just did everything without having to perform a restore. good write-out, following the instructions would ensure that everything goes just fine!
there are some links from the ipod touch thread though, will copy them here as well when ive got the time. |

QUOTE(zc_squash @ Oct 19 2007, 10:06 PM) I'm afraid that you'll need to have a wi-fi connection to be able to do that. Even installing an application would require a wi-fi connection. lol bro how did you put up such a clear screenshot of the touch interface? is there any particular application involved? BLUECHIP: Time to post up some photos! |

QUOTE(zc_squash @ Oct 20 2007, 01:23 AM) It should by right saved to Photos and would appear the next time u sync your iPod. But i didn't get that. So what i do is i FTP into the iPod, go to Media -> DCIM -> APPLE 100. All your screenshots go here. Right click on the file, and click Open. WinSCP should be giving you a warning now but just click OK to dismiss it. When your screenshot open up, right click on it and click copy. Paste it anywhere you want to. So there you go, your screenshot. There is a way to do this using SSH but i thought this is even easier for me LOL. lol my APPLE 100 folder doesnt seem to be around.. i wonder why.. I hope u get what i mean. i wanted to include some screenie for you but my ipod cable is in the room and my grandparents are sleeping so i didn't want to bother. LOLx. |

QUOTE(zc_squash @ Oct 20 2007, 01:47 PM) create one for myself? shouldn't the dock have done so for me? anyway just want to confirm the octal code for it. is it 0755? my other folder in DCIM happens to be .MISC (0700). This post has been edited by blu3chip: Oct 20 2007, 06:15 PM |

QUOTE(zc_squash @ Oct 20 2007, 07:05 PM) yes it was supposed to but in the event that it didn't create one for you, you'll have make one yourself. If i'm not wrong, the .MISC folder is a hidden folder? I don't have with me my sync cable so i couldn't check. But i have left the folder without changing any of its properties. it shouldn't matter whether it is set to the right permission or not as far as the screenshot thingy is concern. In fact, there are plenty of default files in the touch are in 0644 and they don't give any trouble. The basic rule is to set the permission to 0755 for new files that you copy over to your iPod. just tried creating a folder, still doesnt seem to do anything when i use the screenshot function from the dock. might try to reinstall the application to see how it goes. and yes, the .MISC folder is a hidden folder and as far as i can see the 0755 is a recognised code for the ipod touch. *edit: reinstalling the applications doesn't manage to fix the problem lol This post has been edited by blu3chip: Oct 20 2007, 07:20 PM |

QUOTE(Mike3300 @ Oct 20 2007, 07:15 PM) Btw, the only thing the iTouch has to use WiFi connection is just to the website and crash it right? The rest that requires internet connection is our PC? yes to your first question, and no to your second one.Added on October 20, 2007, 7:16 pmIs there any storage affect after jailbreaking/installing apps gonna take some space right? jailbreaking/installing apps hardly takes up any space, you probably won't notice a difference. im also pretty sure you're using an 8gb touch since space seems to be an issue that's bothering you but all i can say is, im sure that you won't regret it after having to go through the hassle. QUOTE(stringfellow @ Oct 21 2007, 04:34 AM) Yeah, i know that. But your words " The structure is MEDIA/DCIM/100APPLE" would imply creating subfolder 100APPLE within folder DCIM within folder MEDIA, from a "/" directory to start from. Clearing this up would help understanding it better. lol dont have to start an argument here, ive got it all sorted out thanks to both of you. This post has been edited by blu3chip: Nov 2 2007, 12:50 AM |

just performed a restore with my 1.1.1 firmware and finally moved over to 1.1.4 - did a jailbreak on that too, highly recommended : improved speed and reduced bugs/glitches.
