I’ve just bought a large 80mm x 160mm strip of PTM7950 and will be applying it to multiple CPUs and GPUs. Original price is RM84.27 before shipping, but I bought it for RM58.76 after vouchers & coins from Lazada Link: https://s.lazada.com.my/s.lSPfi ![]() This post has been edited by sHawTY: Sep 6 2024, 03:08 PM PRSXFENG liked this post

QUOTE(Oblah @ Sep 6 2024, 10:58 AM) cleaning out the struggling fans than the actual PTM7950. Since your laptop is already over five years old, you might also consider replacing the fans.Look up the fan part number on Taobao, Shopee, or Lazada, and you should be able to find a suitable replacement. |

Kryonaut vs PTM7950
I didn't clean the fans or heatsinks. I simply removed the Kryonaut with alcohol and then applied the PTM7950. I cut the PTM7950 to match the CPU and GPU die size before placing it in the freezer & the Kryonaut was freshly applied around two months ago. ![]() ![]() pandah FYI This post has been edited by sHawTY: Sep 9 2024, 11:40 AM |

QUOTE(pandah @ Sep 9 2024, 11:46 AM) Kryonaut only 2 months can get to 99 degree, does it pump out? Or the heavy usage makes it dry up? It's not Kryonaut issue, it's more of my laptop fan issue where when it tries to spin more than 80%, it screeches then stop spinningI think the fan is failing, need to replace it I forgot to mention that the "value" temperatures is taken during idle With the PTM7950, the fans never have to ramp up to more than 80% so my laptop never overheats unlike with Kryonaut This post has been edited by sHawTY: Sep 9 2024, 12:45 PM |

QUOTE(zero5177 @ Sep 9 2024, 01:02 PM) So the heat conducting still seems better with PTM7950 despite both test carried with a broken fan it definitely is because with PTM7950 the fan speed never go beyond 80%My laptop is also a lot quieter now This post has been edited by sHawTY: Sep 9 2024, 01:37 PM |

Has anyone else noticed temperature changes after switching to PTM7950? I'd love to hear how much of a difference it made in your setups!
It would be especially helpful if someone could share their temps when using this on a desktop CPU with an IHS. Share your before and after results |

QUOTE(pandah @ Sep 21 2024, 07:19 AM) Any legit supplier/shop here selling it? Just buy from the Lazada link I shared before lohDefinitely genuine based on my before and after results QUOTE(PRSXFENG @ Jun 21 2023, 11:38 AM) Throw it into a fridge before you apply it, makes it easier to peel off the plastic film Just saw this part today.Exactly! Just a heads-up—when applying it, try to do it in an air-conditioned room. You know how Malaysia’s weather is—hot and humid. Since the PTM7950 is a thermal material, it absorbs heat quickly, making it harder to peel off the plastic layer, even after refrigerating it overnight. Speaking from my own experience, as soon as you take it out, it quickly softens when you handle it with your fingers. This post has been edited by sHawTY: Oct 18 2024, 11:43 AM |

Yet another success story after switching to Honeywell PTM7950!
Just look at those temps! The fans are noticeably quieter too—and I didn’t even clean them! Before: ![]() After: ![]() This post has been edited by sHawTY: Feb 26 2025, 02:24 PM |

For Malaysians looking to use PTM7950 in our hot weather, here’s an additional tip: Besides chilling the PTM7950 in the freezer, you can also freeze some water on a shallow plate. Once the water has turned to ice, place the PTM7950 on top of it while you work on removing the old paste, cleaning the heatsink, and fans. This will help keep the PTM7950 cool for longer, making it easier to handle during application. With this method, peeling off the plastic film becomes much easier. Also, to minimize heat transfer from your fingers to the PTM7950, cover your fingers with tissue or another insulating material while handling it. Hope this helps!
