QUOTE(otherwise @ Dec 19 2007, 12:42 AM) Im not sure about this, today i get a hsdpa signal all the time,i placed my handphone beside my usb modem. Is this a new theory? You should perform a direct swap test, meaning record the avg speed and then change back to ur modem and then repeat it once more, then you know for sure if the modem device factor plays a part. |

QUOTE(mac.tay @ Dec 19 2007, 12:30 PM) Here's the funny, everyone know that wireless is very much location dependent and denying trial period will spell doom for Maxis. Obviously the number of "product" return must be high enough for them to void it, they should go and understand why the consumer returns the product rather that disallowing them. That's how poor the service and consumers' rights are at in Bolehland. Another sad case...... |

I think the issue is the way they promote their Wireless BB. In overseas where wired BB is very stable and you get what you paid for. As for wireless, it is only when there's no wired option or constant travelers (UTMS/HSDPS or WiMAX) where performance are known to be poor as the signal condition is vital. In Malaysia, due to the disappointment of wired BB (& limited ISP), the users' expectations are high due to the marketing strategy adopted by our "honest" ISPs
: i pity those sales agent, low $$$ but kena kau-kau when things goes wrong. |

QUOTE(doinkz_gaara @ Dec 21 2007, 12:00 AM) I used credit card to pay my 1st bill, but there's no indication that it is paid already in the website. O_O It supposed to show the payment & balance due. But the system is quite weird, even if you paid extra, it will not show, it will only show Charges Amount and Balance until the next due date. Better go and check it out with Maxis, if not you might end up troubling yourself with unwanted issues.QUOTE(wrigglerr @ Dec 21 2007, 09:32 AM) If u have use it then pay it................ and if u want to cut your acc, then find yr friends or new subscriber to take it up, RM 50 for transfer fees. Second that |

QUOTE(sui @ Dec 23 2007, 11:47 AM) anyone realize that in your online maxis self care portal, your account number is less 1 digit? You have to add a "Zero" at the end of the 8-digit. That's how I pay mine online, even the CS will request for a 9-digit account no.Welcome NAME You have succesfully logged in Maxis Broadband My Account portal. Your account number is xxxxxxxx (8 digits) but in ur statement its 9 digits? this month i felt lazy so i just copied paste the account number and paid through maybank online, after 10 days i check my maxis account the balance is still there, then i realize something is NOT RIGHT which is i transferred the funds for an INVALID account number even though payment is successful I've bombarded the Maxis 1800 and 123 line like crazy as I face down since Friday. And the ppl is giving me 101 stories until I got fed-up and lodge an official at the Maxis 123 and their manager call back and told me that their tech support group could not communicate with them as their means of communication is DOWN!!!! |

QUOTE(betaiso @ Dec 24 2007, 12:32 AM) where can I buy a booster antenna for zte modem? signal is signal... the frequency range is what u should be looking at. U need something to boost the 2100MHz freq and the gain booster normally will not help much in this case as unlike TV, it needs two way communication (sent/receive) to achieve good performance.I don't like the DIY parabolic solution.. is the any other way to boost signal? can I get a RM50 TV antenna with build in gain booster and connect it to the modem? will it fry the modem? thanks.. |

LOL.... i was told that Maxis did do some software upgrading in the last 2 weeks to improve the latency thru some packet traffic re-routing but the results shows poorly.... rumors....
Anyhow, I think thanks to the high number of ppl going on holiday or Christmas celebration is contributing towards the great performance from Maxis... hope this can last for a long time to come.... i'm not greedy, but anything constantly providing 1.2mbps is good enuff for me...... p.s: Merry Christmas to all and a great 2008 ahead..... cheers |

QUOTE(hypermax @ Dec 25 2007, 01:32 AM) Wanna ask a noob question. Is there any download limit for maxis BB? Also, how's the speed if compare to Celcom 3g? On paper, there is a 3GB quota but most I've been on it for 3 months no extra charges. If for speed, you need to check your location if HSDPA signal is available. Best if u can get a friends account to test it out. If you are lucky, you may get constant >1.5mpbs. I've been getting around 700kbps to 1200kbps constant at my place in DesaParkcity, Kepong (usb package).I am currently using celcom 3g D68 and planning to switch to maxis if the price is right. |

