For SMS or other notification usage. Audio format should be in the *.wav format.

Is there a website where we can download some nice (and short) sms notification tone? The default tone is a bit boring, and I don't like to use mp3 songs as sms tones.

Does anyone know how to disable the eT9 when writing SMSs? I can disable T9 by pressing * button and changing it to ABC, but the next time I write SMS, it will revert to T9 as default. How to permanently disable eT9?

Added on July 28, 2008, 3:40 pm

I found the solution in the xda forums. You can do this by editing the registry (use PHM Registry Editor):

This set default ABC mode in XT9:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\IME
CarrierDefaultTextMode=0
(0 for ABC / 1 for XT9) - DWORD Registry
*
I have upgraded my WM to 6.1 and since that I found that I can't use the keypad and T9 (predictive input) to type sms. Whenever I press the keypad, number will come out instead of alphabet. Normally, I should see a xt9, abc or 123 on the taskbar but I don't see anything of them after the upgrade. I have even tried to hard reset it...but no luck...now the purpose of having a keypad has been defeated. cry.gif

Can anyone help on this? doh.gif

When I first got my P750, that was the first thing I wanted to do too. Because my previous phone was a Sony Ericsson, I thought I wanted to copy and have the same shortcuts that I had with the SE phone. But after using P750 for a while, I have gotten use to the new WM interface, and I didn't need to do aasign shortcuts to the joystick. If you assign shortcuts to the joystick, that means you cannot use the joystick to navigate the screen (for single handed operation). Instead, i used launcher programmes for my shortcuts. Works good for me.

I don't know because I haven't upgraded my ROM to WM6.1. So far my phone has been very stable with not a single crash in months, so there isn't much need for me to upgrade.

As for your problem....i think I've seen / read about something similar...but not sure which forum it is. Try googling your problem and see which forum came up with a match.

hi all P750 users,

Been hunting for an upgrade to my old and falling apart Ipaq 6828. The P750 and Ipaq 612 comes to mind as I wanted something with a keypad instead of full touchscreen like Omnia or Diamond (not to mention more expensive by abt RM500-600 at least).

However, I have read lots of comments from various forums that the P750 is prone to hanging. A friend using the older P526 also confirms that his phone hangs a lot...especially with SMS with incoming calls / GPS...

I prefer P750 over the 612 due to VGA + front video call camera. WM6.1 official or not is available for both, so that is not an issue.

Can anyone care to enlighten me if I should go for the P750?

Regarding this hang issue, I'll share my experience of using this phone. I bought the P750 from PDA Expert and they installed many free software when I bought the phone. Great, but after a few days, my phone start to hang. After some research on the net, I found out that the hang is caused by certain 3rd party software, especially CE Star and SPB's software. I didn't have CE Star installed but I did have a couple of SPB's software, so I uninstalled those plus a few other programs that I don't need, and I haven't had a crash since.

Since then I have installed something like 20 new programs and games, and so hangs yet...and I am very happy with the phone. Plus I never had any problems with SMS'ing and receiving incoming calls at the same time, everything works okay for me. I'm still using the original ROM that came with the phone (WM6), and I haven't upgraded to the new ROM (WM6.1) yet, because there is not much need for me. People in various forums say that the new ROM has solved all the hang issue, so you can use CE Star and other programs.

Well, that's my experience. Whether you should go for this phone or not, it depends on whether this phone fulfills all your need or not...and only you can answer that. smile.gif

Will there be any free antivirus software available to prevent virus n spywarez for pda? Sorry for my ignorant, as I have never own a pda before, but have intention to get one very soon. p750 will very likely be my choice.

I'm very curious though, what will happen to the pda, when it's infected by virus? what might be the worst case scenario? I would assume virus only attack the software, or does it also attack the hardware, causing malfunction to certain part of the pda? Please advice. Thank you very much in advance.
