QUOTE(sha.sakurai @ Oct 10 2010, 10:40 AM) well.. i'm planing to visit Osaka & Kyoto too.. so that's y i think the JR Pass is an option i should consider..how far is Kobe from Osaka if we're traveling by trains or shinkansen that are covered by the JR Pass? Tokyo to Kyoto shinkansen trip itself pays for the 7-day JR Pass, so every other usage is FOC. I've not taken shinkansen from Osaka to Kobe. You should ask the veterans (living in Japan) in the neighbouring thread Club Lowyat Japan

Osaka to Kobe is less than 50km....shitman....who will take Shinkanshen from Osaka to Kobe? Osaka Itami , Kobe , Kansai Airport all are under one Bay all 3 are so near.
At Shin Osaka Station there got Express Bus & Normal high speed train link Kobe > Osaka > Kobe . Nobody will take bullet train for just 50km

For Osaka to Kobe, you can take 新快速 (Shin-Kaisoku) from Osaka station to Sannomiya station (main station in Kobe). It takes about 20-something minutes.
This is operated by JR.

Himeji station (JR) can be reached both by Shin-Kaisoku or Shinkansen. According to timetable.... Shin-Kaisoku takes about 1 hour + from either Shin-Osaka or Osaka station. Shinkansen takes about 34 minutes using Kodama service.

How long is your trip Timetable is here http://www.jr-odekake.net/If you can read Japanese it won't be a long trip.. it's a 10 days trip.. and i'll be travelling in March.. but i'm tinkering about where i wanna go.. what pass should i take.. where should i stay.. so at the moment.. i'm asking around from people who have been there b4.. in a way, i'm collecting information to plan my trip in March.. hehehe.. and NO, i cannot read Japanese .. i'm still learning.. if it's in Kanji.. it's impossible for me to read any.. i'm still memorizing my hiragana and katakana.. there's only a few Kanji words that i can remember at the moment.. hehe.. The Visa is diffrent yup. if got using tour group they handle everything. i plan to go using tour group for my first trip in order to avoid getting lost while sightseeing. currently i'm weighing two offers. one offer cover Osaka-Tokyo-Kyoto and the other one only cover Tokyo. still in a dilemma to choose which offer. The offer which cover osaka-kyoto-tokyo will have universal studio visit and also cherry blossom festival visit which is i really want to experience but no visit to akihabara which i also want to go. The other offer that cover only tokyo got akihabara but the travel date will be in march. really dilemma here.

Osaka-Tokyo-Kyoto is much better because you will sit on Shinkansen When you arrive Tokyo you don't follow Group....go walk alone. Just request from your Tour guide. Akibahara just Take Yamanote Line the train is green colour..it just so easy. Yamanote Line can get on Shibuya Station, Shinjuku Station, Ikebukuro Station , Harajuku Station & alot more

Yamanote Line can get on Shibuya Station, Shinjuku Station, Ikebukuro Station , Harajuku Station & alot more thanks for the info bro. yeah. i did ask my tour consultant regarding this too. she said the same. apparently i've googled regarding JR pass and found that the shortest route is by taking JR Chuo Line which directly to Akihabara from Shinjuku and Yamatone line which like a circle that eventually will pass Akihabara. Since the first offer will visit Shinjuku, then i will use that opportunity to go to Akihabara. one more question bro. Since i'm only going to go to Akihabara once, which is suitable for me to purchase; suica & N'EX or JR east rail pass (4 days flexible)? Many thanks bro RegentCid. You going by Tour...eyerthing is done by tour already....at Tokyo you just take one day off from Tour explore alone.....just get a Suica more suitable......why you need NEX? Why you want go Narita Airport?
