Hi,

Would like to ask, upon reaching Macau Ferry Terminal, how do we get to Largo do Senado and The Venetian using public transport? And is it expensive to use taxi to those places?

Thank you.

when are you visiting macau?
i just came back and my macau route is
hk macau ferry terminal (public bus) --> senado square (public bus) --> ruins of st paul (walk)--> ah ma temple (public bus) --> venetian (shuttle bus) --> taipa ferry terminal (shuttle bus)

take bus 10 or 10A, if i did not remember wrongly.
there is a signboard at the bus-stop just outside the ferry terminal.

we took the bus number 3 or 3A to town, (about MOP$2.50) stopping on the main road leading to the Square. (Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro/Sun Ma Lou)

the taxi service also shouldnt be too pricey, as on the last day we took the taxi to airport, at MOP$70 per car.

Thanks for the input. smile.gif

My planned itinerary for 7 days 6 nights, together with my gf : (Will be staying at Dragon Hostel)

Day 1 :
Reach Mongkok -> Walk around Mongkok area (Ladies street, shoes street, sai yeung choi street)

Day 2 :
Ngong Ping 360 -> Citygate outlet mall (shopping) -> Avenue of stars/Clock tower -> Symphony of Light

Day 3 :
Ocean Park -> Lan Kwai Fong (Night)

Day 4 :
Macau -> Senado Square -> Ruins of St Paul’s -> The Venetian -> Back to HK (Evening)

Day 5 :
Disneyland -> Temple Street Night Market

Day 6 :
Golden Bauhinia Square -> Central Mid-Level Escalators -> The Peak

Day 7 :
Depart back to Malaysia

Any advices to improve on this itinerary? (Not interested to go to temples) On Day 4, are there any places to go after coming back from Macau? Cuz I couldn’t find anywhere else to go.

Thanks for any feedback. biggrin.gif

Actually, To Venetian, there are free shuttle buses at the ferry terminal & airport.. Just look for those GRO holding venetian board will do. To senator square, you can hope in to Grand Lisbio free shuttle & thereafter just walk to Senado square from there..not far

sifus,
i will be going to HK soon, and this will be my 2nd visit.  and since it's my 2nd visit, am planning to go to places i didn't manage to go before, eg. outlying island.  am thinking of going Cheung Chau if permissible.  so would you recommend i spend 1/2 day there?  free-n-ez or should i take a package?  or would you have gone to another island?

plz advise.  thanks a bunch... and am glad that this thread is still kicking.  rclxms.gif

Go Cheung Chau no need tour package wan la... Just take New Ferry from Central Pier No 5. Once there, can either walk or rent a bicycle to cycle around. There's a map near the Cheung Chau ferry terminal.

You can read up on places to visit, and how to go about walking round Cheung Chau from the web.

If you like, can also overnight at Cheung Chau. Cheap accommodation there.

yeah, we were thinking of going the extra mile and off the beaten tracks,
with visits to cheung chau, and the fishermen villages.
but to no avail, time was rather tight.
maybe in the next trip?

and this time I swear to go during the cooler season!!!
Sept was DAMN DAMN hot last year. but thankfully we avoided the typhoon/heavy rains.

Hi, I found this website more useful(to the traveller) than the official HK tourism web(official web is more towards promoting/advertising):
http://www.hongkongextras.com/index.html

My previous trip, I did go to Cheung Chau. A bit late at 3pm and my parents are tired liao. Also, rain a bit shortly after we reached there. So, only see the Pak Tai temple, walk along the beach and around the town area. There are many seafood restaurants there, live seafood, price looks reasonable but we didn't eat there.

I reckon if go in the morning, energetic and adventurous, can follow the walking trail and explore Cheung Chau. Do take note that the ferry fare is more expensive on weekends. If you are generous with your time, take the "ordinary" ferry will do(which I did), no need to take the "express" service. You can find the ferry schedule and fare from New Ferry web.

Btw, have you visited the Ten Thousand Buddhas' Temple (Man Fatt Tze) previously? I would recommend this temple.

Do check on the link above, lots of idea, esp those off the beaten tracks. I did the "scenic bus ride" to Stanley. And I visited Tai O fishing village on Lantau Island, that's after Big Buddha and Wisdom Path.

Hiya, I read your blog while preparing for my trip. I went 6 months after your trip, in March, on first day of second month (Chinese calender) - nice cool weather. That's according to the Chinese Calender, a few days after the "Spring starts" day. I'm now starting to believe in those special days (those "seasons") reflected in Chinese calender, quite accurate to predict weather, esp if pertaining to the Northern China..

yeah Ami, i remember you. smile.gif
thats why now go anywhere also gotta check the weather forecast 1st, to avoid heavy rains, typhoon,
or ultra hot and dry weather.

though highly doubtful high/peak season tickets will be that cheap from Air Asia.

Hi guys!

Me & my GF going HK end Nov, pretty much have our itinerary planned out, just still undecided between Ocean Park & Disneyland. Short trip so can't go both, which one is better considering neither of us have been to HK or any disneylands before?

Both are with different theme, really depends on what you like(or rather what your GF likes, better follow her wish ah).

Disneyland - for the sake of telling ppl, "ya, I've been to"
- if you both like and familiar with Disney characters, like Mickey Mouse and friends, Winney the Pooh
and friends, Snow White, Cinderella etc.
- most rides are kind of "kiddy"
- the musical shows are great
- fireworks is great
- no outside food policy, but many choices of food outlet in the resort, reasonable price.

Ocean Park - besides seeing marine creature like dolphin, sea lion, jelly fish, fishes etc, there's also Giant Panda
- great aquarium,(atoll reef), great live jellyfish exhibition
- more "adrenaline rush" kind of rides
- great shows
- cheaper entrance ticket than Disneyland

Both places are flooded with mainland tourist (group tour), they tend to jump queue and dirtied the toilets..

Good luck deciding...

Looks good to me, kind of relaxing and not rushing all over the places.. Seems like you are not into shopping ah?

Some comments here:
Day 2, NP360 is just the name of the cable car, so actual sightseeing is the Ngong Ping Village, Big Buddha and Po Lin Monastry. While there, can also visit the Wisdom Path. Looks like you'll have ample time, so I suggest after that, take the New Lantau Bus from Ngong Ping to Tai O - a fishing village, can have your lunch there if not taking the vegetarian meals at NP or Po Lin Monastery. Either take a bus back to NP and cable car back to Tung Chung, or bus from Tai O back to Tung Chung(40mins bus ride, around scenic mountain's and sea view, also passes by a big reservoir). At Tung Chung, can jalan jalan a bit at CityGate Mall - the outlets mall, even if you are not into shopping (hmmm, just enjoy the air-cond a bit)....

Day 3, am - not sure what ya means by HK Island City?
I would suggest instead of taking star ferry on Day 2 night, take the star ferry from TST (bus from Jordon to TST terminal) to Wan Chai Pier and visit the Golden Bauhinia Square.

Day 4, after Ocean Park, how about dinner and jalan jalan at Causeway Bay?

Day 5, after Disneyland, maybe jalan jalan at Ladies Street and have supper at Mongkok area?
