hey guys, can teach me how to read my total data usage?

what's with the "e" and +007kbps?
*
1.16676e+007 KB means 1.16676 x 10(power)7 or 1.16676 x 10,000,000 KB
= 11,667,600 KB = 11.6676GB
your official "overused" is now at 8.6676GB. U should be happy....
lucky for me they only started showing from Jan2008.... i cannot imagine how my statement would be as i've completed using my 320GB HDD in 4 months.... blush.gif hmmm..... luckily wondering if they are monitoring the I2Go accounts too hmm.gif

QUOTE(butthead @ Jan 25 2008, 04:09 PM)
err... i thought power 7 means 11.6676 times itself 7 times?

i myself is coming into the 3rd week from registration.... my download manager total DL is closing into 53GBs with the last 5 days having connection issues and less than 2GBs being received...yup, about the same as you i'd say... averaging 17GBs a week... imagine if we get the full speed of our connection... it'll not be that amount of traffic going through their network...

as for I2GO they can be monitoring but not let you know about it  tongue.gif  which i believe is being done now... 1 thing i can assure you they can't do anything to the subscribers is because they used the term "unlimited access" (this is on the main maxis page) and also "always on" (which i saw somewhere)... this 2 term according to a friend of mine who is working in a legal firm states that the user is able to access their services without limitations in time if not in traffic, so they should have no authorities at all at curbing the users of their traffic usage... that is his interpretation...
*
Nah... the "e+007" is the equivalent to 10power7... same used in MicroSoft Excel (when the box is too small to display all the zeros)
If we get full speed.... i sure die spending all $$$ buying 1TB HDD.... rclxm9.gif
Let's hope your lawyer fren is right.....

a little bit confusing now..which is more good connection type UMTS @ EDGE? hmm.gif
as i state before,my connection type is turn from
UMTS with average rssi -75 rscp -80 ec/io -3.5 to
EDGE with static (which is not change) rssi -66 rscp -0 ec/io -0
but it seem my connection is more speed than before.. hmm.gif
ive test with maxis speed test n speedtest.net and the result look like improve (a bit..)

any one got idea what connection type is all about?? sweat.gif
*
Technically, best UTMS speed is at 748kbps and EDGE is at 368kbps. But i personally do believe that EDGE is more stable than UTMS..... of course ideally HSDPA tops it all. I think in your case is pretty much the same if UTMS is the best signal you can get. did you try to set 3G only to see if it helps?

btw... great speed now... measuring @ 1350kbps.... but somehow i cannot upload any attachment via LowYat.Net hmm.gif

I'm not having connection since yesterday...just the speed sucks starting on evening at 4p.m...

@parasys
About the tunnel thingy(SSH & Putty)
U said that now u can host a game already...means u host it from ur SSH rite?
But the tunnel didn't effect anything to maxis bb connection speed rite? Am i right? Correct me i'm wrong...
If the tunnel didn't effect the connection speed means the speed is still slow..but the advantage of tunnel is we can surf all ports/webs that maxis blocks rite?
I'm still new in tunneling, still learning...correct me if i'm wrong.
*
Tunneling helps to cover your tracks for your activities such as P2P and unblocking ports thru reverse port forwarding. It will affect the speed if your speed for P2P is throttled. It is the same concept if you are using VPN (Virtual Private Network).

Hi Guys,

I'm using Maxis ZTE MF600 wireless modem with the RM98/mth package.  I'm staying on the 8th floor.  RSSI is always between -<no spam links>m and -95dbm  any way to improve this?  I'm really sick on the inconsistent speed.  Hardly can access my Gmail and Hotmail most of the time.  Thought that Maxis will do better job than Streamyx.... guess not after all.

is it possible to change the ZTE modem's antenna to some other stronger antenna?  Will that help to improve the RSSI?  Please help.  Thanks.
*
Read post #1. Use a parabolic. Ur signal needs to get below -80dBm.

I've read so many post in regards to dc on MSN (not because of the recent issues) and i do think that it is due to poor signal and getting intermittent dc. Not everyone manage to improve the signal but you must first establish your areas "best" signal at nearest point to your basestation. U must take the effort to know which direction the base station stands in your home. It is pointless to put the modem at the East corner sticking right out the window when you basestation is at the West side..... doh.gif ...... I'm lucky as the basestation is clearly situated at my balcony's direction (some ppl say bad fungshui, I said GREAT SIGNAL!!!!) so even at 19th floor, really not much of a signal problem. hope this helps icon_rolleyes.gif ......

not recommended package becoz the HP laptop spec is actually quite poor (bad graphic card) and it is a 2 years contract..... very dangerous package. mega_shok.gif

I tried with the Parabolic Antenna thingy.  the best signal that I can get is -83.5dbm  and my modem is facing the closest base station (SS6/12 Kelana Jaya)

signal not very stable.  It keeps switching between HSDPA and UMTS

Any other solution?
*
hmm.gif Hmmm...... i guess you have to monitor this for a few days as Maxis themselves are facing some issues... wait it out for a day or two to see if there any changes.... else.... sorry mate.... no idea how to further improve your zte.... hmmm..... with -82.5dBm are you able to reach 600kbps?

