I emailed my Japanese friend a few weeks ago regarding my trip to Tokyo in Sept. She did mention that everything still goes on as normal as of then. So i think there shouldn't be a problem to visit Japan during your chosen time. Most important, just don't visit anywhere too near to the disaster area.

my friend just got back from tokyo... he says the city is still busy as ever... things are not even cheaper considering less tourists? only the really expensive hotels doing promotions. the budget ones still the same.

friends in japan also say the same thing.. don't feel any big difference. smile.gif

Japan is not cheap, but with the disaster going on, flight ticket to Japan is cheap, about 50% of the usual price.

You should check out Thai Airways too. Their pricings are usually cheap for Japan.

I've checked.

Departing 21.01.11/Returning 28.01.11 @ RM2,120 with tax etc. If want, can get the longest layover so you can do some shopping in BKK.

Alamak, i tot you wanted to go Osaka, that's why suggested Thai Airways. If you are, it should be cheaper to fly via Thai Airways because from Tokyo to Osaka return, even if you buy the JR pass, already cost you like 1k+. Unless of course both places also you want to go. But IMO, it would be very worth if you are going from city to city using JR pass. If just going to 1 or 2 city with the pass.... wasted.

For my flight to Japan - i only added around 156 for food, luggage. Even if 1330 add in 156 - still lesser than MAS's one. tongue.gif
