QUOTE(rx330 @ Jan 18 2008, 11:15 AM) ozak, ur 34 incher no component ar? The 34" crt have all the necessary component. It till DVD resolution. Pretty clear in HD resolution too.ts? transport stream IINM means it will still not play like a blu ray disc wat do u mean by the HDD can be raid? sorry, im very noob in this stuff i need solution, HDD finishing, ordered a DVD drive , not all shosw can fit in DVD The dvico can play TS file. How is the bluray disc behave? I never really see the bluray disk in action. My main purpose to collect the bluray/HDdvd movie is the HD quality and later I can burn to bluray disk without a quality lost. And make full use of my dvico 5100HD player. Nowaday I lazy to burn or convert to DVD. Need too many disk. Just stuff all in to HDD. Just need a solution to increase the HDD storage. This post has been edited by ozak: Jan 18 2008, 12:13 PM |

I get my bluray movie free cost. What is better than free. later when the blank disk get cheaper than I can burn to disk. No hurry bro unless I canot watch the bluray movie.u get the moive from amazon, during offer, or promo alos ard tat price the actual bluray disc works like a dvd , features, extras, i think as i read b4, the only one able to do tat is powerdvd Ok. Tonight I try see can act like dvd. If canot than hope dvico can upgrade the firmware in future. Or get the latest model with this future. |

yeah, the player, writer and the disk is still damn expensive. No point for me to buy it now. While now I can enjoy the bluray movie using dvico.
How far can they drop the bluray movie? compare a blank disc. Take the DVD example. This post has been edited by ozak: Jan 18 2008, 02:04 PM |

Good point, DL DVD blanks are still relatively expensive, over rm10 for the good ones, compared to a buck or so for the single-layer...

QUOTE(rx330 @ Jan 17 2008, 02:52 PM) actually how much HDD does NAS hold? can it add more HDD to it in the future? i also takut the speed ler... NAS for home usage typically comes in 1/2/4 HDD bays. Those 2 or 4 bay NAS allows u to run RAID configuration (i.e. u can do a mirror image of another HDD in case the other HDD crashes). This is useful if you store your home videos, baby photos, critical files, etc. any file that is invaluable/critical/for keepsake. If HDD crash and no backup, u can cry all u want .... that's what happened to mine recently btw. I learnt the hard way. I keep videos of my kid since she was born till now on the hard disk. If you don't want to run RAID, then a 2 bay NAS means you can combine the capacity of 2 HDDs in one enclosure, i.e. 500GB + 500GB = 1TB. You can add HDD step by step (i.e. no need to fill up all the bays for it to work). Suggest you get the 2 or 4 bay NAS to future-proof your investment. Popular brands include Synology & QNAP. Don't get Netgear. I've used all 3. Note that QNAP is DLNA compliant, so it can be used to stream to your PS3 and xbox360 (format/codec dependant). Synology is not yet DLNA compliant, though it's suppose to be through a firmware upgrade in the near future. |

Malaysian pricing I don't know, sorry. A quick call to IT Hypermarket or Low Yatt should get u an answer. OR check those price list on this forum.
Roughly though .... a single bay NAS should be in the region of RM750 and 2 bay NAS around RM1,200 (prices does NOT include any hard disks, just the enclosure). Don't hold me to that though, ok? NAS must be connected to your home network through router (usually wired since the NAS box itself usually doesn't have wifi built-in). Once it is hooked up to your home network, any device that can connect to your router will be able to access the NAS. |

Synology, Qnap, etc are expensive options. There is also the 2-bay Linksys NAS box selling at about rm400.
I will be trying out either my cheapo China LAN HD Server (rm180), or my SLUG (Linksys NSLU), when I find the time. Probably connecting thru the Aztech Homeplug. Though, like rx330, concern over power surges is a bit worrying... Could be interesting... |

The best of NAS is, you can put it at the corner of your house and connect thru router. You can share it, assist from anywhere or stream to dvico. (if the speed is fast enough) Hopefully the price can drop fast since it quite famous now. The last I saw at digital mall qnap sell at RM1500 2 HDD bay. But old model.
