actly it depends on how many software u installed..and what software run when u start up the phone (start-up software)...but normally for Windows Mobile phone, its varies from 15MB - 25MB (for device with 64MB ram)(as my experience using Dopod 818, Atom 02, Asus P525, Motorola Q9h, and now P750) i think anything below 15mb ...erm.. a bit low..and i never encounter any WMobile phone with free RAM more than 25MB..hehehe..but maybe u guys got different figure out of my range...

Hi phahmeen....I'm thinking about upgrading to VGA rom as well. Which version did you installed?

And how's the VGA ROM? Stable or not? Got memory leak? Are all the features works okay, like active sync, video calls etc etc....thanks.

first, buy from a reputable shop
bring a friend who is into Pda
set your mind what you need from your Pda (Brand, ram/rom,3Gcamera,keypad or without,WM6.0/6.1 etc + budget)

there's nothing much you can check on the spot, it's just like buying phone.....

anyway these are the few things commonly checked on the spot before buying pda;

1. hardware button - make sure all buttons are functioning as it suppose to be
2. screen - make sure no scratches, no dead pixel [very unlikely]
3. body - make sure no scratches
4. phone function - try make some test call to check the clarity of the sound and volume, test the camera function
5. accessories - make sure all accessories is complete in the box
6. warranty - make sure the pda is locally covered [ not advisable to purchase AP pda ]

most important is to apply screen protector before using it !

after purchased test;

1. make sure test all the function e.g gps
2. battery - checked whether it suffer from charging problem, battery life etc etc
3. try to pair with other device e.g bluetooth, usb etc etc

my advise is to read up all 20 pages of this thread to check the common issue with this particular model!

btw Asus is quite well known for its quality product .... icon_rolleyes.gif

installing this version --> P750.VGA.WM6.1.v1.0.by.Sorg_GreateVK..very stable, it just that the date+day on Today screen in Russian. smile.gif Active sync...1st connection got problem, cannot sync. then re'paired' again and its ok. video call no prob.. im using smallest size of font still clear.
Memory, after installation, fresh ROM with VGA, i got 22MB free. then after install Spb Diary, and Spb Plus and running the phone bout 2 3 hours, memory still maintain from 16MB-18MB. maybe im using low resource software

I read in the forum somewhere that the VGA ROM has a bad memory leak. From a soft reset in the morning, the memory will be around 20MB. But by the end of the day, the memory will only be around 10MB left. Now that you have used the new VGA ROM for a few days, can you confirm this?

Another thing that worries me is that I have a lot of software installed in my phone. I'm not sure if all of them would work on a VGA display. Do you have any problem with software not being able to work on your new VGA screen?

Apart from above, how's the P750 working so far....everything okay? I'm really tempted to install the VGA rom.

i cant tell much coz my phone got 2 extra software ony coz i dont like too much software in my phone. Ive installed SPB Diary and SPB Pocket Plus. Thats it, and memory? this morning ive restart my phone and got 22mb free and 10pm (now) it still got 13mb. Usage, medium.Normal call (less than 20 times answering voice call and 3 times video calls), software usage - using pocket word and exel and my phone sync'ed with microsoft exchange with continuos sync option.

for me, if u want to try the ROM, it's better for u to save/backup ur current ROM coz it can be installed back if u dont like the VGA ROM.

the phone run like normal. Just hate the Russian language for Date and Day in Today Screen.
