Hi Guys,

Wondering if any of you been to a sleep study/test before? I am having sleeping problems where I could not sleep properly, max 2-3 hours and then I will wake up dunno for god how many years. And for the past 1 month, I have this issue where my snoring keep waking me up because of feeling discomfort at my throat, but not until gasping for air. I am thinking I might have sleep apnea.
Any of you guys knows what is the procedure of checking this?

Thanks.

While waiting for the answer, you might want to sleep on your side instead of back.

go to hospital ent said you probably have sleep apnea. if your partner, roommate or housemate said you snoring alot, tell them those.
later the doctor will order a sleep test for diagnosis.

Are you overweight? Sometimes reducing weight can help with OSA.

Basically there are few ways:
- surgery (but may return)
- sleep sideways, but not comfortable as your weight is on one side of body
- CPAP machine.

I guess you might have hbp too? OSA causes this.

A doctor told me we Asians have higher tendency to have OSA because we have shorter, or less protruding jaw.

I know a person also has same issue with you.

Went through some Sleep Institute, they offered to sell him a machine that breathes oxygen into his mouth while he sleeps.

it cost 10k.

he tried it a sample machine, it was very uncomfortable.

in the end, somehow he no more complain about his sleep. Not sure, lost touch, maybe he found a way.

try snore strap. can buy cheap from shopee.

if you want to check ur snoring level, can install SnoreLab. free use with ads. run the app when u sleep and it will track the noise level until u wake up and stop the app.

got check with ENT doctor if it is that bad. are you obese?

if anxiety issue, that's a diff story. could be ur inaction and not dealing with the issue that causes it to blow up or something else...

Well, I have the same problem as you.
I'll wake up naturally after sleeping for 2/3 hours every night, depending on how tired that day.
I'm single but my friend who shared the same room with me during the trip complained about my snoring~
And sometimes if not enough rest it will cause me to sleep while driving
Hope you keep updated after check up or treatment, i'm interested to take the treatment if very helpful, thanks~

Done sleep test about 6 7 years ago then went on CPAP. Life changing. Before was like u, sleep 1 2 hours wake up go toilet, sore throat, drink water, repeat. Everytime lunch or after work drive, totally like dreaming. Don't even know how I got home. Yeah very very dangerous. 1 time microsleep scratch the side of my car, that's my trigger point like i need to fix this shit.

Sleep test that time cost me like rm100-200 only. It's a device roughly size of powerbank, strapped across your chest then some tubes to your nose. Just wear it and sleep 1 whole night, next morning give back the device and they can tell u have sleep apnea or not. I forget the reading was in what unit but basically normal people the number should be less than 5. I think something like less than 5 times breathing interruption or something la. My value is 80+ lmao. Freaking hardcore. Basically my organs don't ever "sleep".

After using CPAP phew, 6 7 years now. I think I woke up middle of the sleep less than 10 times? in 6 years yes. Always 99% is sleep until alarm wake up. Wonderful. Don't even have dreams. Strongly suggest u check it out.
