finally got it jailbroken via jailbreakme.com *phew*
but rather than going to the main page itself, i loaded the actual download's URL instead : jailbreakme.com/files/y.tiff (if i remembered it right)
worked on 1st (re)try
hit another couple of snags during the actual jailbreak tho...
1) windows.bat did not run
- Rather, the MS-DOS Command Prompt came up for a split second & closed in a split second
- Solution : i realised that it was cos i didn't have the latest Java (v6.3) installed in my computer...apparently installing it into Firefox doesn't count in Windows Land. gotta install on IE. pffft.
2) "Cannot connect to device.....................blahblahblah restart computer blahblahblah"
- I followed ipodtouchmaster's video step by step, closed iTunes & killed all the related processes (AppleMobileDevices, iTunesHelper, iPodService), even restarted the computer as advised by the error message...no dice
- Solution : everything went fine & jailbreak succeeded...when i did not check on "Install SSH", though in the video he said to check that option.
so now my question is...what's the "Install SSH" for? so far, all my 3rd party apps work fine as far as i can tell. though i can't figure out how TTR works. i tried the iPhone apps like Mail & Google Maps, both work too.
Install ssh, will install secure shell protocol in ur ipod, this is use when you want to transfer manually files (themes, apps) into your touch using cuteftp for example. Otherwise you will get error like "connection refused".Anyway you can install openssh from the installer.but rather than going to the main page itself, i loaded the actual download's URL instead : jailbreakme.com/files/y.tiff (if i remembered it right)
