to me, i think it has nothing to do with which batch of production, most importantly
is the iPod Touch Firmware (v1.1.1), Internet connection....
all these make it works !

hope you will overcome this problems...

finally got it jailbroken via jailbreakme.com *phew*
but rather than going to the main page itself, i loaded the actual download's URL instead : jailbreakme.com/files/y.tiff (if i remembered it right)
worked on 1st (re)try

hit another couple of snags during the actual jailbreak tho...

1) windows.bat did not run
- Rather, the MS-DOS Command Prompt came up for a split second & closed in a split second
- Solution : i realised that it was cos i didn't have the latest Java (v6.3) installed in my computer...apparently installing it into Firefox doesn't count in Windows Land. gotta install on IE. pffft.

2) "Cannot connect to device.....................blahblahblah restart computer blahblahblah"
- I followed ipodtouchmaster's video step by step, closed iTunes & killed all the related processes (AppleMobileDevices, iTunesHelper, iPodService), even restarted the computer as advised by the error message...no dice
- Solution : everything went fine & jailbreak succeeded...when i did not check on "Install SSH", though in the video he said to check that option. hmm.gif

so now my question is...what's the "Install SSH" for? so far, all my 3rd party apps work fine as far as i can tell. though i can't figure out how TTR works. i tried the iPhone apps like Mail & Google Maps, both work too.

Install ssh, will install secure shell protocol in ur ipod, this is use when you want to transfer manually files (themes, apps) into your touch using cuteftp for example. Otherwise you will get error like "connection refused".Anyway you can install openssh from the installer.

what do you mean by internet access sharing, is it ICS (Internet Connection sharing)? If you using wireless broadband router just connect your adsl modem to you router WAN port. The modem should in bridge mode.Setup all your adsl password and username in the router.

hahahhaa.... i've also changed mine few days back only.
it's located at \System\Library\CoreServies\SpringBoards.apps\English.lproj\StringBoard.string if i'm not wrong....
it's kinda cool... change it to whatever we want !

May be this week.. i'll try to change the CHARGING image.... if only successful. I prefer to do it manual way rather
than using CUSTOMIZE to change it.

Still trying to figure it out first before actually change it....

If yours only Modem+Router, means you don't have the WiFi feature for your modem.
You may need to have an Wireless Access Point (AP), then configure it and then you will
be able to connect to Internet using your iPod Touch WiFi features.

Note : You need a WiFi modem router / Modem Router+AP if yours is NOT wireless modem router, hope this helps.

Yeah you can definitely change it. If you managed to change your Slide To Unlock text, it wouldn't be hard to change the battery indicator.

actually it does leh...but as long as you remember to reset the iPod before bringing it in to the service centre (if possible), i.e. revert to factory setting to get rid of the jailbreak stuff. then you'll be fine. if Apple finds out you've jailbroken the set, then they can choose to not fix the iPod. or they will fix it, but at a price.

They will release SDK tools for developers to develop new apps for iPhone & iPod touch on Feb 2008. There's still no news about free apps officially and legally by Apple, maybe we have to pay.

Added on December 14, 2007, 10:41 amThe more Apple release updates, the more that they're trying to cover the TIFF patches/exploit.

Really stupid question. After jailbreaking to 1.1.2, do we still need to install summerboard?
