ehm... i'm still on 1.1.1... any chance of upgrading to 1.1.3 without losing any of my stuff?

Added on January 29, 2008, 11:51 pmnvm... have to restore the ipod. sigh

tried removing summeboard and the iphone apps manually since i installed them earlier manually via sftp.

somehow the ipod got stuck at the apple startup screen and wouldn't turn off...

gonna restore and then jailbreak from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3

I believe the correct error code you're referring to should be (1604)? If so, reinstall iTunes and reboot your PC. It should work fine after that wink.gif

i don't exactly know the reason as well but i've kept my iTunes at 7.5 and will not upgrade till the 1.1.3 jailbreak is not buggy.

I succesfully upgradeded mine to jailbroken 1.1.3. the thing is, all
previously installed apps (such as psx4all, summerboard etc.) gone..

Is it normal guys? I can still see the apps listed in Uninstall section in installer btw.

yes it is normal. you should have uninstalled the apps before jailbreaking. i uninstalled some but not all so now my summerboard is stuck and cannot be uninstalled (anyways it is unsupported in 1.1.3). but i could uninstall Books, TTR and games and reinstall them back from installer. it should work again.

Yup..same as mine..
Summerboard is the only problem..
Without it we cant change the theme unless
using FTP client right?
Why should i miss the important step..haiyyaa..

Added on January 31, 2008, 1:31 pmFor anyone who have the same problem as me (Summerboard stuck after 1.1.3 upgrade) can try this
solution (using FTP Client):

1. First backup then edit the private/var/mobile/Library/Installer/LocalPackages.plist file to remove the summerboard program. just remove everything from the first <dict> to the last </dict> for summerboard only.
2. Backup then edit system>Libary>Core Services>systemversion.plist to change the version number from 1.1.3 to 1.1.2.
3. Restart phone then install summerboard again.

You should now be good to go!

I found it on Hackintosh.org Forum.Thanks to Sabad66!!
Please be aware that I never try this method n do at ur own risk smile.gif

Hi all..

Thanks to all of you, now i am a happy owner of an Ipod Touch 16G (OTB 1.1.2), jailbroken to 1.1.3 with all the extra apps. Have been experimenting with all the wonderful things that can be done with this ipod for the last 2 days.

All is working well, except for these few things that i hope the sifus here can help me out (or point me to the right direction).

1. The mail apps works fine on the first day, but on the second day i notice whenever i want to fetch my emails it just stuck to "Checking for emails.." and nothing happens. This happens to all email accounts that i have (pop, gmail). Have tried to delete the accounts, create a new one with different emails but still the same. Any clue why is this happening?

2. Installed today the latest summerboad for 1.1.3 (Ver 3.1-1) from the installer but i cant see any way to activate it. The status at the bottom keeps stating "inactive". How do i activate it?

3. I have notice that i have to reset the clock twice already because the clock is showing the wrong time.

4. How do i disable the auto suggest mode when using the keyboard to type something?

Others than that, i'm pretty much a very happy ipod touch owner, and would be glad to help any other new owners..

Thanks again.

stupid installer update killed my installer app. so i had to restore back to 1.1.1 and jailbreak again.

given the 'instability' of the jailbreak for 1.1.3 at the moment, i have decided to stay at 1.1.2 jailbreak for now.

Bout iTunes 7.6, i jailbroke my iPod touch (John Lennon 1.1.2v) using iTunes 7.6, i did read bout the "rumor" bout the 7.5 too, but i thought it was too troublesome so i did not downgrade it, the freeze (caused by iTune 7.6) was juz a rare cases of a few so, shouldnt worry bout that.

successfully jailbroken from 1.1.1 to 1.1.3 using ijailbreak.com's method. easy as pie as everything is automated but the ipod froze a few times scaring me. However, seems like it's normal behaviour.

1. Never encounter such a problem. Tarak tau lah boss...

2. This apparently is a common issue with Summerboard on 1.1.3. Many suggested to completely reboot your iPod and it should work right after.

3. Mine kept resetting to Cupertino. I reckon it is a bug. It's gay. I hate it.

4. There isn't a default option to disable it but there's a fix for it. There's a package called 'KB Fix' or something available in Installer.app under 1.1.1 Tweaks.

Thanks zc_squash for the info. Appreciate it.

I guess Summarize can wait, the default is good enough for now. And the KB Fix thing works, except that you will lose the double tap space for the dot (period). Maybe a new version will fix this later.

I'm still annoyed by the mail apps problem. Well the gmail thru safari works great though..

@Merang,

for the summerboard problem. Just hold down on your power/sleep button and turn off the ipod. And then turn it on again and summerboard should be active now.

Why do you need to jailbreak anymore? The reason why people jailbreak is because of the apps. You already have it, officially and legally too.

Thanks Gilthoniel, but i've done that (restart with the red slider thingy) countless times already and it just doesnt activate. Not a very big deal to me, but its a nice thing to have i guess..

@Merang, which jailbreak method did you use? I'm wondering whether that may have an impact on the Summerboard compatibility.
