Heyyy, Oakey keeps crawling under the fleece bedding and pooping there. It's so hard to clean. Lately, he loves crawling under the bedding and sleep there. Is it because it's warm or something? But I bought him a lovely hideout with fleece inside too! Aww.. sad.gif

Hi Nikki let me share with you a neat trick to stop them from digging under the liner

Go to a hardware store and buy some self stick velcro
Be sure to buy both the fuzzy and scratchy sides, buy enough for all your liners.

Cut them into pieces and stick pieces of the fuzzy side on the liner and correspondingly located pieces of the scratchy side on the base of the cage (perhaps one piece in each corner? its up to you)
This way the liner will attach securely to the base of the cage but you can still easily remove to wash. (velcro is washable so just leave it on the liner and wash them together)

This is what velcro looks like, they are sold either in packets or in rolls which you can buy the amount you need by the length.

I got mine from Ace Hardware. I used it when Demon was small, once he figured out that he couldn't get under the liners anymore he stopped trying. Now in his new cage i do not use velcro but he no longer goes under the liners.

Wow thanks Cimredopyh. Never thought of using velcro. Lol. I got a meter of it today and I made a little hedgie bag for Oakey to sleep in. Now he doesn't try to crawl under the bedding again. biggrin.gif

@muchan86

Oh it's just a little bag I made out of his fleece bedding. I just sewed the ends and left one end open.

Here's a similar picture of it I found on the Internet. Mine's just smaller.

Not suitable for them because

1) They have a tendency to look to the side when they run, the holes on the wheel have the same risk as wheels with spokes to cause injury by hitting the face and possibly causing eye injuries.

2) They pee/poo on their wheels while running, since the wobust wheel has a closed front design the pee and poop stays inside the wheel. The hedgehog will be running in this slushy mess all night

3) The width of the running area wheel is too narrow for larger hedgehogs ( yes even the wobust size is too narrow )

Wobust and other sizes of the Wodent Wheel are great for rodents, and wonderfully designed with their needs in mind. But unfortunately hedgehogs are not rodents.

Similar cases have happened in the past, one a few months back, nearly always the hedgehog is either severely injured or killed.
Simple case of human stupidity, unfortunate case of animal abuse.

I got it from those shops that sell buttons, lace, zips, etc. Those sewing materials. I got mine RM5.90 for a meter.
