Better to just use something actually designed for computer usage and its also reusable

I have applied the PTM 7950 to several GPUs and laptop CPUs this past year. Compared to the other thermal paste that I have which is the CM Mastergel Pro V2, the PTM 7950 usually have around 4c better results. Application is fiddly though as there's 2 layers of plastic you need to remove on the material using tweezers or something similar.

I haven't used this on desktop CPUs though, they are expensive and desktop CPUs have much larger surface area.

EDIT :

Aside from the drop in temperatures, I also noticed the boost clocks are a bit higher as well especially on my laptop. YMMV depending on your specific designs.

4 c decrease is actually quite good i supposed, does it last long or need more frequent reapply?
Did you buy the big size and cut your self?
Need to cut exact size or bigger a bit than the surface to paste?
Does it melt away and drip to side?
Pls don't mind my question banyak2 😅

I use this, purchased from specifically this seller (but via taobao)
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/honeywel...2810954266.html
I trust this seller as they seem to be the one shown in the video with better performance

It is good, only thing that keeps my CPU/GPU from thermal throttling
It is the best choice for gaming laptops other than Liquid Metal
for desktops, can use other pastes

as for babylon52281
Honewell is better in terms of performance
but it sadly not reusable
but no need anyways since you will never need to replace it
and it is designed for computer use, Lenovo uses it in their Legion laptops
Nvidia also uses them in their own GPUs (different model but still honeywell ptm)

Some tips:
Throw it into a fridge before you apply it, makes it easier to peel off the plastic film

You can use it on a desktop but it's more expensive since you need a big slice of it

Plus the Honeywell is better for direct die compared to with an IHS

So the benefits are reduced for desktops
So you could just consider using normal pastes

- It's supposed to last for many years, and I have not noticed significant reductions in performance since application
- For the size, I bought the bigger one and then cut it to size
- Cut it as close as you can to the mounting surface size
- It doesn't drip to the side like more viscous thermal paste. When removed and not hot to the touch it looks like old hard thermal paste but that's just it's phase change nature.

In terms of viscosity when cold [more viscous to less viscous]
Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut > CM Mastergel Pro V2 > PTM 7950 > Normal squishy thermal pad

Still prefer traditional high performance paste than pad.

the problem with thermal grizzly kryonaut is the pump out that happens once it goes over 80c, so on a hot machine it will only last a few months or a year
the ptm wont pump out, at all, so it'll last for years

I'll say go for PTM, even the newer Thinkpads come with it, like P14s G4 has it

in the case of thermal paste, since TG Kryonaut is now almost a household name...I will actually recommend a sleeper which is better than Kryonaut, doesn't pump out at high temp like Kryonaut does, and outperforms Kingpin KPX as well - Corsair XTM70

not many ppl know about XTM70, most likely due to Corsair's old XTM50 being a disaster...but XTM70 is miles ahead of XTM50

I'm currently using XTM70 and have pleasant experience

how about the extreme version ? Does it still pump out?

The PTM is so hard to DIY and no shops out there sells it

You could also try Shopee (I got mine from this seller)
Costs more than Taobao but easier to use and pay with (especially if you have coins to burn).
Shipping was also quite fast for me.

Performance-wise I think cleaning out laptop fans now and then make a big difference also.

My CPU (i5-9300H in a Lenovo Y540) before cleaning/repasting with PTM 7950:
