Mmm let's see.

My cross takes around 10 ~15 seconds doh.gif

F2L - 30~40

OLL + PLL 10~15

= 1 min ++ T_T

How to speed up?
*
your cross on top or bottom, do on bottom can speed up. F2L im assuming ur using fridrich since u didnt specify corners and edges so try looking ahead more.

I'm not amongst the best cubers in malaysia (T_T) but i tend to finish cross+f2l around 25-30 seconds eventho i suck at looking ahead.

Improve your cross time smile.gif

cross
- there nothing to it you just need to practice practice practice
- do your cross on the bottom, much easier transaction to f2l

f2l
-train yourself to do it really really slowly without pausing this will improve your lookahead thus you time.
-learn fingertrick might help abit

offtopic; hay darren we when same school in form 1.chempaka was it?haha laugh.gif

hmm i'm currently using the layer to layer solve and takes about 3:47 to solve it most of the times.....

is that the normal time for layer to layer solve?

actually any pro can list down ALL the type of solve? or at least the famous 1?
and then the average time you're suppose to get with the solve? so we can know if we're doing good or not...

i would also love to request for anyone to have the video (the good ones) that can teach the solve or any tricks, like how you're suppose to hold your cubes and so on so that we all can improve on this. some videos are just so dam sucks.

Actually, there is no so called "supposed time", that's why we've got people who can solve under 10 seconds and people who uses over 1 minute.
It's depend on your own cubing technique, e.g. finger tricks, algorithms you use, cube you use.

Me myself with LBL, 4 look LL, I can get it done in sub-40, and no it's not good, there are people who can sub-30.

And as for the method, the famous one are Fridrich, Petrus and Roux.

Fridrich method is the method used by most of the top cuber, I would say the top 10 in WCA website are all using Fridrich.

Petrus method is said to use the least step to solve. This method is based on block building, and looking ahead is very important in this solve in order to get good time.

Roux method is similar to Petrus but this method needs to inspect 5 pieces at the starting instead of 4 of Petrus and Fridrich. Also, this method uses M slice very often, in which, change of gripping is less often.

There are hell lots of videos available on youtube which you can find finger tricks, tutorial on each methods, even algorithms,
give some patience to watch them.

For the gripping, I can give some idea here.

For right hander, use your left hand to grip,
hold 4 pieces of bottom left corner(reference to F face) with your left thumb,
you middle finger and ring finger on the opposite site,
free up your index finger in order to push U'.

Basically that's the idea, hope you can get it, watch more videos to get a clearer image.

I do it on the bottom. Yeah fridich intuitive.

BTW did you memorise the algorithm for fridich? (I assume you're using it)
