It's not Kryonaut issue, it's more of my laptop fan issue where when it tries to spin more than 80%, it screeches then stop spinning

I think the fan is failing, need to replace it

I forgot to mention that the "value" temperatures is taken during idle
With the PTM7950, the fans never have to ramp up to more than 80% so my laptop never overheats unlike with Kryonaut
*
So the heat conducting still seems better with PTM7950 despite both test carried with a broken fan

How laptop fan ramp up according to your cpu temp, if your cpu felt hot it will keep ramping up its speed because the heat doesn't get transferred efficiently to the heat pipe which goes to heat sink, the fan keep running without the anticipated heat for it to disperse.

it definitely is because with PTM7950 the fan speed never go beyond 80%
My laptop is also a lot quieter now

No, still using the old one
New fan ordered from Taobao, haven’t arrived yet

Can’t wait to apply PTM7950 on my wife’s ASUS TUF A15 (year 2021)
It’s still using the stock thermal paste

Has anyone else noticed temperature changes after switching to PTM7950? I'd love to hear how much of a difference it made in your setups!
It would be especially helpful if someone could share their temps when using this on a desktop CPU with an IHS.

Share your before and after results biggrin.gif

I use this, purchased from specifically this seller (but via taobao)
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/honeywel...2810954266.html
I trust this seller as they seem to be the one shown in the video with better performance

It is good, only thing that keeps my CPU/GPU from thermal throttling
It is the best choice for gaming laptops other than Liquid Metal
for desktops, can use other pastes

as for babylon52281
Honewell is better in terms of performance
but it sadly not reusable
but no need anyways since you will never need to replace it
and it is designed for computer use, Lenovo uses it in their Legion laptops
Nvidia also uses them in their own GPUs (different model but still honeywell ptm)

Some tips:
Throw it into a fridge before you apply it, makes it easier to peel off the plastic film

A bit of correction: Lenovo uses a paste variant of the PTM7950, known as the PTM7958-SP, and they also use it on a few high end IdeaPads as well:

Unlikely to find it, but PTM7950 is close enough that we all can easily get

Just saw this part today.

Exactly! Just a heads-up—when applying it, try to do it in an air-conditioned room. You know how Malaysia’s weather is—hot and humid. Since the PTM7950 is a thermal material, it absorbs heat quickly, making it harder to peel off the plastic layer, even after refrigerating it overnight.

Speaking from my own experience, as soon as you take it out, it quickly softens when you handle it with your fingers.

Joining in the bandwagon as well. Been looking up for good thermal paste as gaming laptops really cook hard.

Device using: Acer Nitro 5 AN515-52 i58300h / GTX1050 4GB.

Initially I got a China unknown brand but highly reviewed on shopee, LK-17 which is said to have a thermal conductivity rating of 17W/mk.

First few month was doing great, but overall the laptop ran cooler despite for a mere cost of RM20 5g syringe. Both CPU GPU did not reach, say, 70-75 celsius under Acer Nitro balanced power profile. but when set to "Performance mode", it will spike to 79-85 celsius range, which is better than before repaste which could send it flying to 99.

After 2-3 months of using LK-17, things start to change abit, even on idling, it will spike to 50-55 celsius compared to initial stages as it would be always be below 50 no matter what profile I set.

So the time came, told myself what the heck, bought a 40x40mm PTM 7950 at RM16 (inclusive of shipping).

Not easy to apply on the chip dies, and not the fanciest despite putting it inside the refrigerator for 30mins.

Here is the results of using PTM 7950 for my Acer Nitro 5.

CPU still can spike to 80+ range if I turn on performance mode, but under Acer Balance profile, I can see a difference of 4-5 celsius compared to using LK-17 when running Unigine Superposition Benchmark.

Also did for another laptop, Lenovo Ideapad Gaming 3 15AHC6/ RTX 3050, this thing can even cook up to 99 celsius during EXTREME test in Unigine.

Will be monitoring it for a few more weeks/months to see if there's improvement as what they always said online.

Done another round of Extreme and then back to Medium settings for my Acer Nitro 5.

Both cores stabilize under 70 celsius after sustaining non stop of 2 rounds heating.

Under ambient temp of 23 celsius air conditioned room.

Even the fans will turn to 0 RPM and running very silent under normal idling. Can hit as low as 36 celsius and idling hovering around 40-49 celsius which is really good temps IMO. Under load should be below 60 celsius, haven't really push for gaming as I don't really game nowadays, but with benchmark tools like superposition unigine, gpu and cpu still below 80 celsius which is very considerably good and nice.

With normal Malaysian weather, the cpu temps will hover around 47-49 celsius. No more thermal paste from now onwards.

also did a disable "Processor performance boost mode" under windows 11 power options.

Not trying to say the normal standard thermal is not good, but from using default stock paste which could made my laptop run 55-60++ celsius, now I can get better heat dissipation with this PTM 7950 thermal phase change paste. Highly recommended despite having a flawed heat sink where the gpu and cpu is interconnected.

Highly suggest that anyone who wants to change their laptop or mobile device paste should really go for this PTM 7950, no point buying Artic or Grizzly but then in the long run face pump out and degradation over time.
