High cut is all high like that.

Falco liberty is gonna be slippery in mud and dirt. Not suitable adventure off the tarmac.

I dont do offroad....but i tried looking for Alpinestars rt-8...has a more offroad friendly sole.... everywhere no size....sigh

LSH n their TCX boots may be my last hope.

my search finally ended last weekend...got my replacement for my Rev'It Trail H2O boots which is literally disintegrating. damn bang for buck boots. Bought at RM369 during some phased off clearance sale 5 years ago, done thousands of KMs with those boots.

checked out 3 TCX Waterproof boots:

1/ TCX S-TR1 Waterproof
- just looked ugly
- but looks to have the best protection as its more race inspired.
- also more expensive at 1.8k

2/ TCX Airtech 3 Gore-tex
- Looks good in pictures but IRL is really ugly.
- had a bit too much textile on the outer layer to have any confidence in it. prefer a more leather or leather-ish type outer layer.
- also more expensive at 1.8k

3/ TCX Explorer 4 Gor-tex
- Looks better than (2) but when walking around the sole felt really thin. and i have feet aches so no go for me
- the sole also looked to be the slippery kind.
- the ortholite inner sole is quite soft when pressed with fingers, but again, when walking around, sole felt really thin

so instead i got me Rev'It Link GTX Gore-tex boots from LSH (RM1539 iirc)
- full grain leather outer layer and looks more robust than the 3 TCX boots, especially when on the feet
- also has ortholite soles but not as soft as the Explorer 4 when pressed with fingers.
- overall thicker sole making walking more comfortable for me
- sole also is a little more "studded" so abit more confidence especially on wet surfaces.
- suspect itll be the warmest of the boots as it has zero textile outer layer so lesser ventilation compared to (2) & (3).

Looks suspiciously like my knockoff Benkia boots. Hahahaha.

user posted image

Given how remarkably similar they are , I won't be surprised they are from the same OEM. No doubt the Revit will be made with better materials, given it's gore Tex and to justify the price and branding.

Mine is pleather, and leaks...despite big waterproof logo on the shoe.

Goddamn!! Ahahahahhahahaha

They look so much alike....

I havent even had a chance to ride with the new gear yet...no rides in the near future as of now.

I carry Komine fabric gloves for wet weather riding, coz gloves will get wet no matter what anyway. Just squeeze out all the water and place them on the hot exhaust when you stop to dry them quickly.

If the gloves are of all-leather construction, some mink oil will make them water repellent... up to a point.
*
instead of the exhaust, put them on ur engine. engine retains heat longer than the exhaust which dissipates heat quite fast.

also engine isnt as hot as exhaust that can burn ur gloves....but hot enough to dry it rather quickly.

hi guys, i need some advice from you all

i was planning to buy a long glove, also i scare of hot weather and my hand will sweaty.

which one will be more better choice

= Clover SR-4 Long Summer Motorcycle Gloves - Black
https://shopee.com.my/Clover-SR-4-Long-Summ...77-ad7fbb68b671

= IXON RS Tempo Air GLOVE RACING
https://shopee.com.my/IXON-RS-Tempo-Air-GLO...3c-e81568a6fbaf

and both the glove price are very similar
*
id go for clover since its looks like more mesh so should be cooler.

if touch screen capabilities isnt important to u... can look at Five5 RFX Sport gloves as well
https://www.mytakongracing.com/collections/...five5-rfx-sport

i have these and they are one of the most comfortable gloves i own... even more comfy than my Alpinestars SP2 V3 gauntlets.

i dont have sweaty hands so i dont really feel my hands get sweaty in both the Five5 n Alpinestars.

EDIT: just remembered i actually have the Clover SR-3. although they are longer, they arent gauntlet long. the IXON will be longer. got the SR-3 for super cheap coz it had a material flaw (cosmetic) and the shop owner just wanted to get rid of the stock. SR-3 is very airy n comfy to use also. i assume the SR-4 would be good for ur use.

i do need touch screen capabilities when using phone for navigation.

how was the protective on your Clover SR-3 glove compare to Five5 and Alpinestars glove ?

anyways thx for your info and suggestion as well. rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
*
The protection on the Five5 n Alpinestars definitely way better than the SR-3 as they r full leather vs textile gloves on the clover

Came across Alpinestars base mesh jacket for RM399, comes with CE level 1 shoulder and elbow armor.

Relatively cheap for original Alpinestars. Anybody using it? Really curious if the jacket itself has CE rating for abrasion and how it wears.

Using a mesh jacket now that’s a bit difficult to take off and wear again when sweaty.

Whats the model or any link?

Quite cheap for original Alpinestars considering it comes with elbow and shoulder armor.

