Done..1st time flashing a gc...would have a heart attack if it fails to boot up..yeah, the result is the same wif u.

Edit: @Doom

Maybe u could post a screenshot of the white edges so ctskl1 can see. I have a screen shot of the nfsps, but better if u put it up 1st. Btw, i dun think the white edges is artifact as when running atitool to check for artifact, it came nil for both the 2900xt and 3870.

Just tried it on Crysis on Vista (just reformat so no dual boot at the time being)..no prob..running 2AA was ok wif playable framerate at 1680x1050..at 4AA it starts to take a toll at the frame rate..might have to shift to CF also la then. But even at 8AA, no white edge as in nfsps. might be some driver optimization issue I supposed.

this card is being priced at around $180 compared to $250 for a 8800gt (street prices, comparing at online sites). id say it's a good deal for those looking into performance.

but ill wait for my 8800gt biggrin.gif

I had a HD3850 .. but seems like it struggles in Crysis.. Only can put some medium and low.. Also, it even lagged during the EA, nVidia and Intel logo is shown. But after I start the game, the lag seems to run away. My specs are

AMD Athlon64 3200+ 2.0GHz
1GB DDR400 RAM
300GB HDD
MSI HD3850 OC
PowerLogic 500T 500Watt PSU

i get that lag...thats not due to the graphic card...notice the crytek logo goes smooth?,,possibly a codec issue with these other movies and the main menu...1GB ram is also possible a limiting factor...

Crysis is a top-notch game.
Your processor and graphic is not top-notch.

yeyaea crytek go smooth . that's what i think too .. codec prob .. updated the ati fix already.. nothing special abt it also. So it's not the card's prob right.. you using HD3850 too right? Coz my previous 6600GT no problem at all when i playing.

top notch or not I don't know but I do know that it playable. It's only the EA logo etc lag. When in game no problem ..

dude that is another similarity between you and me...i was using a 7600GS...NVIDIA...could it be when uninstall the previous NVIDIA driver something extra got deleted? because i cant find anyone else with ATI with the same problem...there must be something different between that movies and the crytek logo movie...need to do more searching as ATI doesnt seem to have the solution...btw Im using XP???you too???yes i have a HD3850 too...

yes maybe same ler then .. hehe yea i uninstalled nVidia(6600GT) drivers and i used Driver Cleaner Pro and CCCleaner to clean the junks remained; turned off AGP acceleration & etc. still the same. I don't think it's my processor problem cos in the game its quite smooth thou.. only in the starting screen EA Logo and nVidia logo etc.

dude its not the card that is ure problem

crysis requires a balance system

do u know whats the diifference of me running say 3.5ghz 500x7
anmd 500x8 4ghz???... around 0.43fps difference for a single card.
but u need to crank up the bus speed and get a c2d...

2.0 on amd proc is like running 1.6ghz on a c2d.

and u need more cores as this game uses the other core for physics etc
single core no chance.

It's still an amazement his rig with an old single core processor and only 1gb ram can run crysis smoothly as he claimed

Alien ware comparison

heck they recommend HD3870 crossfire with the latest quad proc
but no surprise there as the nvidia mobo cant support the 45nm

[attachmentid=338077]
looking at those scores
it might be true
when u scale the proc
as this gpu hits new heights when u overclock ure proc

even 4ghz.. still bottleneck.

Really nice scores from the 3870. Looks like their driver optimizations are late, but coming.

Question is though, are those tests done with AA? Because IIRC the 2900 has somewhat broken AA units and does it via Shader ALU instead.

Anyways, Powercolor has allocated 30 3870s for Malaysia. 30. Three Zero. Not Thirty thousand. AMD lies about shitty yields and supply issues.

Atleast they're better than HIS. HIS only allocated 20 tongue.gif

heheh modded bios
cool stuff

caution to other ppl
i opted for teh 830/2400
mainly because of the mem cooling
dont want to run it above specs