QUOTE(XCremator @ Dec 28 2007, 01:03 AM) How is your usage per month? I dont particularly care about the speed. Atnyting more the 20 KB/s is fine for me but Im scared about the 3GB quota limit. ......averaging at 65GB d/l per month.... no extra charges in the billing for the last 3 months ....Has any of you download more the 30 GB or something? Scared suddently my bill come and say I have to pay 1k :swt: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've just switched to using the I2G RM99/mth package using a Sierra Wireless Aircard 875 for 2 days now. I must say, during daytime, the speed is superb at 1.8mbps but @ 9pm-2am, its only 600kbps....I'm still evaluating the performance. But somehow at my place, I could not obtain full signal (3 to 4-bars only), does anyone knows where I can the antenna for it??? Been searching high and low thru Lelong/Malaysian-Ebay/LYN but no answer.... This post has been edited by JWCheah: Dec 28 2007, 09:05 AM Attached image(s) |

QUOTE(wedjohn57 @ Dec 29 2007, 12:24 PM) your contract havent finish also can change plan? is thr any different compare with the package 138 last time u use? No, I did an exchange with a good friend of mine as he bought a new laptop with ExpressCard slot which makes his existing Aircard useless. So we did an exchange where he took up my USB while I signed in for I2G i heard tat ppl said I2Go didnt block bt port rite? Here's my findings: IP Header : 58.71.XXX.XXX » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Tracert to Google.com » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Speed Test : [location : DesaParkCity Signal: 3bars to 4 bars max] Cyberjaya : ![]() Singapore : ![]() Vancover Canada : ![]() Advantages: ZTE/USB service is actually under the MaxisBB, a separate entity from the voice service and Internet2Go is actually under the GSM umbrella. This means that the chances of I2G to go down is very rare unless one of the international linkage is down or the entire Maxis Voice Mobile is disabled. I was also told that the I2G was launched to support the corporate market which is not doing so well meaning that the total user vs their projection is way much lower, hence, it is not congested like the MaxisBB. The Speed is quite decent and stable, I've not experience the "connected but no data transfer" symptoms from I2G. When Idle, it will not switched to UTMS. Disadvantages: Speed and latency drops by at least 30% during 9pm to 2am (I suspect the high number of Voice traffic but not strong theory to back this up as they are not running under the same BW freq). I've failed to obtain a constant full 5 bar as I do not have an external antenna for my Sierra Aircard 875 (searched whole LYPlaza, SS2, Lelong, Malaysia Ebay; closes available in HKonline). In coming phone call does affect the speed even though the signal remains unchanged. Hence, I've placed my hp in another room. |

QUOTE(wedjohn57 @ Dec 29 2007, 10:51 PM) even ur ip is different range with us. so now u r register a new maxis line?so need to pay any extra charge? yeap as the ip indicates that it uses a different backbone... no hidden charges if u r an existing post-paid customer, either getting a new sim card for data only (same number) or sub-new line with data only (extra RM10/mth).i thk the attenna u wanna to buy need to order from other country , hv u try ask the guy who sold u the sierra 875 get the attenna for u? i think you are right about getting the antenna overseas as i've tried everywhere but the same answer; "coming soon but not sure". I'm seeking frens help in UK... should be here before CNY.... |

QUOTE(wedjohn57 @ Dec 30 2007, 11:13 AM) he apply new I2GO and his old package 138 transfer to his frd. right on.... i also thinking of change to I2GO, but i thk thr is no way beside of transfer account. But I must say, the usb was actually better for gaming performance and it was still improving... the I2G latency is somehow not stable. I was on 80ms to HK server when I started but after an hour it jumped to 300ms... then kena "kicked" for high ping.... Download speed was excellent during the morning.... 2mbps!!! |

Let see....
Sierra Aircard 875=RM370.00 Mthly fees = RM99/mth Usage for 18mths = RM1782 Total = RM2152 (equivalent to RM119.55/mth) Cheaper than the USB package but not the ZTE..... |

QUOTE(GeneJin @ Dec 30 2007, 11:03 PM) Would really like to check again as my previous post wasnt answered. I'm currently using a ZTE modem, would an USB modem be able to get a better signal reception? Please disregards the package used and currently my RSI hovers around 80+ up to 90, which is very very bad from wat i read in this thread. My best bet for you is to see if there is opportunity to further improve the signal strength. I personally do not think that the usb E220 possess any advantage in terms of signal reception as the internal antenna is weak as compared to the ZTE. In Korea/SA where the ZTE is used, they somehow connect the antenna with a different model which carries a huge dB gain but you must make sure that it matches the impedances. If all fail, all you can do is to continue to make complaints until the boost the signal in your location...... good luck........ (you should take your ZTE with charged batteries to nearby area to further capture the average speedreading. This should determine the direction of your base station; just my tots |
