FYI, wifi works like fiber, you are sharing the total speed with others.
So yes, same channel as your neighbor also good, the router will able to communicate with each others, this avoided WiFi interference.

And yes, interference means like, let us make it easy, ch1 ch 6 ch11 you know right?
if the ch is ch3, it will be affecting ch 1 and ch 6, and it failed to communicate as they are different channel, but if you set as ch1, the routers will try communicate with each others, and get the highest speed as possible.

Ok, WiFI6 allow to do that, lol.
So yes, it is better if you sharing same channel, they will detect each other's traffic and avoid it.
If different channel, it can't receive packet and it will just be a simple interference.

IMHO it depends on the router brand, as my old TPLink M9 Plus wifi 5 has no problem at all to transmit 500mb for either direct from the main router at 1st floor or to the mesh at the ground floor...while the Dlink AX3000 wifi 6 routers that come free with Unifi subscription have problem on both sides.

So far have no problem as well for 500mbps on my deco m4 when using 5ghz, I wonder if unifi will still give ax3000 if I change my plan now, hopefully they give another model instead

walauweh... the routers of different SSIDs aren't supposed to talk to one another lah.
the only situation you want them to talk to one another on same channel is when they are in same mesh backbone group. even mesh nodes in the same group won't sit on same channel except for backbone transmission; scan your airwaves and you will see your mesh nodes are on different channels.

you DON'T WANT overlapping wifi channel.
but since it is unavoidable these days, you WANT the least overlapping channels if you can't get an exclusive channel.

you imagine several separate group of people talking on walkie-talkie ON THE SAME CHANNEL. then they will need to slice the transmission so that each group gets their shared airtime. this will provide less airtime as more groups get onto the same channel. in wifi, that means less time is is able to transmit before it gets interrupted by competing SSIDs.

There is no problem with dlink DIR-X3000Z , the problem rise whn users create a combine SSID which is 2.4/5ghz in 1 single SSID sometime devices will connected to 2.4ghz without knowing because 2.4ghz coverage is better then 5ghz thn cause the dl speed degrade .

Can separate the wifi SSID to XXXX_2.4ghz and XXXX_5ghz instead of create combine single SSID

look into "band steering" feature applicable to your respective make and model, if supported.

I have the exact same config with you bro with 2 Dlink AX3000.. but since most of the time, i’ll be at ground floor, so the mesh really downspeed kaw2..

Hope there is a solution for this with still utilizing bith mesh router..