Edit: and it looks less like a jacket and more like a base layer.
*
i think... it actually is a base layer... the word base is kinda in the name hahaha

QUOTE(genesiscopy @ Jul 23 2023, 02:39 PM)
How's your experience with the V3? I basically used it daily nowadays when going to work since couldn't bother to stop and wear waterproof clothing. But the air inlet really need high speed to feel the airflow coming in. Either that or I'm just wearing it wrong since I am also using waterproof laptop bag. It gets in the way of the inlet at armpit area.
*
u talking about jacket or pants? my andes v3 is the pants.... and.... i have not used it yet...even the tags are still attached laugh.gif

as for jacket sticking topic... i use long sleeve compression shirt. bought cheap cheap from shopee. damn comfortable that i use it for all my rides even wiith jackets that dont stick.

basically i use long sleeve compression shirt + long compression pants (both bought cheap cheap from shopee) under my pants and jacket... no other pants, no other tshirt, no underwear oso. the compression wear is my inner/underwear.

so my pants and jacket dont stick to my skin.. and im comfortable the entire way... on super hot long rides i actually splash my compression shirt with water and just continue riding with it wet... dries fast enough and the process keeps me cool oso.

should try out compression wear... its supposed to help reduce fatigue as well.... not sure if it works for me, but i think it does as i feel less tired during long rides....but may just be placebo...somemore my compression wear is cheapo shopee items.

Interesting! Which shoemaker stitches boots?

Which reminds me, I left my Rockport dress shoes with San Lee in Tmn Midah to see what they can do to reattach the soles last month. They never even got back to me....

i think almost any tepi jalan cobbler oso can stich. ive even sent my alipansetar boots to be sewn at those side walk cobblers. takes them a couple of hours je.

otherwise, theres always those in pertama complex.

Want to ask,

For these leather jacket (Alpinestar, Dainese, Komine..), do you speciffically need to wear their undergarment or any shirt would do?
*
Id get a compression long sleeve shirt...normal tshirts will probably be drenched in sweat n take forever to dry...this way u wont be too hot in the jacket n itll be quick dry...compression wear will also help reduce fatigue

QUOTE(vavisalai @ Dec 30 2023, 04:44 PM)
Hello to all the sifus,

I have some questions regarding riding bike gears. I am planning to ride to work everyday with a one way distance of 10km to my office. My budget is around Rm 3000 (around 862 sgd). The main thing for me is I want to separate work and leisure gears (if it’s possible two sets).

I am looking to get 2 helmets (1 for work & 1 for leisure), one riding jacket (was thinking to wear the jacket for work commute and buying those knee and elbow guard for leisure ride OR get another riding jacket if budget permits) and gloves.
* the main thing is I want to have two sets of gears

Questions are
1. Can an armoured jacket fold and stored together with a Modular helmet into a 46L top box?
2. Let say I’m getting a mesh jacket, do I still need to buy a rain jacket?
3. Is knee & elbow guard protective when I’m wearing shorts and T-shirt?
4. Should I get all the gears in Malaysia or Singapore?
5. Last but not least, any recommendations with the budget above and place to get it? (Yes I’m trying to get spoon fed by you all)
6. One more thing, Vespa 150 vs Yamaha X Max 300 vs Honda Forza 350? Leaning towards Vespa due to the brand but in reality practically comes first 🙃

Thank you.
*
1/ easier to do if the jacket doesnt have a back protector. but itll be tight... n consider the fact that you may also keep your rain suit in there, so helmet + jacket + rainsuit = probably no.
2/ if u wanna keep dry... then yeah
3/ only for the parts its covering... the rest will still be exposed and will tear super easily in a slide...and in a slide, those guards may also slide off.
4/ if u have easy access to both, get both. no need to buy stuff in 1 place. shop around n ull get damn good deals
5/ RM3k for 2 sets will be tough. doable, but tough and may not get 2 full sets.
6/ whichever one that has the biggest underseat storage n "dear god, no" to vespa.

u should spend the 3k for just 1 set which u can use for both. this way u can get decent full set of gear and u can use the gear for both leisure n work. dont understand why u need to separate them as ull need the same amount of protection for either kind of riding.... if anything, leisure ride i feel need more protection, especially for long rides.

as for budget, considering cheap, but ori stuff.

helmet mebbe 600/pc, x2 = 1.2k
jacket mebbe also 600/pc, x2 = 1.2k
gloves mebbe 250/pair, x2 = 500
boots aint cheap. expect around 500 or more per pair, x2 = 1k
pants oso aint cheap... ard 600/pair, x2 = 1.2k
rain suit only 1 is enough around 120-150 for givi.

u can see how 3k isnt really gonna fit for 2 sets. rather than splitting the budget to get 2 sets n end up with cheap/fake stuff n nonsense stuff like those guards, better u get a full set of properly covered, protective gear which u can use for both. further down the road u can add on stuff for specific use if n when u have the budget.

only thing id get 2 of is mebbe the helmet. coz thats gonna have lots of sweat on it and can be a lil annoying to clean.

1) Is it possible to get a modular helmet around 600?
2) Is LS2 a good brand?
3) What brand do you recommend for the jacket? And what's the estimated price?
4) How would you prioritize in terms of riding gears? Should I get the boots first or pants first? (I will definitely get 2 helmets and jackets first)
*
1/ yes...lazer mh6 is below that...can get at lsh racing world
2/ yes, but not sure if their prices is within ur budget
3/ rs taichi or komine from hodaka motoworld or motogear malaysia...can also check.out hevik at lsh
4/ between boots n pants, id get boots first...dont forget ur gloves

Just a funny question. For raining days, does it work if I can get those long raincoat without pants (like those seen with traffic police)? Does it affect riding?
*
Only for ur upper body...ur pants, n shoes will be soaked. Only affects riding if ur bothered by it

Also those long coats... normal ones will tear in the wind quite easily.
