Went to NAPS Adachi today

Juling mata man....saw some forgot what brand goretex gloves which was quite cheap...less than 500...but its too thick to be used in our weather

Left with rs taichi pants..a-star gauntlet n rs taichi shorties glove...balaclava and some original kawasaki keychains. Was aiming for boots but had nothing i wanted.

Total spent 2.1k...if u ever go to these shops in japan..bring ur passport so u can get tax free...saved me rm200 of taxes

Was very tempted to buy a full cf helmet for 1.6k... wins a-force rs....but no ece cert n also my luggage no space 😭

Also saw a filipino buy n custom fit a shoei...me jelly coz he can buy n bring back hahahah

I think SIRIM more higher than DOT helmets.
*
It definitely is..DOT tests are outdated AF and its also based on trust system these days...manufacturers done need to send products in for testing...they just need to claim its good enough for dot n thats it.

Afaik sirim actually tests the helmets and the testing methodology is similar to ece iinm.... I've also heard some ppl saying sirim is better than ece coz sirim tests the impact point twice instead of ece's once...not sure abt the truth in this.

So yes, despite the existence of MS88, i have confidence in sirim certified helmets

can share what waist pouch you are using ?
is waterproof ?
*
The one sold.by bikempire. Uglybros. Supposed to be waterproof but.....not really..it cant handle long periods of heavy rain..but a simple plastic bag n double sided tape can fix that n make it properly waterproof.

The uglybros are good for my use in terms of pockets etc but they dont last that long with my rough use n i actually have 2 more spare as backup. Im actually contemplating on switching to acerbis 4L pouch bags but they r twice the price n not enough pockets for me

QUOTE(Harfan @ Apr 28 2023, 12:35 PM)
Hmm..I see.

My use case is more for daily commute to work (60km/day).
After a heavy rain, my gloves takes around half to 1 day to fully dried. If it's raining daily, I have to alternate between spare glove and main glove which is a bit of a hassle. That's why I'm thinking of getting a waterproof glove. Thanks for your suggestion.
*
find a spot with some air movement and heat sources to dry ur gloves. i used to put my gloves and jackets etc at the area where the aircond compressors are at if i reach the office wet.

if no heat sources, try putting it directly in the line of air flow...even aircond air is fine as long as there is airflow. if got stand/table fan even better.

both will still take awhile to dry but at least it can dry.

also, waterproof gloves arent cheap.. and RM100 will barely get u copy ori non water proof gloves. ori n waterproof? maybe 5-6x that price.

also as others have mentioned. no point in our climate. its gonna be hot and ull probably end up regretting it.....and the gloves will still probably get wet...on the inside... from ur sweat.

what earplug do you guys use to protect your ear?
or should i just get a helmet that has better seal?
the wind blowing in my ears starting to get me.. need to protect my eardrum

do you have any problem listening to other vehicle with the earplug on?
*
3M 1110 foam earplugs... RM2.50/pair at almost any hardware shop.

no matter what helmet u wear... even if its the quietest in the world, should still wear earplugs.

not much issue hearing surroundings with the earplugs on.

some have said that musician/concert earplugs are also suitable for riding.

Or buy in shopee in bulk. Less than rm1.

I personally use the yellow 1250. Slightly better sound insulation. Slightly more expensive.

Still can hear traffic and my coms.

I find the foamies quieter, more comfortable and easier to wear than the silicon ones.
*
1250 comes with corded tak? one of the main reasons i stick to 1110 besides being easy to find, is for the corded versions...n they r practically everywhere... even easier to find than non corded.

agree with foamies... i triede them silicon ones beforee (which i got for free when i bought snorkeling goggles)... the ends were too damn long that it hurts my ear really badly. foamies when installed properly can be comfy for a whole day ride.

Good for you.
If you find it uncomfortable, you may try the EAR FX.

Earplugs are a must.

did a ride last weekend... kl-sg petani-kl....day trip.. avg cruising was about 140-160kmh

just installed helmet speakers... n i couldnt find my earplugs anywhere n i was late... so rushed out and did the entire ride without earplugs n music blasting....and also the lovely sound of my loud exhaust on my z900.

ears felt like it was ringing for the rest of the night......

earplugs definitely a must.

