I just got myself the Galaxy 8800GT 512MB and manage to achieve around 14,700 3dmark06 755/1887/1030 on E8200@4Ghz. Btw, I removed the stock cooler and mod it with an old Thermaltake Typhoon + YS Tech fan, Thermaltake RAM sicks and did the vMem mod.
I need to test further and see what's the best OC I can get out of this |

vincentlaw, I'll re-run the test and post online so you guys can see it.
ben_panced, the max. I can get from that card is 1.25V (measured with multi-meter). I still need a vGPU mod to go higher than that. Galaxy uses Samsung and I had memory volts at 2.15V. I still need to test how far I can go |

QUOTE(OC4/3 @ Mar 6 2008, 04:08 PM) Wah,good oc man.1887shader is no joke.My PNY show permanent artifact@720/1800/950 during 3dmark06 and currently on RMA Default vGPU should be around 1.1V but this card gives 1.25V BUT it's still not enough ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My idle is around 42-44C in an air-cond room and highest is around 55-57C with 3dmark06/ATI Tool. I'm not sure if the score or temps are good as I've been totally out of the graphics card scene for a while. The last time I used 3dmark was the 2001 version |

It is very very noisy, max speed is around 7,200rpm and a leftover from my overclocking days (originally fitted to a Thermaltake Volcano II)
The airflow is straight down and it produces very strong air - just like those Vizo Windstorm. Nevertheless, most of the time it's running around 20%-25% only. |

QUOTE(vincentlaw @ Mar 7 2008, 01:06 AM) omg vizo windstorm... if u are my roommate.. i will just throw ur whole computer out of the window It's connected to the fan controller and running 20-25% would give you only a tiny buzzing sound |

vincentlaw, I've told you it's connected to a fan controller
ben_panced, ATI Tool is below 60C load as I'm in an aircond room. I mod it and the HSF is mounted via screws with proper washers to prevent the PCB from getting damaged. |

Yes, I do know after market cooler could be better especially Thermalright ones but I'm modding the HSF out of my interest and most of all, it's FREE in a way as I don't have to buy something new. Nevertheless, it's not meant to encourage people to do what I'm doing

OC4/3, What is orb? I just overclocked the core/shader/memory and everything else is left at default (including DirectX/OpenGL settings)
overclockalbert, thanks but I believe if the cooler has a larger surface then it would be better. I notice the different designs between CPU coolers VS GPU coolers |

Is your system stable at that speed? Sometimes if it's not stable, you get a lower score. My E8200 @ 4.01Ghz gives +/- 14920 3dmarks.

QUOTE(QiW @ Mar 19 2008, 02:49 PM) any of u guys' crashed in CRYSIS with the 88gt after long periods ?? When it's too hot, it'll get unstable. Why not you get the temp reading from softwares instead of touching with your hand? It can also be the memory overheating.with your OC settings to play la of coz .. my 88gt running core 700 mem 2020 shader 1750 ... temp is not a prob as i touch the gpu HSF oso warmish only ... hehehheee |

I don't think it's a bottleneck. Please don't just install the drivers directly without removing everything you had previously. It's always best to do a fresh Windows install + drivers.

When it gets too hot, unstable then you'll be getting artifacts.
