I've been using umobile postpaid RM68 plan for many years now. Thinking of getting the 512gb iphone15 pro max.

Is there a catch? So I'm paying RM6247 for just the phone (that would've cost me RM7500 if I buy outright from an Apple store)? How are they able to offer me RM1200+ discount on the phone?

I mean, I'm already using the RM68 postpaid plan for many years, using the same data plan for another 2 years as per the device contract isn't a big deal at all.

it's less actually. the fees are refunded over 2 years, because there is a 2 year contract attached to that promo price where you agree to stay with Umobile for those 2 years. Meaning if you want to change telco before 2 years is up, you'll need to pay (7500-5699) / 24 * (remaining months in contract)

also i recommend you wait 1-2 months, since 16 coming out soon. they will reduce price some more then. so you can either get new phone with more features for same price or you can decide to save money and just go with 15.

Wait for iPhone 16 series instead or get from online platforms during double-digit sales or payday sales, can get super good price. Then use credit card to convert to 0% for 12 months if you want. Some online official shops have this service offered or your credit cards may have too, just check with banks.

Cheaper than getting this package and with contract attached, more expensive even for the device itself.

Or will the price drop more after 16 launch? cuz the price now is lower than the base 15 release price. If the 16 base model will be similary priced, feels like its a no brainer to get this 15pro over 16 base.

While I’m not categorically opposed to buying an older phone with hefty discounts just before the new one launches I would caution against buying one now on a new 2-year contract. Telcos are just clearing their old stocks in preparation for the new ones coming imminently. Also, I think a discount of 1000-1500 for an older iPhone can also be found on some online platforms without having to sign a telco contract. Keep a lookout during the upcoming 8.8 sale.