Damn how you tahan 140-160kmh without earplugs. I rode from genting karak exit to Subang and didn't put on my earplugs because initially was supposed to take sempah down but changed plans. My speed capped at 130kmh because any more and it hurts. Eventhough I capped at 130, when I reached my destination, my ears were noticeably affected for the next few hours as I had trouble hearing for that period.

Years n years of blasting heavy metal on headphones.

Was also blasting heavy metal throughout the entire trip hahahaha

QUOTE(Rammygn @ Jun 14 2023, 10:45 AM)
Maybe if we are being totally honest, outside of like maybe the outliers when it comes to exhaust upgrades from stock (new v4R comes to mind) - I don’t think mortals such as us with names not rhyming with Sossi and Barkuez aren’t gonna be able to tell a few HP gained or NM torque in a specific rpm band.

I’ve always seen exhaust upgrades for what they are - just an exercise in vanity (so it looks good in our eyes) and wanting to have a sound that excites us while we ride (often louder than stock but sometimes also for enhancing the engine’s characteristic note).

I’ve never done a exhaust swap and tune expecting to go considerably faster because of it or improve performance in any meaningful manner - without severely compromising engine longevity or safety that is.
*
agreed.... exhaust upgrades are a vanitiy thing la... "loud pipes saves lives" is also just some crap someone came up with to justify having a loud exhaust...coz lets be honest.. the physics doesnt make sense.

mine oso i pasang coz i wanted to have the sound coz i love loud n rough sounding exhausts.

i did get a tune though but thats just mainly to ensure i didnt lean the bike out with the air filter + full system combo.

gained about 17bhp total (for about rm4K spent) but honestly, i cant tell the diff in before and after.

only diff i can tell is that the bike is more flickable coz the heavy stock exhaust system is gone.

To some extent i think you are more noticeable .... bought my bike with a cannon, effing loud and dont like it but i do notice, everything gives way. If they dont, blip sikit and they  tend to do so
*
everybody claims to "notice ppl giving way" or "ppl notice when im coming".

unfortunately that may only be placebo or even standard behaviour of drivers these days.....honestly...its placebo.

traffic around me has been the same before n after the exhaust (n my exhaust is loud n pops like crazy)....ppl still give way whether quiet or loud exhaust. of course i still have assholes who dont even notice im coming n just switch lanes... be it loud exhaust or stock... best part? most of the assholes that do this are on a kapchai...so much so that i look out more for kapchais than i do cars especially in traffic jams. if these riders with their open face MS88 helmets cant even notice loud exhausts, u really cant expect ppl in an enclosed - somewhat sound insulated, has other internal environmental noises (like radio n aircond) - enclosure to notice u or ur exhaust. so like i said.. the physics dont make sense.

as for blipping, if u have to blip, ur already too close n obviously they didnt notice u (or ur loud exhaust) BEFORE u arrived... which is the whole argument of "loud pipe saves lives".

problem with this is also that these "results" (both believers and non believers' claims) are not repeatable. waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyy too many variables to consider - different surrounding (internal/external) noise n noise levels, different car brand/types/models etc, different level of insulation, different person, different level of awareness, different urgency bla bla bla.

honestly, i think loud pipe saves lives is not something anyone should lean into. itll make u more complacent, gives u a false sense of security and less aware coz ur basically somewhat relying on that to help keep u safe as u expect ppl to hear u.

so as the saying goes, ride as if everyone (yes, everyone, including other bikes) are trying to kill u n ignore all other sayings that can make u complacent like the loud pipes argument.

so if u like loud exhaust, just say u like loud exhaust. no need to justify. if u get judged by some people... not their money.

best bang for buck goretex, high cut is probably sidi adventure 2.
they're sold quite cheap in malaysia.

went to try them out at chear motor when i was looking.
try and PM that seller in shopee, i think she's a salesgirl from chear. look like they have a couple of sizes in stock.

do note that the black ones are made from microfibre. sole reason why i skipped after trying them out.
*
u mean this right?

https://shopee.com.my/SIDI-TOURING-ADVENTUR...bd-148936b27e72

yeah this one the hi cut is a lil too tall.....

currently eyeing Falco Liberty 3 and forma arbo. these are about 11inches from sole to top with similar fastening (zip + velcro). but just wondering if there are other gore tex options within budget.

mid cut boots like the falco land 3 are a lil too short for my liking

also thinking of selling my rs taichi riding pants and looking into a pair of gore tex pants too.
