Hi all,

i have been following this thread for a while and i did my submission yesterday at CPF Maxwell Service Centre, would like to share my experience here for benefits of all.

14 June - I filled up and submitted online form for account closure for Malaysian
19 June - I received email reply from CPF, telling me they need to verify my identity in order for them to process my account closure. i am given 2 options 1. filled up form and have all supporting docs verified by Singapore Overseas Mission then mail all the docs to CPF in Singapore for their processing 2. Present at CPF Maxwell Service Centre to submit all docs for their processing.
26 Jun - Manage to make online appointment on 10 Jul at CPF Maxwell Service Centre
10 Jul - Present at CPF Maxwell Service Centre to submit all required docs

CPF Officer informed me they need 14 weeks to process the account closure and another 2 weeks to process TT payment to my Malaysia bank account. In case of any issues they will contact me so now just sit and wait for 16 weeks (4 months).
*
I m planning to go down to SG to process everything.

Do I still need to submit it online form before going down? or just skip and direct go down to sg?

You need to make appointment with CPF too. You may want to check with them while making appointment if you're doing it by phone.
*
Ya, I see their website got "make an appointment".

You might want to call in advance to see available slots, unless your visit there is for another reason. Sekali no slot.

Not purposely going down for CPF. It is a business trip.

Just maybe got time and pass by.

"Make an appointment at least one working day in advance, as counter services at CPF Service Centres are available by appointment only. "

Since you're going down tomorrow just make an appointment today? Can make appointment online too
*
I haven't done anything or appointment. Just kepoh kepoh there to collect info if have time.

I will go SG many times for business trips. So no hurry for the appointment.

But if like mushigen said, "appointment backlogged", then difficult. sweat.gif

Make an appointment next week online. It seems like need to advance 2 weeks to book the appointment.

Last 2 trip to SG failed to book. (Also tight schedule)

I wonder, with our last-minute mentality, how bad the q will be when it's closer to the due date.

Do give us a field report when you are there, ya.
*
It is still fine at last minute. Your money won't go anywhere. Just no dividend payout.

In the booking page, you don't have much choice of date and only shows to you the 2 weeks advance date available. And even got to book into time particular detail.

They have a choice of different cpf center to choose. And available date.

yes, embassy helped you to do everything with a fee. think it's RM100+ (for the purpose of certifying your copy is true copy)
*
That’s cheaper a lot then the air ticket + taxi + time to go down SG.

Yesterday went to the CPF Maxwell Center after booking an appointment 2weeks earlier. The service is very good. Guide you start from you enter. Transaction is smooth and fast. Less than 1/2hr, all done.

Take the number and walk down to the basement on the left side. Wait for your call.

The document you need is
1) IC. If you register under an old IC, make sure you have an old IC particular. The IC number is important. He search your acc through IC number and name.
2) Passport.
3) Bank letter if you want TT money back. Go to the bank counter, and tell them the CPF particular need. Make sure the letter have letterhead, your bank acc, name, Bank address and SWIFT code.
4) Your Email.

This is 3 important doc. Bring together like CPF statement and an old passport (that you work in SG) if have. In case they need an additional doc.

They will fill up the form for you in the PC. What you need is to confirm the filling is correct and sign. They will photostate your IC, passport, and Bank letter.

You can ask them to print out the latest statement. But it didn't reflect the final amount. Cause this yrs interest hasn't been calculated into. The final amount is only available when bank in/ email to you.

The process will require 4 month to bank in the money. So probably I'ill only can get it end of Dec. But I think there is no hurry. Cause can earn more in interest if your money stays longer inside.

It is not necessary to go to Maxwell Center if appointment is full. Choose other centers available at your preferred date. Maxwell Center probably is the nearest from the airport I guess. About 20min.

Hi, thank you for the update.

May I know which old/new IC you are referring to? Malaysia IC or Singapore IC?
Why do you need to provide Msia IC for them to search if you are/were a PR as your cpf account number follows the PR IC number kan?
*
I didn't apply for PR and not SG PR. I use MY IC to open CPF acc. So he got to search my acc using MY IC. And I look at him like having difficulty searching.

I ask him if now close the cpf acc and what happen later working back in SG and as PR. He said I got to return back all the money I took out into CPF.

agree, withdrawing and convertig to MYR for FD or EPF doesnt seem like a good deal if currency exchange rate is worsening...

If you know where to invest, it is better to take it out.

Example if you want to do business. Or invest in ETF and US market.
