Hi all,

i have been following this thread for a while and i did my submission yesterday at CPF Maxwell Service Centre, would like to share my experience here for benefits of all.

14 June - I filled up and submitted online form for account closure for Malaysian
19 June - I received email reply from CPF, telling me they need to verify my identity in order for them to process my account closure. i am given 2 options 1. filled up form and have all supporting docs verified by Singapore Overseas Mission then mail all the docs to CPF in Singapore for their processing 2. Present at CPF Maxwell Service Centre to submit all docs for their processing.
26 Jun - Manage to make online appointment on 10 Jul at CPF Maxwell Service Centre
10 Jul - Present at CPF Maxwell Service Centre to submit all required docs

CPF Officer informed me they need 14 weeks to process the account closure and another 2 weeks to process TT payment to my Malaysia bank account. In case of any issues they will contact me so now just sit and wait for 16 weeks (4 months).

You don't have to renounce, as long your re-entry permit expired and you do not renew it for long enough, you are no longer PR in the system, in another way to verify yourself, if you have Singpass previously and suddenly you can't log in to CPF account, which gives your the hint that your PR has probably been canceled automatically, this happens to me.

Hi, i have lost my SG Blue IC.

Do we need to return the SG blue IC when visiting CPF Maxwell office or we need to use that "Write to us" method so that we dont need to return SG blue IC and just need a UOB, OCBC SG bank accounts that registered using my SG PR IC?

Thanks.

I recently closed my CPF acct in person at Sg maxwell. I was informed (during the appointment, after everything finished) that I need to update my sg bank particular (DBS) as my NRIC no longer valid, and I had to go to Lavender citizen pr service to hand over my IC and renunciation letter, after that I updated my bank particulars at DBS main branch at Marina south. was a bit rushed, but I did everything in one day (appt at CPF 12pm, hand over IC at lavender 1pm plus and then updated bank particular at Marina at 2pm plus.

You don't have to hand over your IC, but the DBS person said that since the account is opened under my NRIC and is no longer valid, it would be better to update to MY ic. and for that, they require the ICA letter.

My experience was:

22 Jan - last minute get appointment at CPF maxwell TWO days before the appt (check in the website on monday morning for appointment dates released, I was told they release every three weeks in advance but always got last minute slots).

CPF appt on 24 Jan at maxwell, was told FIVE months to process! (but they will continue to pay CPF interest rates up till 31 Mar, thereafter its bank interest rate which is close to zero.

Jan 31 - received email saying my closure submission successful, today checked my DBS bank acct and the money is in!

So, the fastest way to get your money is to have it transferred to a local SG bank acct, if you still have one.

Does it mean it's not compulsory to update bank account details to Msia IC?

Yeah. Appointment on jan24 Money banked in jan31. My case straightforward as I had the original sing Ic and old passport when I was working in sg. They need this to confirm your identity. Also was backed in to my still active sg bank acct.

Dividend will stop after mar/apr.

Still plenty of time.

That’s what I thought however when i closed the account on jan24 I asked them to print the balance statement and it showed X amnt up to 31 Dec 2023. Then when i received the money on jan31 it was still X amount. Meaning I didn’t earn any interest from jan1-jan24. Will write to them asking to clarify on this.

I’m seeing a high variation in processing time 7 days to ~5 months for me and still waiting.
Was wondering what cause the duration different.
Anyone waiting longer than 5 months?

I think I read from previous post somewhere said new date open every Monday. But occasionally has some spots available in certain days. Can check everyday.

Anyway, I booked myself previously and arrived rather earlier than the reservation time from what I feel from the counter service person they will take walkin customer and the place is not crowded Maybe the booking system is just a system to prevent high number of people turn up. But this just my observation.

Since you did not renounce pr but reentry permit expired, did you have to surrender the PR IC to the authorities? Or you're still keeping it?

I tried to book the appointment early this morning, 6am+ and 7am+, they allowed me to book the date 3 weeks from now, with plenty of time slots available. But you are not allowed to select other dates .

After 9am, I tried again, received the message that all slots have been taken up.

I tried again after 5pm, there are 2 slots available for tomorrow, and only tomorrow, cannot select other dates.

It is still with me.
I do not know the procedure, if one day I receive the request from the authority, I will return it (if required).
