just performed a restore with my 1.1.1 firmware and finally moved over to 1.1.4 - did a jailbreak on that too, highly recommended : improved speed and reduced bugs/glitches. smile.gif

Except for the marware wallet that might cost a lil more in retail stores, the other both free gifts are bloody cheap stuff.
I worked in one of gadget stores before, so yes i know.

Actually no risk, at least for me. If you have problems, just do a fresh restore and maybe start over.

yes and no, jailbreaking does void warranty but you can unjailbreak your pod back to its virgin state. just as long as you dont spoil it when its jailbroken

1.1.1 is the starting point of firmware, it's buggy and crap but if you wanna restore to fresh state and this is the firmware to downgrade too. 1.1.2 is just some bugs update while 1.1.3 has slightly additional features and 1.1.4 is the latest and the additional features are wiggle and webclips. It's also the best firmware up-to-date.

You can install lots of stuff after jailbreaking like games, instant messaging client, VOIP (requires alot of work btw), and many more apps to enhance your iPod touch.
