Something i don't understand...why do I see so many Bangladeshis and Nepalise workers being conversant in Malay when a so-called Malaysian isn't? Is BM that difficult to learn or these Malaysians have lower intelligence than those foreign workers?
*
i mentioned before, not all bangladesh and Nepalese can speak malay...only few of them. My factory have over 200 foreign workers, not all can converse in Malay, only those supervisors ranked. Some even worked more than 10 years still doesnt understand Malay, some after 3 years, can understand. Also, i agreed that every Malaysian must know how to speak basic Malay...but like some of them already migrate out to oversea to study since small, but still holding Malaysian IC...how are you gonna blame them?

No excuse at all for citizen that is born, raised and lived in Malaysia not able to talk in even daily-conversational or even pasar-level BM. No need top-notch, sasterawan level BM.

I hope aunty improves, Malaysians should know malay full stop

Look at TS. Arab who improved his malay from pigdin to above rempit

It's doable. Take TS as an inspiration

I kinda disagree, my privileges as a Malaysian are not determined by whether I know BM or not, if I am a citizen, then I should be able to get a passport, an IC, etc.

Do IRB tax me based on my knowledge of BM (no because the tax laws are not made like that, same argument - is passport/IC eligibility based on mastery of BM or based on citizenship/PR status?)? If govt can tax me, then govt should provide services due to me as a taxpayer and citizen.

We, mother and daughter, stood there and scolded him stupidly... We didn’t dare to contradict him because we were afraid that getting up so early would be a waste of time.

Tis like reading rempit malay... rempit english? smile.gif

"Then when I asked what materials I needed to prepare, why didn't I say yes? Divorce certificate and custody certificate?”

Child is under 18 years old.... need parental consent in passport application. Birth certificate, father/mother signature etc.

I know someone in his late 40s who cannot converse in Malay, been staying here all his life. As long as BM is required, he'll need a translator.

In Penang, I have seen others struggling to even buy nasi campur if the Malay sellers can't understand English.

Banggala, Vietnamese, Myanmar came to work in Malaysia can speak Malay in just few month even with dialect a bit but can communicate quite well. It is not that some Chinese cannot speak at all, they just don't even want or try. Who cares about not fluent or upside down because those who speak English also many not speaking proper English also.

Many old Chinese taxi drivers who hardly have to speak Malay in Singapore can speak Malay so well even better than many Chinese in Malaysia. Some even sound like Malay laugh.gif
