Mmm let's see.

My cross takes around 10 ~15 seconds doh.gif

F2L - 30~40

OLL + PLL 10~15

= 1 min ++ T_T

How to speed up?
*

cross
- there nothing to it you just need to practice practice practice
- do your cross on the bottom, much easier transaction to f2l

f2l
-train yourself to do it really really slowly without pausing this will improve your lookahead thus you time.
-learn fingertrick might help abit

offtopic; hay darren we when same school in form 1.chempaka was it?haha laugh.gif

yours one and toy'r'us one got what difference?
*
chinese DIY can set the tension either you want it loose or tight its you choice.

while rubiks storebought(rubiks at toy r us) the tension vary from cube to cube and you cannot adjust the tension of it,at most of the time you get it quite stiff but if your lucky you get a good loose one .Its like cherry picking.

but if you would like to buy the chinese Diy i recommend Type C. Type C its actually replica of rubiks DIY the Rm 84.90 at toy r Us. It use the same mold as rubiks Diy 2006?or was it 2007( i forgot which year , but they say the best rubiks DIY batch was the 2006 mold, idontknow never got one for myself) cool2.gif

yea i guess so.
type A cut corners well but pop o so damn much.once i was solving it was doing the Z perm it all when smooth untill M2 U M2 U M U2 M2 U2[ M U2] sent the whole damn LL flying .well it wasnt all 2 edge piece and corner piece.

the old type D i heard was insane.the old core and screws. they said is on par with type A and it doesnt pop as much as type A

the new one. sucks max if you have the new screw .it will make you decapitated yourself. doh.gif
DEE JA VOO (from speedsloving ) found away to make the screw intact anyone tried?

its the old one. here i show a comparison

user posted imageuser posted image

the old screw head is bit thicker so it fit the core nicely while then new one is thinner + the new core (black ,the old one was transparent-ish white)it tend to drill inside the core making the hole bigger. hmm.gif .Making it loose averytime you solved it.

just the F2l? or the whole cube solve?
have you seen any video F2l video yet? petrus ,fridrich?

if havent here are some awesome tutorials. thumbup.gif

Badmephisto F2l tutorial

i learnt Fridrich F2l from the video. Took me while to get F2L sub -20
F2l you just need to practice practice practice alot. Improve your look ahead
while inserting F2l pair track other corner and edge piece that need to pair up.It might be slow at first but, the more you practice you get comfortable with it. the more easier to spot the next F2l pair. smile.gif

just f2l...i learnt jessica fridrich method already....to get cross take me 10-15s...finishing f2l about 25-30s...yeah...how to spot next f2l pair easily?
to spot F2l pair need lot and lots of practice with fridrich you wont become fast overnight, nor do any other method.it just constant practice ,while practicing you spot new way to slot your F2l pair , new way to pair you edge & corner, find the algos that suit you best. that why practice is needed. not like 5 ~ 8 hours a day just couple of solves ,25 ~35 is already okay to improve your F2l if your busy.

maybe you could make average out of 3 solve video. and post it here let ppl like neutral or any other veteran cuber to give advice

QUOTE
u spot the edge or corner first?

corner first since it easier to spot white on a corner (since my cross is always white, depends on what your cross is if its green then corner with green is easier to spot then an edge piece). wink.gif

QUOTE
Mine's new? huh.gif

you can unscrew it and compare with picture i post on page at. the comparison. the old on the neck is larger while the new one is thinner. icon_rolleyes.gif

yeah...im not done it a night only...2 months practising fridrich...i have record my own video but with basic method...since it is faster than f2l... lol..  how fastest u are? biggrin.gif
*
well you gotto to ditch you LBL for good if you want to improve on fridrich F2l that what i did. suffer the whole week around 1m12s but gradually decreasing by 15 second on the second weeks that before i learn 3 look OLL (that time using 4LLL)

now averaging around 24~27 on a good day ,normal day around 26 ~ 29 , bad day can reach mid 30s sweat.gif

hmm...try to look for the solution and see the amount of turns needed for each case...then create a solution urself using intuitive that the amount of moves needed is same with the solution....then u would not have any unnecessary moves
Try to learn back slotting..as in u can create and insert ur pairs at the behind slots instead of front slots..so u will reduce ur cube rotations.. try praticing like this >> do R' U' R on a solved cube..there is already a pair there.. now insert it with R' U R... and also do L U L' to setup...then insert with L U' L'... keep doing this and soon u will get used to back slotting...
*
woah this took awhile to get used to. icon_question.gif
i just practiced slotting F2l pair from any position sweat.gif , to reduce regripping took awhile get better with it.

Neutrals you know any rubiks competition? i m bored playing all slone doh.gif

There was a rubiks competition few months ago...but I didn't know about it and missed it.. if not mistaken..this december maybe will have an official competition...but not sure succesful or not..they are planning to organize it..
Slotting f2l pair from any position is very good.. but u have to be good in F and B turns to do so,..I am weak in F and B turns.. so I prefer to rotate y

=.= dont understand your shortcut terms at all
*
i `ll make it simple as you know CFOP stand for
Cross
First two layer (f2l)
Orient last layer(OLL)
Permute last layer(PLL)
or it widely know as Fridrich . In PLL ,you have 21 different cases that you need to memorise in this 21 cases their in group consists of
Edge Permutations(4 cases)
Corner Permutations(3 cases)
R Permutations(2 cases)
J Permutations(2 cases)
N Permutations(2 cases)
G Permutations(4cases)
Other permutations (4cases) you can look up here Dan Harris PLL algo for references. I hate G perms because the algo are long to memorise but Neutral manage to memorise them all icon_rolleyes.gif

OMG! lol if PLL is so hard, why not just use OLL instead? is it that PLL is faster?

i'm learning how to do f2l now happy.gif and i think i'm not doing too bad =p
*
@Laliloo . lol is not hard i just hate long algo to memorise. but i like excecuting OLL & Pll algo thou.icon_question.gif haha.
you need both the OLL and PLL to finish the last step of Fridrich. think of it as Two part sequence
. good luck on your F2l ohmy.gif

QUOTE(adeas @ Oct 25 2008, 11:14 AM)
