food rider FB group frequently suggest maxfly maxxis and foxdry. serdang motor carries foxdry and starfield knight so you can try there.
i bought foxdry can't remember what model at serdang motor. a recommended model by food rider. but very thick, too hot and sweaty, end up using back my decathlon rain jacket.

womens riding jacket can also take a look at hodaka. their komine women jacket is quite cheap. rm300-400 IINM, better quality than benkia.
*
hhhmmm.... kinda looking for something yellow but will look at the other brands.

3-400 oso actually quite above budget... might look into the RM2xx ones from benkia considering my gf doesnt ride very often.. looking at gloves for her too.

just a thought, if your gf willing to ride with you, wouldn't it be better if she gets the better jacket, helmets and stuff between the two of you?
*
of course better... but.......

- i already have pretty good, original gear (which sadly NONE of them fit her)
- budget is a thing
- she doesnt ride very often....like not even once a month (last time she rode was like 3-4 months ago)...
- timing is an issue (as i rarely have weekends free coz #fatherhood n she works on weekdays)

maybe not spend so much yet for something thats rarely used... even a benkia or chapalang alipansetar jacket will be better than the hoodie she is wearing now.

shes already wearing a full face bilmola helmet which i bought for my son...my son's cheapo riding boots also fits her perfectly..doesnt fit my son anymore though.

also targeting a komine glove

so starting slow... if she starts riding with me alot more often than will consider more branded gear like taichi or komine or even more atas brands.

What tires do you reccomend for a daily commuter LC 4s with standard size rims  ?
*
Corsa S123... used them on my old Z250 n thought they were amazing

i see alot of kapchais using it on the rear pairing it with the Corsa S123 sport rain on the front coz the sport rain doesnt last as long.

The S123 lasts quite a bit but I won't really say they are that good in the rain. I also don't like the zig zag centre groove on the S123.

Maybe the Corsa Sport Rain would be better.

Best wet tyres I've had was those old school Dunlop TT100 on my old EX5.
*
QUOTE(alexei @ Feb 19 2024, 02:34 PM)
guess I'm not the only person with this issue
*
LOL... so did i actually... the zig zag makes it look weird. but i close one eye je... the s123 was a godsend to me after the nonsense zeneos dunno wat model before that.... those tires like wanna kill me wan.

TT100 only if the original dunlop....not the other brands that copy that design

Finally got my big bike! I am still not confident riding on public road yet as I am still new to big bike. Now just practicing slow ride and U-turn in taman area.

Anyway, I already got my helmet and now currently hunting for a glove and jacket. I have about RM1k to spend and been looking for jacket that looks more casual looking. Any suggestion? I've been looking at RS Taichi RSJ335 kinda look, but it doesn't seem like its mesh.
*
i suggest going to hodaka or motorgear to check out the jacket up front. at the same time u can browse for other jackets n gloves as well.

product page says "high breathability" which i usually translate as non mesh, can be hot lol.

also dont understand why riding jackets got hoodies wan... especially when were already wearing helmet.

ive got the Komine JK-137 Carbon Mesh Protect jacket...real nice jacket but 3 things i dont really like.

1/ although the mesh looks about the same as my old RS Taichi jacket.. its quite abit warmer than my RS Taichi jacket. especially behind a big windscreen on my versys.

2/ the v-shaped opening at the neck... wish there was a velcro strap there like my RS Taichi jacket instead of the button strap at the upper side of the zipper. ive been pelted with pieces of sand and small rocks there before when following behind other bikes and goddamn it hurts.

3/ recently discovered that for some reason the collar chafes my neck by the 2nd or 3rd day of the ride..letak dettol damn stim. didnt happen on my RS Taichi or IZ2 jackets though. had to wear extra buff on the neck to stop it hurting. have also bought turtle neck compression wear coz of this.

Hi. Beginner here looking to buy gloves, arm sleeves and helmet. Will be attending riding course soon. Any recommendations for beginners that doesn't hurt the wallets?
*
first off... u gotta give ur budget... like how much ur willing to spend... n give exact numbers

only then people can recommend stuff to u n try to be within ur price range.

no point ppl recommend to u something then suddenly u say out of ur budget.

Not sure about budget as I didn't really survey.

RM200-250 can get all 3 item?
*
Technically yes, but they wont be good.

Helmet budget ard 150-200 for KHI or LTD or SGV jet helmet n the likes..j

Gloves can get from shopee from rm50 onwards.

Arm sleeves? Buy a cheapo hoodie instead

But if u want proper, safe gear..cheap ones r roughly...

Rm180.for the cheapest Komine or RS Taichi gloves. Can look into china brands like Benkia, but even Benkia can be more expensive.

Rm300 for GIVI or ARC jet helmet.

Arm sleeves can get cheap ones from shopee for ard 20 bux

u didnt google to see wat the givi m35 is before commenting eh? hehehehehehh

its a Jet helmet. just these kinda 3/4 face helmets ppl tend to call it open face.

comes with a visor... and a sun visor as well.

rain isnt much of an issue.

KYT TTR-Jet is also a nice option.

i googled KYT, look nice but comfort ??
*
im looking into the KYT as well... just dont like the malaysian version being double D ring. going to bali in dec n will check out the indo version which uses micrometric strap n try to smuggle in if it tickles my fancy.

as for comfort, reviews ive watched are saying its quite comfy n has a full face hugging feel to it.... whereas the givi m35.0 is said to be one of the quieter open face helmets n comfy as well.

but for ur budget, u could look into getting the MT Helmet Atom SV. its a modular helmet. cheap and does the job. there are many who has this helmet and are happy with it. i used to own one and sold it off as i didnt use for a few years as i wasnt too happy with my unit.

full face u can look into MT Helmet, Bilmola n cant remember some other budget brands.

for jackets, just make sure to get mesh..as mesh as possible.... RS Taichi, komine are jap brands n more on the budget side but still quality stuff. Benkia is the more known/ atas china brand. n of course u have ur euro brands like alpinestars, revit, dainese etc...depending on ur budget.

Guys, are these fabric style gloves better than the mesh+hard plastic combo in term of comfort?

Will it be a lot warmer in our weather?

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

These are Decathlon ST100 mountain bike gloves.

My current pair of gloves although quite breathable, hurts my ring fingers after a while because it's quite rigid. Looking for another pair now that 11/11 sales is approaching
*
fyi, there are motorcycle gloves in this style as well like komine. i think rs taichi has them as well.

comfort wise, u really gotta go n try them out. i have 2 gauntlet leather gloves, 1 from Five and another from Alpinestars. the cheaper Five is so much more comfortable than the alpinestars.

as for shorty gloves, the most comfortable gloves ive ever used is from RS Taichi.
