Someone gave me China rom Honor before a few years back, oh my god what a pain. No matter what cannot install google services, no unlocked bootloader so cannot flash global rom, and so much junk on the phone preinstalled. Crazy how Chinese people can tahan this. Wasted days of my time before I gave up

Out of box. Most people like uncle aunties will use phone out of box. Only millennial power user will care to mod their phones and disable settings or root. Even gen z nowadays don't do this stuff anymore, everyone just buy iphone

Because of ecosystem, it works okay if you were in China, use Alipay, use WeChat pay those sort of Chinese exclusive online services. Oh yeah, that's part of the reasons why Apple and Samsung(iianm HK variant) are so highly sought after in China, not because they are "rich" but they "had to" to avoid the hassles of China's android phones.

Yes we live in different time now. In those days, flashing was fun. I loved Lineage. A combination of Lineage with a Xiaomi phone is the best Android experience, the best of entry, midrange or flagship. But we didn't need bank apps.. can just use browser and SMS. Now it's all different. Even e-wallet like boost will reject a rooted device.

Exactly la, young that time was fun, I played with Cydia and Blackrain then can install alot of johnny depp app and change wallpaper all that. Now I can't think of any root/jailbreak feature that is must have, some more will lose bank apps.