Hi...i'm actually a new user of maxis bb registered on last Saturday(26/01/08).... As my connection speed was very poor since the 1st day i got the modem, can i get my refund back within 7 days of usage and return the modem+terminate my acc.? Got any condition about getting the refund ar? If got pls tell me whats the conditions...
*

U can only return the modem and canceled the account... the registration RM100 is not refundable as that's their charges for opening the account and other service charges... that's is what I've been told.... if u wanted to be safe, canceled it now and wait to see if their service will restore back to the "good old days". Else, go for I2Go.... my connection has not been affected by the recent "issues".

:: AVERAGING AT 190kBps (1.5mbps)

p.s: Hmmm..... i'm still unable to use speedtest.net as it hangs when it reached Uploading 99%.... not sure why... maybe maxis trying to mess it up for us so that we cannot check the "real speed". Therefore, I'm still measuring mine using the actual ftp/http download as that matters most.

any idea what's the strength of the existing ZTE modem's antenna?  3dbi or 5dbi?
*
Sorry... no info on the gain value of the antenna.... but normal standard should be 5dBi or less. If you can.... go to a h/w pc shop with all the equipment and test it out at the store.... probably using a 10dBi or 14dBi gain and read out the RSSI value, if it is compatible, regardless of the speed, the reading should show the improvement.

Hi All,

I'd tested Maxis broadband 384kbps modem and also Maxis 3G using my mobile at my place (Shah Alam U5) last year.

I found out they compress the image. Do they still now?
What about Celcom broadband, are they compress image as well?

QUOTE(boonboon @ Jan 31 2008, 07:52 PM)
Heard that it only happened to I2Go Package.
*
Yeap, they are doing in on MaxisBB. To my surprise, I2Go is not the same. There are some webpage I used to have un-finish image loaded on my E220 but not on my current I2Go (sierra 875). Keep on refreshing the page... it might get it right later on.... doh.gif

QUOTE(wedjohn57 @ Jan 31 2008, 08:11 PM)
my I2GO cant open hotmail fews days aldy, anyone same to me?
*
if you mean www.hotmail.com then I've no issue opening the login page, but i don't have an account so i did not try login' on.

Btw, I've used to have the "connected but no data transfer issue" once every week or so, but I realized that it is the my own hardware connection intermittent. I tot it sounded low-tech solution but everytime i encounters it, I just need to softly pressed my aircard upwards and the data started flowing in again, maybe my case is an outliers scenario but it solved it everytime.

"Shock beyond Recognition" - jwcheah, after he found out his Ipoh house able to connect to UTMS 5bar (-68dBm).

I was speechless when I'm able to connect to 3G at 450kbps in a room (w/o outside windows) near Taman Ipoh Jaya, which mind you, used to be a ONLY GPRS connection available area. I must say, thank you Maxis for not making me regret in bringing my laptop back to my hometown.... thumbup.gif
Btw, Gong Xi "Fat" Choy to all races..... may your 2008 be a prosperous one.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi Parasys,

I try to do port forwarding but still not succeed.... can u explain how to do this (ssh tunnelling)?
*
which part did you get stuck in? Unable to create the tunnel or SSH account config?

Those results were highly superficial. You've either tested it with a trial site which is not open yet for public use or the speed is just burst speed for a short period of time.Such speeds is doubtful for HSDPA networks unless they were performed in strict lab conditions. The ping rates are unbelievably consistent for a wireless connection.

Could you show us a network performance chart over a period of an hour or longer with such consistent speeds?Mind telling us where were the locations you made these tests?

To be honest, the speed has been great for the past weeks..... of course I'm on I2Go package which is slightly less congested as MaxisBB. I reckon that the area user population plays an important role..... tongue.gif

Sorry guys, I have to tell the truth. I had problems the first 2 months I felt like terminating.

Last Saturday/Sunday, I downloaded 8GBs in just 10 hours. The average speed was 260 KB/s.

When I got problems, I complains. So to be fair, I have to report when it's good also. wink.gif

Good job Maxis! thumbup.gif  (can't believe I said that tongue.gif )

My location is Bandar Menjalara, Kepong.

My neighbor as I'm in Desa ParkCity. I second your opinion on the performance lately and it is quite amazing to have a constant 2Mbps d/l speed, which is quite hard to imagine.... So far so good for now as I'm already mention, it is location, location, location...... maybe it is still low density usage at that part of Kepong..... finger-crossed hope maxis will keep up the good job!
