Crazy pricing as usual from Apple. U are better off with a high end PC for that price. Nowadays ppl hardly use tablet already.

My 12.9 M1 works fine still, I can’t see the need to upgrade unless I’m like super loaded. To me the hardware is restricted by the software, and most of the time I just game and browse on the iPad only

I am also using the 11inch ipad pro 2021 and it is still serving me good.

The main reason why i purchased Dell G3223Q 4K 144Hz 32" IPS monitor instead of Dell AW3225QF 3rd gen QD-OLED.
even though got 3 years burn in warranty, but can only claim ONCE. cannot claim more afterwards.

i think microLED display tech is the way forward, beautiful screen like OLED but no burn in issues.

but for me, i use my ipad pro 12.9 M1 80% more than my laptop for work. Mostly for office documentations, reading research journals (really need that pencil to do annotations) and etc.

my laptop is use to run heavy research simulation softwares like Autocad, Ansys, COMSOL & etc

yes i do basic video editing on LumaFusion & Photos via Lightroom. very smooth.
But basically not enough sometimes on the storage side

i got a Samsung 7 1TB external SSD as main backup/work storage.
inside ipad pro m1 itself, I only stores important documents, apps & some 3-4 games that i frequently play such as COD Mobile, PUBG & etc.

but of course, the internal SSD speed is way much faster than external's.

Micro LED offers a quality that is closest to OLED but its still quite far away from OLED.

No doubt it is more reliable but when you compare the sreens of Samsung Tab S9 Ultra and iPad Pro 12 2022, Samsung’s display look miles better simply because of the OLED. I guess Apple has no choice but to compete with OLED.

i;m using my ipad pro11 (2nd gen) just like a phone. 13" confirm can train your arms strength well
honestly it is comfortable to use on bed.

but the ipad air m2 pricing is so nice

Probably selling it is better than actually trading in, higher price than what the retailers will offer.

Not happy that apple made things not backward compatible though. They made a 13 inch iPad Pro and suddenly our old 12.9inch Magic Keyboard wouldn’t work anymore. Plus the fact the new pencil Pro couldn’t work on older iPad Pros. Apple Pencil 2 will not work on the newest iPad Air and iPad Pro

Any idea when does Malaysia get new iPad Pros typically, as compared to the US?

Those who own previous iPad Pros accessories eg Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil 2 be warned, the old models of these Magic Keyboard and Pencil 2 will NOT work on the 2024 iPad Air and iPad Pro models.

This made me do not want to upgrade at all, because it means I would have to sell my accessories and buy new ones.

If you upgrade to 2024 iPad Air/Pro, your choice is either the new Pencil Pro, or either downgrade to the inferior USB-C pencil.

Your old Pencil 2 > USB-C Pencil due to the USB-C pencil has NO pressure sensitivity and NO double tap gesture and NO wireless magnetic charging.

So the only option is to get the Pencil Pro which cost even more to have some existing pencil 2 feature + some other nifty features.

actually M4 is cheaper to produce compared to M3 as mentioned by TSMC, so more profit for Apple.

It’s the opposite for me - started of as a PC Masta Race dude with the most up to date PC hardware etc2 (thus why i joined Lowyat.net in the first place),

in the end i prefer a simple machine and powerful enough to handle all the task i needed done.For more serious task i use a Mac(even retire my Win PC lol) at my home/office workstation. Who would’ve thought i went with an Apple product in the end LOL

iPad is just the right size that I want something that just works most of the time that i can bring with me if i need to travel etc2 for presentation, simple office app works and meetings with my staffs.

Yeah its our currency situation plus import tax I think, quite a huge bump. Not to mention the 200-300 usd price increase compared the previous iPad Pro

Actually the price for new iPad Pro 11-inch starting price is not considered a lot more ex than before.

Considering these major upgrades
1) oled display (last time just lcd and not even mini-led like 13 inch)
2) 256gb starting storage option instead of 128gb.
3) 2 gens upgrade of SoC.

Aspect ratio is the same at 3:2 leh. Dun even see that any previous iPad Pro is on 4:3.

Ipad pro 10.5 inch resolution is 1668x2224 which is 4:3 or 1.33

Previous ipad pro 2022 resolution is 1668x2388 which is 4.29:3 or 2.86:2 or 1.43

New ipad pro oled resolution is 1668x2420 which is 4.35:3 or 2.90:2 or 1.45

Still slightly longer and narrower right?

u are comparing to old ipad pro? the super old first gen ipad? that one of course there is a difference.
to be frank that ipad pro should have been obsolete by now rite?

newer one has wider width and more pixels than previous, now it is at 3:2 for all newer ipads...

however, dun see any much difference in experience... long long time ago when apple switch from old 10.5 inch ipad pro to 11 inch.. no one complains anything....

1) better display (oled vs lcd)
2) slightly more pixels also (in terms of width)
3) m4 from m2 is a huge jump and support extra feature
4) camera system lost the wide angle camera but overall it supports more features like pro raw etc... now.. .

Ya but it supports Apple Pencil (usb-c) so I believe Apple wants to keep Apple Pencil pro as the ‘current’ higher end pen and usb-c as ‘current’ low end pen so the rest of models will eventually be phased out.

the secondary lens is the worse in quality - And it's rare for us to use the cameras on the ipads anyway. I think the inclusion of the new sensor for adaptive True Tone flash that makes document scanning better is spot on 👍🏻

Last night I saw iJustine’s review of the nano-textured screen iPad. Looks incredible to use with a non-reflective screen. Too bad only for 1GB above models.

I will not buying the nano coating as I basically using indoor.

I seen video and I not accepting the matte surface, I think it is too matte and destroy the deep black of OLED.

Agreed, defeats the purpose of OLED true blacks. Although, I am curious on what it feels like drawing on nano textured glass

Yeah, my thoughts exactly. Like that expensive XDR Display will rarely be touched, so I guess maybe a more touch friendly coating I suppose. That nano texture glass on the XDR display is an expensive RM6k difference compared to the iPad Pro’s RM500 difference. Of course, its a smaller screen though 😅

A special Apple cloth (with Apple logo) is provided in the box specifically for cleaning the screen. It is recommended to not use any other cloth or liquid to clean.

I know that clothes, I had buy it, but iPad is something holding on hand and touching, not like the monitor, the surface will expose more on the usage.

Anyway after seen the comparison, I will not choose that nano coating even if I buy 1TB version. The black look so greyish from the review which is something not for me.

Seems like the new bend area is at USB-C port there, ouch..

The upper gap for the USB-C is so thin after they make ipad pro thinner.
