what I'm doing smile.gif I'm just purely sharing what I've done.

Default vGPU should be around 1.1V but this card gives 1.25V BUT it's still not enough biggrin.gif I'm still waiting for some chaps over at Xtreme to come up with a vGPU mod. Anyway, here are some pictures as promised:

My idle is around 42-44C in an air-cond room and highest is around 55-57C with 3dmark06/ATI Tool. I'm not sure if the score or temps are good as I've been totally out of the graphics card scene for a while. The last time I used 3dmark was the 2001 version laugh.gif Anyway, I can't seem to post my results online after my 3dmark06 run? The site is too slow.

Is this optimize pass?Using 1280x1024? thumbup.gif If can show orb then better.

OC4/3, What is orb? I just overclocked the core/shader/memory and everything else is left at default (including DirectX/OpenGL settings) smile.gif

overclockalbert, thanks but I believe if the cooler has a larger surface then it would be better. I notice the different designs between CPU coolers VS GPU coolers biggrin.gif I'll stick with this for a while and see what else I can do.
