Nice to see the Google Pixel 8 launch announcement date officially revealed.

I will happily return back to using a regular one handed friendly 6 inch Pixel 8 since the awesome Pixel 5. The Pixel 8 pro simply doesn't make any sense with that gimmicky body temperature sensor at the rear.

Meantime i'll have to decide whether to either keep my Sony Xperia 1 V as a backup or sell it.

Good. Android 14 should be able to fix the overheating/battery life issues some minority Pixel 7 pro/Pixel 7 owners are facing.

Historically, the stable builds typically get released to public 1 month or few weeks earlier or during the Pixel announcement date (October).

Android 13 was released in August 2023 - roughly 2 months before the official October Pixel 7 announcement date.

Pixel 8 pro seems to have a fully flat screen.. which is perfect and the curved Pixel pro series were the main reason holding me back.

Last problem will be 5G. It's almost 2024 and 5G is already getting common, getting a new phone without 5G available locally is a huge bummer..

Unfortunately, personally i believe it is up to the telco to enable 5G for our phones
If not, why would 5G work without any issue on umobile?

I agree! The clowns at Maxis have not been able to answer this exact question and kept saying it was a Google issue. The funny
thing about this whole debacle is the fact VoLTE was not even made available for U-Mobile when Google and the 3 big carriers -
Maxis, Celcom and Digi announced VoLTE support for the P7 range initially. So how did a smaller carrier like U-Mobile beat these
so-called big boys to 5G support?

When I port out from Maxis, during the "exit interview" where they try to offer you better pricing all, they asked me why - I told them the coverage was poor in my area and the 5G wasn't working for my phone. They knew I was using Google Pixel 7 and the had the audacity to say "why didn't you call us earlier to fix the problem/setting"...at that point I lazy to layan them already and left to umobile. But it did made me wonder if they can really enable 5G for us just like that or how

Meanwhile I also suspected that maybe some of the higher ups in umobile are pixel users, so they might be able to pressure the team to enable it for them

I never used SP/TG on all my phones since nexus 5 era. Now using a 3-year-old OnePlus 8T with near flat screen and also no problem at all.

I don't like curved edges due to both aesthetic and functional reasons, not really due to SP haha

The fact that you can just enable 5G via network signal guru likely means telco isn't the only one blocking
I believe it is a collaborated effort.

Did anyone of them actually announce VoLTE support for Pixel? I know yoodo initially said VoLTE is supported on pixel but it actually doesn't support it.

VoLTE support was enabled after one of the QPR beta update on Pixel 6

Yes i think VoLTE was enable because of a lot of user ask for it the the support forum and furthermore no more 3G in MY.
It is a join effort of telco and google for 5G if not how come root and software mod can make it to work sweat.gif

this is just the telco clowning around only as said sweat.gif

Id suggest get the postpaid 38. 5g full speed all day and 60gb. For a normy like me its a godsend. Price performance ratio is insane. Whats shocking to me is the 4g speed. Go for higher tier if you dont have fiber at home. I think their pricings are unbeatable. That is coming from me who was an ex anti umobile since a few years ago.
