Hi. I just gotten the umobile with zte 2 year contract yesterday. Can I ask, how to I enable torrent?
My torrent app is showing 0 connections n 0 speeds.
*
This is no fiber, so torrents are not allowed. I read somewhere if you want to torrent u need to have VPN, i myself never tested it tho. sweat.gif sweat.gif

did you upgrade?
will it void warranty? does it have any warranty stickers around the screws? read somewhere that turning off the LED lights helps reduce heat as well.

Problem with most modern 5G modem routers i think, even my Tplink NV510x is hot as hell during operation before i fork up a simple USB fan router cooler and put it underneath the router. sweat.gif sweat.gif

yes betul - now i put the 5G Home sim card back into the Zyxel 5103E - no issue ... speed also increase back.

The ZTE just put one side pending swap for U Mobile to contact.
*
Fuhhhh luckily dodge the bullet, i was soo tempted to just get the contract to get the free router modem just to use as backup modem if anything happens with my TPlink NX510v sweat.gif sweat.gif

Tplink NX510v user here, never faced auto reboot b4 but every 2 months or so connection would drop, easy fix is just to reboot the router modem. I am using a cheapo router cooler fan tho, that could have help with reboot issue mebe coz without it, i do find the temp at the front of the modem quite hot. sweat.gif sweat.gif

I think I will submit a report for MCMC already, cause previously on a good day with 888S I can get 2XX Mbps, lately its just wood speed.
*
When it all started, i could get around 600mbps from my modem placement using the same modem, nowadays with more and more 5G users using the network, my Uhome 5G speed stuck around 250-300mbps only.. sweat.gif sweat.gif

Anything more than 200mbps is good enough la, don't forget you only pay a peanut for the 5G package wink.gif

Be contended with what you get.

Lol, coming from using 4G router before with speed of 30mbps, i am content already.. laugh.gif laugh.gif

Just hope that with more and more users coming online with 5G we won't see the speed going down & down anymore lah.. touchwood.. lol biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

QUOTE(ultrageek @ May 3 2024, 04:02 PM)
So my office bosses are allowing me to use the Deco for long term. And so here are my findings after resetting it and messing around. Comparisons will be made against the ZTE that U Mobile provides:
a) Averaging 600Mbps on SpeedTest to ViewQWest across two tests performed in the morning and now (in the midst of PJ's thunderstorm!)
b) Unable to split the wifi signals to individual 2.4 and 5Ghz
c) Unable to control the strength of the wifi signal (Don't like the idea I'm blasting out my frequency for all and sunder to view)
d) Unable to lock the 5G and 4G network bands
e) Unable to lock to just 5G signal and not fallback to 4G
f) Everything is performed through the app (Web portal is pretty much information only for the Deco)

So in short, if you want a very controlled and PnP device, this is for you! smile.gif

All this points are for the Deco or the ZTE? hmm.gif hmm.gif

Also, came across this in TP Link's website:

Hmmm NX200, no mention of what chip its gonna use, tho comparing the band support seems broader support than the NX510v.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Uh no. Just an ordinary Joe having the chance to use both the ZTE (mine from the 2 year contract) and the TP-Link (from my organisation as we were planning to use this on roadshows, lease line backup, etc. and how it would tahan running 24x7)...

If you are like me, on a 2 year contract with the given ZTE, then you would know that all that I have mentioned, are user changeable, whereas it's not possible with the TP-Link. All those features are locked which is a pity as I thought the TP-Link would be better in that regards.

Oh well...
*
Are u really sure the Tplink cannot do all that? Even my Tplink NX510v can split the wifi 2.4ghz and 5ghz, lock the band etc leh.. Seems absurd for tplink to release almost identical products but with so much difference in its setting capability.. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Hi Folks,
Any 5G modems to suggest as the Deco isn't able to split nor control the WIFI signal strength?

Now many  modems have been put forth, and having checked them out in Shopee, almost all (sans the Deco and Huawei (?)), are 2nd hand or resold here with a limited warranty (aka 1 / 3 / 6 months).
How stable are these resold modems? Anybody had any failures after the sellers warranty expired?

Thanks in advance...
*
Tplink NX510v can split the 2.4ghz or 5ghz, just turn off the smart connect thingy then you're good to go.

How is UM speed compared with YES?

Depends on location, my place YES suck.

Which router is UM using now?
*
UM have 2 type of router, 1 is the ZTE MC888s AX3000, another one is the Kaon AX1500, stock wise all up to luck.

Guys, I’m interested to get this but for the 4G

My parents’ home only has 4G coverage & I do have an extra Olax 4G + Parabolic antenna from my old setup

Does this Uhome68 really have 1000gb quota regardless 4G/5G?
*
Yes it does, 4G/5G quota is unified.. Tested it in my 4G router before.. thumbsup.gif

QUOTE(xswatch @ Jun 5 2024, 07:39 AM)
my maxis fibre contract ending in a month time. after reading about so many issues with the free modem from umobile, I'm thinking on getting tplink x50 since latest update can lock band already & comes with 3yrs warranty.

however I'm thinking to get a55 as spare phone (current phone start having issues) with the postpaid 98 instead. just need to +30 from uhome rm68.

question: postpaid 98 comes with 1tb data & can use as hotspot all of the 1tb data. will the hotspot only function inside phone & mod router only? i mean, if I put inside stock non-mod router will it work? example tplink x50 or nokia fastmile. I mean I want to use the 1tb as hotspot purpose but using non-mod router. anyone use any postpaid from u mobile ever try this? thanks in advance smile.gif
*
IIANM i read somewhere umobile has start blocking sim plan used for phone on router nowadays, i think someone even mention in here that their phone postpaid could not be used in their router anymore, pop it back in a phone it works just fine. hmm.gif hmm.gif

Well, depends.

If it switches often between 4G and 5G, then CelcomDigi would offer much better speed than UM.

Personally I would prefer to have CelcomDigi for their superior 4G network in case 5G goes down (sometimes it does goes down few times a day). However their price is really not attractive and no free router if you are not postpaid subscriber.
*
If its the Digi pre merger, i would say their 4G network is good, but nowadays their network is quite crappy at my place. My place it used to be celcom crappy and digi is good, now both is crappy ever since they consolidate their network tower.. doh.gif

Can someone give me their long-term review of their uhome 5G? would you be still using it instead of fiber internet? what about the speed? is it consistent during peak hours?
*
It depends on the area ur living at, my place the lowest speed it goes so far during peak hours is around 150ish mbps.. Still gonna keep using it i think, if they can maintain the speed and connection quality.
With a usage of around 300gb data monthly for streaming 1080p and browsing and downloads, it fits my budget nicely for only RM68 a month. Where got fiber with that amount of monthly payment so far.
Only downside is that can't torrent anymore.. sweat.gif sweat.gif

I guess it is suitable for my new home with only 2 people using. I particularly like the portability and easy installation

I am using TPLink NX510v for the UHome 5G which i had bought before Umobile even offer their router bundle deal.. sweat.gif sweat.gif
