QUOTE(amylia @ Apr 30 2008, 11:50 AM)
Ermm, I'll be staying there for 3 months probably. From October til December but I'm planning to go back to Malaysia in the first week of January. I want to see how Japanese celebrate the new year  rclxms.gif  rclxm9.gif

supernothing, you're welcome to join me if you want.

Is fast-food considered halal there? Cause I don't think we can really eat chicken or beef there, other than seafood. The last time I went I only survive with takoyaki, sushi, maggi (that I brought) and salmon onigiri.

Where exactly in Kyoto? Ermm I'm still looking for a place, but the school is around the Shiju station subway so I'll probably try to find a place near there. I'm also considering to buy a second hand bicycle, to save on subway fare. A dorm or shared room is quite ok I guess, around 4 people per room. If too many then probably would be uncomfortable. I'm open to any suggestions.  thumbup.gif  thumbup.gif

Oh duringthe time that I went to LaQua, the woman who sold me the ticket said something about for something measures, in case my tudung got stuck during the ride or something.

Ooo firedauz, are you in tokyo? I'm planning to drop by during weekends there by night bus (save money), maybe you could show me around?  biggrin.gif  One more question, is it cheaper to buy a laptop here or in Japan?

wow, which school is that? how much is your budget for staying that long. if can find such school in gunma... sweat.gif can minus the budget for accommodation brows.gif

fast food... there's a loophole on that. it's a loophole going around malaysian students in japan. if you're TOO picky about the halal-ness of food then better forget about it. just ignore the meat and go seafood all the way.

demm i love kyoto, wish i could live there.

better to buy laptop in malaysia.

The school is ARC Academy. You can check it out here - http://arc-eg.com/nihongo/
I already contacted there and they are very nice and prompt in replying me. The other reason I choose this school is sometimes they offer external class outing during weekend like going to USJ and Nara. They also only have one session of class either morning or evening, so plenty of time for sightseeing and maybe a part time job (just for safety measure in case money runs out). At first I thought that I want to take a class in Tokyo but due to the living cost I change my choice to Kyoto. Besides people said Kyoto are much nicer during that time of the year. My budget? Well it depends on how much I eat I guess. biggrin.gif

The class cost around RM5,000. I budget my accommodation around RM6,000 (since I,m going alone, if more people are going of course I could spend less. Airfare probably around RM2,000 (going to buy at the next MAS fair after got the date when the class start). Probably money spend on sightseeing, subway and bicycle around RM2,000? Since I'm gonna buy a bicycle it can cut cost on the subway. So probably just pend it on theme park entrance ticket and train to Tokyo. That's already RM15,000. So I would probably say give or take around RM30k for spending three months in Kyoto? I think I read somewhere that people spend the same amount for only 1 month in Tokyo. That's why I think Kyoto is much cheaper. Besides Osaka is near, and people told me they sell a lot of halal meat there.

Actually, I'm not really that picky. After all beggars can't really be choosers right? As long as its not pork or alcohol it;s ok i guess. BEeides I always prefer fish to chicken laugh.gif Do tell me about the loop hole please. Sorry supernothing, I dont think they have the school i Gunma though. But you're still welcome to join me. Btw, may ask are you female or male?

Chemong, you're already in Japan? It must be exciting. Can you tell me about the weather during fall? Should I pack extra thick clothing? People say that Japan can be quite cold during that time of year.

In that case more better for me then. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

The most expensive probably would be accommodation, tuition fee and airfare. Other than that, since I'm gonna be alone if something should happen there's probably nobody I could turn to especially if financial problem (the high exchange rate and all). So I though it would be good if I brought extra money. If I goe extra cash then maybe I could splurge it to go to sightseeing other place than Kyoto. tongue.gif tongue.gif

Ooo is the coat much cheaper there?

Need some advice from you guys, I will be going to Chuo-ku for working purpose. Will stay at this hotel http://www.hvf.jp/eng/hakozaki.php.
My work will start on Tues, but I will fly on Sunday nite. Means I will have one day (mon) at Chuo-ku.
My target is go to Akibara to check up some electronics gadgets or maybe can get some bargain. (plz advice)
Any thing to shop at Narita airport? I will reach about 8am but hotel only check in 3pm, maybe can go jln jln there.
Actually this is kind of tight trip. I think I only have Monday free.
How much will the food in there? Bcoz I had been in Kurume, Kyusu Island b4. Things there kinda ok, bcoz small town. Can get discount on those sushi in the supermaket at evening time.

Hahaha, gotcha! So how long have you been studying in Japan? And where are you exactly?

Btw, I already have an Esprit winter jacket bought in Bandung last year for RM70 at on of the FOS there. I think that should do it. If not I'll just buy one there.

Yup, I'm in Tokyo.

Sure, I'll show you Tokyo, if you don't mind showing me Kyoto biggrin.gif

Laptop prices is actually depends, I have no definite answer for that.
While you can find cheaper prices here, it might be cheaper elsewhere.
Best way to go around this is that before you come here, checkout the prices of laptop back in Malaysia.
Then you can come here to compare.

Sure, once I recognize all the nice places in Kyoto why not? Then we both can get lost together. brows.gif brows.gif brows.gif

Hmmm, maybe I should buy it here, since it seems a lot of people saying that Japan OS laptop are cheaper but English OS is not. Besides how can I buy one in Malaysia if I'm already there? I need to use the laptop in Japan, cause I already have my trusty desktop here. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
